Blair’s new Q Heats just keep getting better and better. I’ve mentioned before that I’m not a green sauce fan but I am a fan of the new recipes from Blair. After simply destroying a bottle of the new Chipotle Slam, I cracked open then next on my list: the Jalapeno Tequila.
Old Ingredients: Fresh jalapeno chilies, vinegar, tomatillos, fresh garlic, key lime juice, shallots, olive oil, sea salt, cilantro, cane sugar, onions, tequila, spices, xanthan gum
New Ingredients: Purified water, jalapeno chiles, fresh tomatillo, white vinegar, cilantro, smashed garlic, shallots, green habanero chilies, cane sugar, onion, lime juice, olive oil, agave tequila, black pepper and vitamin C.
You don’t have to be a gourmet chef to realize that the new recipe kicks the old recipes’ ass. As you can see from above, I first tried this sauce on one of my favorite delivery foods, Empanada Mama - little meat pillows sent from heaven. The Q Heat Jalapeno Tequila rocked the empanadas - I didn’t even need to use any of the hot aji sauce that comes with every order.

The empanada test was so successful I had to try it out on something a little more off the beaten path - at least in terms of hot sauce eating. So, in other abuse of the delivery systems here in NYC, I order a Cheesesteak wit whiz from Phily Slims (on a snow day). Now, the cheesesteaks are quite good but I’ve always found them a bit lacking in flavor.
So I slathered on some of the Jalapeno Tequila and thoroughly enjoyed my lunch. The sauce added the much needed flavor, but almost no heat. This is what I would call an “eating” sauce - it’s a sauce you can use on anything and everything, plus chileheads of all heat levels can enjoy it.
