Some like it hot!
I live in Central Texas with my wife and two kids, and I love to put hot sauce on my food. I usually gauge the quality of hot sauce by two dishes: Eggs and Macaroni.
I really like my foods spicy, but if it’s so hot, I can’t taste the flavor, I usually don’t think it’s worth eating. Tabasco is my favorite vinegar-based hot sauce, and my favorite salsa is Anna’s Salsa, a local fresh variety found in the produce section of local grocery stores.
- Top 5 Hot Sauces:
- Original Tabasco
- Ana’s Salsa (Hot)
- Big Daddy Jake’s Texas Pit Smoked
- Shotgun Willie’s Picante Sauce (Hotter’N Hell)
- Aztexan Habanero Supreme
Hottest Item Consumed: “El Muy Picante” Pork Tacos at Jalisco Grill in Austin
Number of Hot Sauces Currently Owned: I’m not sad to say that I currently own less than 10 hot sauces, most of them currently open and in use. I don’t collect hot sauce; I’m not that in to it. But I do like to try as much as I can. If I open it, I’ll usually finish it, unless it’s just totally inedible.
Number of Hot Sauces Consumed Lifetime: 100+
Personal Site: Men in Aprons
Favorite Flavor: I prefer Chipotle and Verde style of hot sauces, but most of all I like fresh, homemade salsa with tortilla chips.

HEY ADAM - I APPRICIATE YOU TAKING THE TIME TO REVIEW MY SAUCES . YOU MISSED ONE - MY SMOKIN’ BBQ- BUT ACCORDING TO YOUR TASTES YOU DIDN’T MISS MUCH BECAUSE THIS ONE ALSO USES FIGS AS A MAIN INGREDIENT . YOU MAKE SOME INTRESTING POINTS AND I APPRICIATE THE FEEDBACK AND YES LIKE A MAD SCIENTEST I MAY HAVE GONE TO FAR BUT I HAVE FORMED A CULT LIKE FOLLOWING FOR MY FIG SAUCES .
I SHOULD GIVE A BETTER INDEX ON HOW TO TRY THESE BUT I WILL SAY YOU HAD THE RIGHT IDEA WITH THE HOT DOG . IN SOUTH PHILLY WE CALL IT A FIGGIN’ HOT DOG . GRILL THE DOG AND ADD THE FIGGIN’ HOT THEN YOUR FAVORITE CHEESE AND LET THE CHEESE MELT INTO THE FIG SAUCE - IT’S OUR VERSION OF THE CHILE DOG .
YOUR RIGHT ABOUT THE FIGS AND STRAYING FROM THE NORM BUT THE OTHER REASONS ARE THAT A LOT OF PRODUCTS USE HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUPS AND A LIKE TO ADD SOME SWEETNESS AND THE FIGS ARE A NATURAL FORM OF SWEETNER .
TO SUM THINGS UP I HAD EMAILED NICK A MONTH OR SO AGO BECAUSE I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF TWEAKING THE PRODUCTS AND HAD ASKED FOR A DELAY UNTILL I SEND THE “NEW AND IMPROVED SAUCES” . THE TASTES WILL NOT CHANGE MUCH BUT THE TEXTURES HAVE - WHICH ADDRESSES ONE OF YOUR POINTS OF THE FIG SEEDS . I AM CURRENTLY WORKING ON A NEW BLEND WITH A SEEDLESS FIG PASTE WHICH DOES SMOOTH THINGS OUT A BIT .
AGAIN THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO TRY MY PRODUCTS AND IN THE FUTURE MAYBE I CAN GET YOU TO THE DARK SIDE .
HAVE A HA!HA! HOLIDAY !!!
