Just checking in with my bottle #12 of 22. Just opened the box a minute ago. Looks Great! Lots of extra’s in my box too. Thanks Blair! Always nice to see some freebee’s. Kinda cool with the 5oz label on the 10oz bottle… It matches my small bottle of the Death Sauce I have with the same label.

Chris

Looks like 12 is accounted for.

Aaron, I think most on here have a cyber-link to any collector stuff that becomes available. I find it very cool…The Createss finds it a tad disturbing. :)

Comment by pmac (1393) - 4/6/2006 @ 2:58 pm | [ Quote ]

there are probably others here as well because eman got his order in well after mine (30 minutes) and he got #2 and shortly after I ordered mine, someone made the comment they were on the website to order. So probably word got here first!especially with the first 5 being HSB d00ds.

Yeah I guess the numbers didn’t go out in order of ordering. I posted up when I saw it on the site cause I just knew someone on here would like to know about it, Shortly thereafter Nick put up a notice so it was all out in the open! I do agree with the Creator on the cyber-link to collectors items. ha! We just like to know where and when before the rest :D HSB ownz all

I have one of these bad boys on the way also. Watching these numbers show up here is kind of like playing deal or no deal. What’s in my package? Could it be #22 or is it #10 or #20? Maybe its #14 or #21. I will definitely find out tomorrow. I’ll keep you posted.

The only one I have ever had problems with was my 6am - they charged £13 (~$20) just for looking at it! (and then the tax on top) The parcels I’m expecting are worth a lot more than a 6am thas why I’m worried. I didn’t think they would charge for certain foods (well I’m hoping anyway and hopefully this is one less to worry about). It tends to be on insured items - as not many people would usually insure food products

The note says new reserve bottles EARLY 2007 so that could
mean several months into the year. People are probably going
to start buying 2 and 3am’s now. The signed AND numered ones
are going to be even harder to get.

Send the 4am to Blair for rewaxing. its about $50
But dont waste time and money if it is just a pressure crack from the shull down that is extremely common and they at Blairs will suggest not to if that is all it is because it might just happen again.

Its a crack that is very large and leaking. It just happend about 3 weeks ago. It has been fine for almost 6 years then BAM crack. I dont think he can fix the 4am because I havent heard back from him yet. Dont know if there is any gold resin left.

He did gold on the B-99 so i think there might be. I was speaking to Karin about 3 days ago on redoing a 4am. You should call.

Yeah I’m still trying to get hold of a numbered 2am and 3am - can anyone help?

I thought I’d sorted a 3am from a UK website who told me they had numbered 1’s in stock so I payed a little extra ($70 a bottle) and they sent me a normal 1. Theyre now being quite awkward about a refund so if they do not do so soon I’ll let you know who they are so you don’t make the same mistake by buying from them

Well, I actually sent it back to Blair. Thought it would find a good home there :-) He’s a classy individual indeed! Tied with CaJohn, or at least a very close second ;-) He refused it of course and it is supposed to be on it’s way back to me.

My fear, as is CaJohns’, is that if one day I get wiped out on duty someone will go through all this old ‘hot sauce stuff’ and give it all to a food bank or pitch it. I think my wife now knows better though ;-)

One thing though, I really hope the ‘market’ does not become diluted due to a constant collectable release. That would dull the ‘market’.

I agree, and lately, there have been a slew of Blair’s releases.
Some public offerings some not.
I will be happy when all the things I have waiting for me out there come in so I can share a couple with the people here.

Comment #59:
Comment by Mrfreeze (823) - 4/13/2006 @ 5:46 pm | [ Quote ]

That is true, but as long as the bottle numbers stay low enough we should be alright. Someone will always want every bottle that has been put out.

Comment #60:
Comment by thakswet (529) - 4/13/2006 @ 5:52 pm | [ Quote ]

I’ve quit attempting the complete collection and now pick and choose which ones to go for. Blair’s newest 4 bottle per 99 people is going to blow the market wide open. At a 50 per bottle, getting 75 might be hard; remember there are going to be a lot of these out there. Low numbers play a huge factor (if very low), but could this hurt the market more than help? OR does this expand the market?

(I really don’t want to hear from people that say they’ll never sell them either. Cause money is always an issue.)

Comment #61:
Comment by pmac (1393) - 4/13/2006 @ 6:00 pm | [ Quote ]

? 4 bottle for 99 people? do you mean 5 bottle set of the cutting room floor extension? I thought it was 5 bottles. The funny thing is, the people trying to buy it to resell. People buying will be trying really hard to aquire the whole 5 bottle set. So when they show up on eBay I think the bidding will be higher from the same people that have won previous bottles. Any one care to wager on what the first set of five or the first single bottle will sell for on eBay :)

Comment #62:
Comment by Mrfreeze (823) - 4/13/2006 @ 6:04 pm | [ Quote ]

I know what you mean trying to complete one collection is going to be tough, but that just puts more excitement in it. I thought that Blair’s newest set was a % bottle set?? Anyhow trying to get all of one number now becomes even harder. Will have to start saving only numbers that are divisible by 2 or 3 or 4 or so-on and so-forth.

Comment #63:
Comment by Mrfreeze (823) - 4/13/2006 @ 6:05 pm | [ Quote ]

I am not sure how to put this without it coming out all wrong weird and possibly offensive but i’ll try, I am coming into this collecting thing a little late, and really don’t know enough right now to put a resale value on anything, If I start a seprate collection from my husbands I’ll collect the bottles I want and that way the “value” is what I place on it. like a sentimental thing. that way there is no pressure on myself to get all the same number or pull in a good price on ebay. just my thoughts.

Everyone has a different idea of what collecting is to them. So your way or your thoughts on it are no more and no less right than anyone elses.
To each their own on how and what they collect.

I know that a low number or the last number are worth more… I don’t even know where I will begin my collection, CaJohn has some awesome bottles, we can only afford ONE blair collector in this house, and so I think I am going to put off the Mrs collection until I see something I HAVE to have…..(like the hubby’s 1/2 of the N-59 :P ) I may not een start a collection but have the hubby order 2 of whatever so I can cook with it, who knows time will tell

Yeah there is a great place on the web to buy just about anything related to peppers( flamingchili.com ). Last year I bought a rista from New Mexico it is about 2.5 feet long. Have that hanging in the kitchen, even have red pots and pans.

Everyone has a different idea of what collecting is to them. So your way or your thoughts on it are no more and no less right than anyone elses.
To each their own on how and what they collect.

I am right in the middle, I collect both of those now exclusively. Numbers mean something to me. But not everything.

To me I like to buy a lot of new stuff that shows a lot of originality. The Defcon Zero is a good example. Most of my Blair stuff I have bought at initial sale, not to buy cheap and sell high, but to get what I want without having to resort to spending a fortune to get it. I have yet to spend the big bucks on an item like a 4 am because I am having so much fun with the lower priced stuff. Of course it is all relevant. Anything above 20 bucks to my family and friends is a fortune for a hot sauce. So to them I am a big spender on my addic…. er, hobby.

Brands and numbers are not a big thing to me, especially the numbers. To me #4/99 and #85/99 are the same thing. They both come from the same place at the same time. Besides, who knows, they could probably be numbered in random order anyways, so who knows which was really made first, as if it really matters. Seems to matter on resale value, so I guess there is something to it, but I rarely sell any of my sauces anyway, unless to make room for something else. I was one of the first purchasers of the LeMillion when it was released, but I still received a very high number. Is that unfair? Not to me because I received it very quickly and in great condition. Besides, there are 999 of them out there, wasn’t the 4 am released in this amount? So eventually, it should aquire some value as the demand settles down. So my high number becomes more desirable as the available quantity dwindles. Just like the 4 AM’s. I know, it ain’t no 4 AM, but it is currently the only commissioned reserve, and will always be the first, so that’s gotta count for something.

Didn’t mean to start a rant, but there it is, just some of my thoughts. :)

is it me, or do you think the collectable market has gone up around 40% since last year?

I bought my 4am with a 5AM for $279 in 2000 and now a 5AM is going for 375+ and 4AM the skys the limit.

I’ve noticed that the market seems to flucuate all through the year. Right before Christmas all the prices were dirt cheap. I picked up TWO 5am’s for $300 even. I’d be lucky to get one for that now. People couldn’t GIVE away some of the other reserves. But then after New Year, things started to pick up again. Prices seem high to me right now, I think this blog helps out too! I usually write down the bottle and price for all the sales I see - so I have a running tally of what goes for what.

You know the funny thing about that is I just passed on a Beyond Death yesterday because of the money issues right now. I thought i was going to die! But because of the $4000+ we have spent on sauce this year and the baby comming, things are al little tight.

I heard about you sending your Beyond Death to Blair. He told me to tell you that his address has changed and I am susposed to email you the new one.

Well at least you know one thing will apply eman…
If there ever goes up a bottle of Beyond death on eBay that i WILL NOT BID AGAINST YOU. For the simple fact I know it is your holy grail :)
I am pretty sure none of your other frinds here would not either, to keep it as low as possible :)
But there are still a few deep pocketed individuals that do not even know about the blog i have run into lately. So they would be your primary concern.
I hope you get is one day soon d00d for a good price, it is only a 5oz bottle. It should not be more than a few hundred bucks, its not glass art waxed etc. not even signed for the most part. Just a simple yellow avery label with a certain font on the after death or regular death bottle…..hint hint!!
