For all the Blair’s fans out there, I have some big news. The caldera prototype is now in a new home with one of the best Blair’s collectors out there. This transaction has taken place over the last 3 weeks and all aspects of the transaction are now complete. The buyer wishes to remain anonymous and does not want the selling price disclosed…..Fairwell my friend…fairwell…

Hey all, got something new going on here. Michelle and I are trying a new swing on the sales thing. We are going to be hosting several hot sauce parties at the house to try and get new buyers. Where the twist comes in is we are going to try to sign the ones who come to host their own party and we will bring all the samples…kind of like a Candlelite or Tupperware party. You recruit others to spread the word and get their own sauce parties together. You make it worth their while by giving them discounts or free stuff for their trouble. Networking at it’s finest. You get the gist.
So here is what I am asking. If you would like your company to be represented, send me samples I can put out for people to try. I don’t need a lot, just 1 bottle of what ever you want to be sampled. I will give reports on how things went and any feedback of how well the sauce did to anyone that asks. It’s only fair for the money you spend to make and ship the products. Also, if you have literature about your product I can use that too. As for sales, that will be handled through SNS or directly if you prefer.
Please email me with any questions…eric at locoluna.com

Holy shnikeys batman!!! I can’t believe it has almost been a year. To all of you that have told me that time will go faster than ever…you are SOOOO right. It seems like yesterday that this INCREDIBLE community so generously gave to make Isabellas arrival more special. So, for her 1st B-day, I was wanting to start her own very special hot sauce collection for her own. I have talked with several of the bloggers about this in the last year and they thought this was a very cool idea.
We would like to ask if any of the manufactures would like to donate 1 bottle and sign and write something special to Isabella on the bottle. This way she can start her collection with some very special stuff. This is only a request, please don’t feel pressured in any way to do this.
We can help with shipping charges if you would like.
Thanks bloggers, your the best!!!!!!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from Loco Luna Gourmet Foods Brian, Eman and the entire gang at Loco Luna Gourmet Foods would like to wish each and every one of you a wonderful Christmas and holiday season. We would also like to send a special thank you out to the wonderful readers and commenters on the Hot Sauce Blog.
As the year comes to a close, we start to look back a little and realize how truly fortunate and blessed we are. 2006 has proven to be a great year for Loco Luna Gourmet Foods. We successfully launched a new sauce in Lava Extreme, debuted our initial reserve collectible sauce items, exhibited at our first trade show and even won an award or two. Our reach and distribution continues to grow and we have received the support of many new and old friends alike along the way. Best of all, Eric and Michelle debuted Isabella, their lovely daughter. For all of this, we are grateful.
Even better than listing company achievements, we have gotten to know some really terrific people and I count our time at Zest Fest as a true highlight. There is something almost magical about the opportunity to spend a little time with people who share a common passion. Zest Fest was such an occasion. To every one of you who has made our days just a little brighter by the opportunity to meet and talk with you, share ideas and thoughts via email or the HSB forums, we say thank you. We count Nick and everyone else at the Hot Sauce Blog as friends and thank you for your support. We have learned from many of you and will continue to do so. Thank you for all you do and best wishes for the holidays.
We look forward to spending time with you again in 2007 and to making new friends as well! Stop by to visit us on the web or shoot us an email or just pick up the phone for a call. We’ll be glad to hear from you! Go with the flow!
Best wishes,
Brian Moon

Two years ago: Sauce expert enjoys adding spice to life
I was first attracted by the label and while reading came across the warning “this is no toy hot sauce!“ Nice! With grammar like that I was waiting for Mr. Miage to show me how to paint the fence… of course with my spelling I thing we are tied
anyways…
Packaging: I like it. Definitely has an imported feeling to it. The label definitely jumps out at you.
Ingredients: White vinegar, mustard, habanero peppers, green olives, special blend of spices and salt, ascorbic acid, natural gum
Aroma: The habanero is very dominant and is followed by vinegar and then mustard. There is something else there but I cannot make it out. It actually has a slightly complex smell. I think it might be the olives but can’t really tell.
Appearance: Very chunky, it actually looks like Gerber baby food. I think it would brush on very nicely on a piece of chicken.
Taste: The habanero and salt jump out right at you! Then the vinegar and mustard slowly arrive.just like it smelled.

Heat: The heat was a very slow warm up but quite nice. This sauce lets you taste all it has to offer and then brings on the heat. I am not a big fan of instant heat because I don’t get to enjoy all the flavors. Nicely done.
Now the ole chicken finger um maybe not. This is not a good battered chicken sauce but should do much more nicely on plain chicken.
Packaging: 6/10
Aroma: 5/10
Appearance: 4/10
Taste: 4/10
Heat: 5/10

One year ago: Biggest BBQ blunders revealed
Hello everyone from the eman’s!
For this round of tasting I am sampling some wonderful BBQ sauce by E.Z. Earl. For that anticipated first smell I was kind of surprised that nothing jumped out at me. It was a well blended smell. Kind of like a Bulls Eye mixed with Open Pit is what I think of. You immediately think to yourself that this is a very versatile sauce as it says on the label. I hate when you get a sauce that only tastes good on 1 thing.
So now wanting to try some I went for the ol’ sauce only taste. HELLO attention, the taste buds are alive!!! The smoking hot in the label is definitely right. I was expecting your run of the mill heat but it has quite a bite. It is a quick warm up.
Along with the nice and unexpected heat, it is quite the tasty sauce. I definitely could get hooked. Like the smell, the taste is well blended too. You can tell there are quite a bit of spices in this one and there is no one taste that really sticks out. There is a slight smokey flavor to it but nothing overpowering.

On a chicken finger it was quite good. I could definitely eat a plate full of these.
All in all, this is definitely a sauce that chiliheads will love. A great all-round BBQ sauce with a good heat to it.
Ingredients: Pure white vinegar, filtered water, diced tomatoes in juice, English-Style Worchester sauce(no anchovies), secret blend of 12 natural herbs and spices, Oregon Clover honey, concentrated lemon juice, x-hot horseradish, salt, natural hickory smoke, precooked food starch, hot chili extract, natural Xanthan (as stabilizer)
13.4oz bottle
Packaging: 7/10
Aroma: 8/10
Appearance: 7/10
Taste: 8/10
Heat: 7/10

Hi folks!!! It’s review time again. This review is on CSIGI Chili Sauce by Capsaicin Carnivale that our favorite person, Nick, has so nicely sent me. Thakswet has done a nice review on this also, I believe in last August.
So here it goes!
Label: Nice, but not too flashy. Has the chemical formula of capsaicin on it which is pretty cool. It also has a little blurb on what the creators were trying to do.
The bottle reads: “Ttry this sauce on anything you desire. From a multitude of ethnic foods to a wide variety of soups and meats. We are confident you will find much enjoyment from the flavors we have chosen. The founder’s obsession in choosing specific varietals of peppers is used to create a fusion of flavor, texture, and heat that is unlike anything else on the market.”
Ingredients: Distilled White Vinegar, Yellow/Orange Habanero Chilies, Roasted Yellow Peppers, Roma Tomatoes, Garlic, Extra Course Sea Salt, Turbinado Sugar, Hemp Protein (0.00% thc), Spices, Arrowroot
Smell: This sauce has kind of a spicy sweet pickle smell and the vinegar is quite pronounced. Not too sure about this one but won’t know until tasting.
Heat: BAM!!! Comes on fast and hard!! Very nice. Gets the brow sweating and keeps it there.
Taste: You can definitely tell it is a vinegar based sauce but it actually flows well with the peppers. It is also quite sweet. Not too bad actually. Considering I am not a big sweet sauce fan I guess that says a lot.

On Food: Doing the old chicken routine it was pretty good but I think it is screaming for eggs. With a good heat and decent taste most sweet sauce lovers should be quite delighted.
Conclusion: A good try for you sweet sauce fans and those who like good heat.
Overall: 6.5/10

One year ago: Inside Dish: Joe Perry's Hot Sauce

In a small historical town just west of St. Louis, lies an inconspicuous monster in the hot sauce industry. At first glance, it looks like just another antiques store in a long line of shops along this cobble stone street.

But as you step inside, you are immediately greeted with a great coffee gallery and some incredible aromas! We started with a coffee shop about 18 years ago, says owner John Figueroa. It is well stocked from floor to ceiling and nicely arranged by John’s wife, Lisa. After looking at the endless types of coffee you slowly wander into the world of spicy foods. This room was the original hot sauce room until it [the display of hot sauces] got to large. Now it is home to 100’s of BBQ’s, rubs, jerks, etc. If you are looking for a new sauce or rub to kick up your next meal a notch, this is the place to go. (more…)
