Greetings chileheads! I recently approached Nick on the idea of doing an audio review of a hot sauce. He was keen on the idea, so I couldn’t help but oblige. So here we go. I now present to you the audio hot sauce review of LocoLuna’s suite of Lava sauces. I had a really good time putting this together, and TheWife and I enjoyed doing a live taste testing.
Please pardon the chip crunching and smacking; it goes with the territory, I suppose.
The review lasts about 10 minutes, and the file is about 6 MB in size. Please right-click and “save target as …” or “save link as…” if you are using Firefox.

I liked it.
Hmmmm, that gives me an interesting if not sadistic idea. We will be doing an extract harvest in a couple weeks…Perhaps I can invite a few neighbors and friends over, without respirators or gloves of course, and I’ll state the exhaust fans aren’t working, and have them participate in a limited manner, and audio and video the fun. Ooooh, this idea just makes me feel happy all over. I’ll have to make sure all the utensils they use have a thin coat of extract on them as well, it’ll make for a much better, more exciting clip.
Wasn’t Saddam Hussein doing something like that? ![]()
Nope. He was using yellowcake and cobalt, I’m just using the souls of habaneros.
Very cool review adam! Now you’ve gotta tell us the secret ingredient. Also, I agree with cdy1776 - we should show some pictures of the product with the review, and maybe the reviewers - just to gie us a visual with the audio. Great stuff!
yeah, we did it so quick, I wan’t even thinking about pictures. I will definitely be more prepared if we do it again. All feedback is appreciated. I’ll give up the secret ingredient only if Brian says OK. I have a feeling though, you might be dissapointed.

Thanks for doing this Adam! This was a really cool idea. Maybe Nick would let you submit some pictures now if you have them (you and TheWife)?
And about the secret ingredient, be aware that Adam was sworn to secrecy. We’ll NEVER tell!:)

That’s a good start:)
Adam GREAT REVIEW! Where did you get the background music? I have a bottle from Brian (the extreme) and I really wanted to take pics and stuff but after hearing your review I’m cracking it open as we speak.
Hey Nick,
Too bad you cant do a live webcam thingie
Hey Brian I LIKE IT! I just blew through half the bottle slopping it up with saltines. Good heat too. You can definatly taste the chilli pepper in the sauce. My wife even said it taste like my chilli. I think this would be awesome on a big steak. I just finished dinner (chicken) but I’m hungry again. Brian this gets two thumbs up in my book - Defo going with the flow!

Thanks Mad! I really appreciate the endorsement! The sauce does work great for grilling and marinandes. Also due to the Worchestershire in it, LAVA makes KILLER Bloody Mary’s! Spread the word!

You are the MAN. Well, not the eman, but the MAD MAN, just to avoid confusion”)
Mad_Reilly,
Sorry to respond so late. If you go to my podcast page, you can see the details on the review file. The music comes from the Podsafe Music Network, a site where artists can promote their music for free and where podcast producers can use the music in their shows royalty free.
The intro song is called On Fire! by Bevil The Two-Headed Monster
The background music is Romany Dance Gitano Flamenco by Hellazero
Free cool music - what a great concept!:) Nice job Aaron!
Thanks for the pic too Nick!
Tracy - I fired off an email a little while ago, so when you get a sec….
Lava Mary’s anyone? I don’t think anything can compare to a good bloody mary. One thing I have been enjoying are some of these fruit based hot sauces as additives to Sunday morning bloody marys. Waha werha, a kiwi based hot sauce is awsome in a bloody, works good in a salty dog too.

I’d be interested in your thoughts on a Lava Mary, actually, given your culinary training. The Worchestershire in the Lava makes really nice Bloody Mary’s, I’ve been told (believe it or not, I’ve not tried one yet)!
I put the lava extreme on some eggs tonight. VERY GOOD! I wish I could try out the lava mary, but I don’t like bloody marys all that much. Perhaps in a Buffalo Sweat Shot.

Now that sounds interesting, Adam. Tell me how it works out:)
Hopefuly nick posts my review of the LAVA extreme soon!
