Nick, what would we do without you? I think you know what Blair is doing even before he does!
Thanks again Nick…
I just ordered 2 of em!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, I ordered mine yesterday, just 1 bottle. After just now reading the added note, I hope my 2005 Halloween Reserve order counts enough for me to get one of these. I have been a chilihead for some time, but have just started on a collection. I tend to enjoy using the sauces more than looking at them!
This one added to the few I have would make for a good start.
Why are they still for sale on Blair’s website? He said on the site there were 450 ordered, but they are still up for sale? I always also thought Blair did first come first serve basis. Is this not the case?
I ordered mine early saturday morning and received a confirmation that morning. does any one know when the site actually started taking orders?
Got my order in – I think I got the last one because when I checked out I saw #1 & #99 were left. I thought I bought one for $1000 instead of $100. I’d be soooooo dead. Can’t wait for it to get here.
MY CHILIPALS HAVE SPOKEN….99 BOTTLES THAT IS ALL. END OF STORY
I think that will be better. Not as many people will have them but it will keep the value high.
Blair F&%ckin rules! I think this site is the bomb as well.
ALL HALE THE CHIEF!!!
Just got my order in yesterday around 11:00 AM. Got a confirmation e-mail, does that mean I’m in? My last order was 2 bottles of 6AM. Hope I get one!
If you ordered it yesterday (the 5th) I dont think you will get one. I ordered mine on the 3rd and dont think I will get one.
I put my order in at 9am Saturday. I’ve ordered 6am, caldera, 16 million, 2005 halloween, and 4 super sixes as well as three tee shirts. I’m pretty sure anybody who ordered on Monday may be in trouble of looking for them on EBAY.
My problem is Ive ordered 4am, 5am and the limited Mega death and thats it. My brother every year for Christmas has given me all the other reserve stuff from Blair’s site. That doesnt help though.
This year I was gonna get 2 one for me and one for him. Didnt work out like I planned.
I think Blair should give them in the order in which they were ordered. Some of the biggest chili heads are the ones paying mega bucks for them on Ebay. This would be the same as though he stopped at 99.
This whole 2005 Holiday Reserve thing…
There were 99 bottles up for sale. They should be sold to the first 99 people who agreed to buy them There should be NO special treatment for anyone who has purchased before. If that was the case, then it should be a private sale and only 99 “invitations” are sent out.
Also, to have an item up for sale on a web site that keeps taking orders after an item is sold out it just not right. Yes, people were not charged yet, but they received confirm e-mails.
Would Walmart take your credit/debit info without actually selling you something?
Now to “sort” through and determine who gets one?
Why did it accept orders after 99 in the first place?
So many questions and many unhappy people. After the recent “multi-numbered” bottles talked about recently, this does help Blair’s cause….
I have to add something else after reading:
“Blair wants your feedback: 648 BOTTLES ORDERED BY 219 CHILIHEADS. WHAT SHALL WE DO????? DO YOU THINK I SHOULD OFFER 199 BOTTLES…”
Well, 648 orders were taken on only 99 bottles. Now all of the sudden, it may become 199 bottles. Doesn’t it sound a bit like fraud? People originally “buying in” were thinking they woud get 1 0f 99. Now it may be 1 of 199. What next? 299, 399, or the typical 999 available?
Dont get me wrong, I love Blair and his sauce. Im just piss#*! that it is going down this way…
Be fair… 1st 99 orders get a bottle, simple!
If you want to reward past buyers, have a private sale!
I have to agree. I do not think anyone should get special treatment because they are favorites. It should be first come first serve. I do not think any other way would be fair.
I second that motion!
Any way you look at it, 99 bottles or 199, there were 648 ordered, somebody is gonna be disappointed. I think that since Blair made it, and you take a gamble when you order it because of the limited quantity, then he can divy it up how he sees fit. The fact that the newsletter didn’t go out like it was supposed to probably weighed a little in the decision to be selective. Give them a break and just keep your fingers crossed that ya get one. I won’t cry if I don’t, but I hope I do!
Wellllllllll…. I look at it like this 648 bottles by 219 (so called) chiliheads. Thats like three bottles per order, that’s a bit greedy now. I think true blue chiliheads should get first dibs. I hate when I see these special sauces gobbled up and then see them on ebay the next day for ten times the price. I mean are you a collector or a broker. I can only speak for myself. When these go on sale I order one so sombody else can get a chance to buy one. The same bloody thing happens at concerts, football games, etc. So if Blair picks and chooses to make sure true fans get a reserve, fair play to him.
The update on Blair’s site is interesting. Im kinda curious. Cant wait to see what it is.
WOW! Very Interisting!
I think I know…
If it’s what im thinking, well once again, Blair just again proves that he rocks!
Blair will come thru. No matter what it is, it just goes to prove that he is the chilihead of all chiliheads.
4 MORE nights of no sleep!! The suspence is killing me!!
My question is, how can you base loyalty on website orders alone? I have most all of the reserves, and have gone through a hundred of his sauces – but I’ve only ordered a couple on the website. So this plan has a big flaw! Blair can only track the people who order from his website.
I definately think that a huge collector like myself that has been buying from Blair for years and years should have pick of the litter! I started out buying 2am and have bought ALL of the collector sauces since. I buy a bunch of bottles everytime so I can sell a few to be able to buy the bottle numbers that I collect! I also trade off a few for other Blair’s goodies… Blair needs to reward the Loyal chiliheads and followers of his site. deathsauce.com lives on!!!
“I buy a bunch of bottles everytime so I can sell a few”
Exactly the point.
I guess you would expect to step right in front of the line if these were concert tickets??? I doesnt matter about the past or how many prior purchases you have. Blair doesnt stamp your card.
What about all the “new” people Blair could gain and is turning away???
If he wants to reward “loyal” buyers (who turn around and sell the bottles anyway) like you.
Simple…have a private sale!
If its on the web site, its first come first serve…
But that’s why Blair has the news letter and tells us Chilliheads when he’s putting the reserves up for sale. Never mind that, he usually let’s the loyals prepurchase. You have all these people jumping on the band wagon who want these “collector” items to make a quick buck. Hell I’d rather give the money to Blair himself. Why not let Blair be the broker. At least he gives a portion to charity. I don’t spend $1000′s on hot sauce because (even though my wife thinks I should) I’m looking to make a profit. I do it because I enjoy it. I love cooking and eating hot food. I love getting hot sauce from everywhere I’ve traveled. I love it when people come over my house and look at my displays (especially “the Blair’s shrine”) and say “what the f&ck is all that?” That’s being a chillihead. I even maried a food scientist! Well whatever Blair sends me I’ll be happy. I know it will be special. To the brokers out there “I’ll see you on ebay”
Can I get an AAAAHHHHHMMEENNNN!!!!!
I agree with first come, first serve. A true Chillihead would have checked extremefood.com over the weekend to see if the pre-sale was up. OR would be logging on HSB for Nick’s posting late Friday night…
On another note, I like the “one per customer”. I’m getting real tired of seeing Perfectly Pickled have auctions on Ebay for items that should be available to everyone when they are released. PP seems to get a huge lot of items just to make a profit reselling them. And some preference is taking place.
Rise Up.
I have to agree with Thakswet. I may not be a big spender when it comes to hot sauce, but that’s because I have a wife and two kids that need the money more than my collection. That doesn’t make me any less a loyal chilihead than the next guy. I first heard about Blair back in 99 in a Maxim Mag. article featuring 3AM and was instantly in love. It wasn’t until about a year ago that i was able to start collecting the AMs and anything else Blair could throw at us. Problem is, I haven’t always had the funds available to get in on the pre-orders. I have had to rely on various internet shops and ebay to get my collection, and i’ve spent a pretty penny getting my collection. On Friday the 2nd, out of curiosity, I checked extremefood.com and noticed that the 05 holiday reserve was up for grabs. I placed my order right away. I’m not greedy, I ordered 1…just 1…for my collection. Not to turn around and sell on ebay for a profit. I’m a true collector. As mentioned before, those of you out there that buy multiple bottles for the purpose of selling at a profit are brokers. This is the first time that I have had the funds available to take part in a presale, so I have no history with Blair’s site. In a sense, what Blair did was a private sale. He sent out a newsletter informing those that subscribe that he would be having a presale on the 5th. Granted he changed the date of that as he does so often, but if there is any preference given, it should be to those that subcribe to the newsletter, and then let it be first come first serve. I had watched the site in anticipation of this, and I got my order in early. I gonna be pretty pissed if i get snubbed just because joe schmoe has bought a couple bottles from the site before. And on a final note, I can apreciate what Blair is doing with the special surprise for everyone thing, but it is bad business if he is going to take peoples’ money and give them something that he doesn’t even know they want. In my opinion, if Blair is going to offer something in place of the 05 holiday reserve because he doesn’t want to give them out first come first serve, then those left in the dust should be told what is being substituted, and given the option of either purchasing it, or not being charged and get nothing. Thanks for reading. I welcome feedback on this.
well, it seems that some people don’t like to hear the sad truth sometimes. Twice now my comments have been deleted from this site. Kinda makes ya wonder
i take it back, it’s only happened once. for some reason, one of my comments didn’t appear until i posted again. my apologies.
Thanks Nick.
In regards to the newsletter not going out to Blair’s subscribers, I received two newsletters mentioning the 05 holiday reserve. One was when he announced the Lemillion going on sale from Le Gourmet Chef, and again later he informed people that he would begin presale for the holiday reserve on December 5th.
BTW. Most true collectors usually get more than 1 bottle of everything! 3 is the popular number. 1 for the collection, 1 to open and use and the 3rd bottle to trade with a friend or somebody else that has a bottle of something that you are interested in. Just because somebody gets more than 1 bottle doesn’t mean their greedy! It just means there a TRUE collector.
i’m not disagreeing with you, all i’m saying is those that buy them all up just to make a profit off them are not collectors. you know as well as i do that they’re out there. all you have to do is look at the ebay seller profiles. they’ll sell anything and everything, and when it comes to the hot sauces, you can trace back to the auction they won, how much they paid, and see that they just turn around to sell it again at a higher price. the people that do that, and try to buy as many as they can directly from blair on a presale are not collectors, they’re opportunists.
Ryan, man I’m with you. I have a wife and kid as well and my name isn’t Rockafeller. I don’t have the cabbage either to be splurging on multiple bottles of a reserve (it’s hard enough to even get one). I live in Jersey and I’ve been doing the hot sauce thing for a long time. I started when I was in the Navy. When I traveled somewhere I got a bottle of local hot sauce (if there was one). I guess you can say after the 500th bottle I was kind of hooked. I was “down the shore” (if you speak Jersey you know what I’m on about) one day and I stumbled into this funny looking bottle with a bloodshot eye and a skull keychain on it. That’s when the fun really began. Blair knows who the true fans are. I was in the doghouse for a week because I bought the LeMillion. I was told that was my Christmas pressie. Then the Holiday Reserve came out! I hope I get one – I feel like Charlie with the chocolate factory looking for the golden ticket. Hey maybe Blair can give a tour of the factory! HAHA!
Thanks Reilly! I don’t know about your wife, but mine likes to buy lots of books and clothes, and even gets on ebay for this or that. We set up a deal that we could each take so much of each paycheck to spend on ourselves. Since the things I buy are usually far more expensive (blair’s reserves) she’ll usually cut me a little slack and let me take more than my share from our income if i can get a good deal.. espeically since i buy things less frequently than she does! Just thought I’d throw some ideas your way so you don’t have to give up Christmas presents for indulging yourself.
Fuggeddaboutit! My wife takes thrifty to a new level. Funny story – I got flooded a couple of months ago. So when we were literly running out the house grabbing the important things like kids, clothes, important papers, I was running down the street with my Blair’s (“the shrine” as I put it). Holy S*^t my wife went ballistic. She’s good about my hot sauces but I have to hear it once in a while. I still keep bringing up she made me sell my bike. I hope she dosn’t look on the web to see how much some sauces go for because I’d be in trouble. She made my favorite dish last night – speghetti with Death Rain Nitro sauce (sorry gravy) & chicken. One last word. TODAY IS THE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone heard any news yet??? No e-mails for me yet.
No news, no updates on web, the suspense is killing me
Website has been updated!!!!!!! Check it out.
ok, so now there’s two reserves totalling 198 bottles up for grabs. How many people ordered? 219. We already know he’s not doing the first come first serve bit, so how is he going to decide who the unfortunate 21 people are? I could think of a few ways, but lets not go there…;)
so now regardless of the item I receive, there will be one that I do not receive; thus my collection is not complete.
Well, now I’m confused. Does this mean that those people who DIDN’T get the Holiday reserve will get this other one instead?? So, does this mean you’ll have two groups of people…one who have the Holiday Reserve and one who has the B-99? And no group that has both? This really IS getting a little bit surreal.
Well it ain’t over ’til the fat lady sings! My card still hasn’t been charged and no email from Blair’s, so I still got my fingers crossed. I would sure like to know what the “B-99″ is, sounds interesting.
So how do we know what we get? Are we on the A list or the B list?
Somewhat happy, I still think it should have been a case of the quick and the dead, but hey, that’s just me. I think it’s very nice of Blair to push forward the B-99, but we all know that the people out there buying this stuff just to turn around and sell at a profit are going to whine and bitch because they don’t have it, and vise versa with the holiday reserve. There’s always going to be this kind of problem and if Blair doesn’t want to go through this, then he needs to pre select those that he wants to sell to and not announce it to everyone. You don’t award gold medal to the guy that finish last in a race just because you have a good history with him…the early bird gets the worm…get the point?
Thanks for the update Nick. An email from be great from Blair for those who may not want the B-99 instead of the Holiday Reserve (yea, right!). That would give them a chance to just cancel the order and leave more for eveyone else! Me, I think I will be happy either way.
I guess I’m disappointed. I want everything. And all of a sudden, a new reserve with new label and top seems alot more interesting than the same ol reserve for Holiday 2005.
What ever happens, Blair rules in my book! I can’t wait!
Its gonna be all good!!! By the way, NICK, just got your kick ass catalog today. I like it alot. I tried to go onto the hotsaucecollectors.com site and it wants a user name and password for windows. How do I get onto that site???
I know what im getting.
Anyone have any idea when we’re to expect a call if we didn’t get the holiday reserve?
Well, if there is a bright side, both of these 99 bottle sets should go down in “hot sauce” history. This whole snafu may actually be a good thing and cause both “sets” to appreciate much quicker. Afterall, like everyone pointed out, there will be no one who will get both bottles. There will be some “trading” going on in the future. Leave it to Blair to keep it “alive”.
Thanks Nick, You’ve been a great help through this crisis …HAHA!
my final comment: Ba-Humbug!!
Hotsaucecollectors.com! OMG another site. I got the password thingie as well. How do I sign up? My wife thinks I’ve gone to hell altogether. I going mad for hotsauce! This site kicks ass! Nick, can you send me a catalog as well? I had everyone going mad at the office today, I brought in a bottle of Sudden Death to shut some guy up who was going on about hot sauce. After he left the lunch room in pain I dumped a good helping on my “street meat” to jazz up the hot sauce that comes with it. Feel Alive!
I’m with thakswet…Ba Humbug… I don’t think it’s a win win situation like Blair’s website says. Another collector sauce shouldn’t make up for the problem with 1 sauce!!! I would rather Blair make 199 of the Holiday Reserve instead of making 99 of each of 2 different sauces. At least that we would all have a chance at owning both of the collector sauces. Then release the B-99 later like planned with only 99 available to the first 99 people that ordered the Holiday Reserve if they were interested in a bottle. Like anybody wouldn’t be interested!!! LOL.
It’s win-win because Blair is trying to make sure that everyone gets a reserve. The only people that are getting upset are the greedy collectors who “deserve” it more than everyone else. How can new collectors get started if the”True” fans are the only ones able to get new sauces? They go to Ebay! But the “Diehard Chiliheads” complain about that too, so… Bottom line, if you can’t be happy with getting one reserve and not both, than you’re just being greedy, which Blair obviously isn’t.
the bottom line is this. I have been in many situations like this one. Concert tickets, Star Wars tickets (yeah, i’m a geek) and even video game consoles. In each situation there were people or groups that felt they deserved special privilage over everyone else for one reason or another. Doesn’t matter what your position is on this, whether you’re a collector, or a money hungry eBay monger, both sides are losing. What’s going to happen is that those that get the holiday reserve, some of those are going to show up on eBay right away, same goes for the B-99. the “brokers” will simply have to spend a few more bucks to get what they don’t have, but again, they’ll turn around and sell it for more than they purchased. Those of us that have to budget to get in on these “presales” are going to lose out on an opportunity to get one of the reserves and will have to fork out more money in the future to line the pockets of the brokers. In any situation in life, there are the haves, and the have nots. Based on statements from Blair himself, he obviously favors the haves. Giving special consideration to those that have bought from him in the past (people that have shelled out lots of money to him). How can you say that Blair isn’t greedy? Keep in mind that above all else, Blair is a business man…a good one at that. Yes, he may donate $100 of some sales to charity, but in the case of holiday reserve #1, he’s still keeping $900 of that. He sells the first and last numbers of a reserve at extreme prices because he know that fanatics like us will pay for it. That’s one hell of a profit. Lets just admit that we’re all greedy and we all want everything we can get our hands on. We live in a capitolist society, but some of us are more greedy than others. I’ve gone away from my point (on cold medicine and pain killers right now), so let me end by saying…Blair caters to those that he thinks are going spend more money on him. If he didn’t, he would hae simply said tough shit if you weren’t one of the first 99 to order the holiday reserve. Better luck in Feb.
Nick- yeah, i’m a little hopped up right now and i know i’m just adding fuel to the fire out there. If i really didn’t like and didn’t understand what Blair was doing, i woldn’t be buying the stuff. I guess i’m just having a little too much fun with all this hysteria. I’ll try to be a little more considerate and think before i type from here on out. BTW, i requested a catalog some time ago and haven’t received it. should i put in another request? big fan of your store. Thanks Nick
Response to comment #36 by Thakswet – In regards to Perfectly Pickled, I won’t buy from them unless absolutely necessary (so far i’ve managed not to). I recently went on a search to replace my numbered 3AM that had cracked pretty badly (needless to say i opened it up and used it…love the stuff). I contacted PP because they say that if you’re looking for something, they can probably get it for you. Their response was they could get me a numbered 3AM, but it would cost me $75-$100 plus S&H. I did a little more searching and scored on for only $39.95. price went up $10 shortly after i purchased it, but that’s still a lot cheaper than what PP was offering. I’m not trying to bad mouth PP, they do have some really good deals from time to time, but for the most part they do charge a bit more to make an outrageous profit.
Why did he send out an email saying pre-orders for the Holiday Reserve would open on Dec. 5 and then open the pre-orders on Dec. 2?
Why, when he asked for feedback from people about producing 199 Holiday Reserves instead of 99 (to satisfy all the orders), did he NOT mention that he would just release another 99 bottle reserve in it’s place, thus screwing collectors from having a complete collection? (If I knew this I, as well as most of you would have said 199!!!)
And we all know, that come February, some special “valentine’s”, “C-99″ or some other reserve will be coming… and what happens if I’m traveling and not able to check my email on the day the newsletter goes out?… answer: The same thing that happened to the 119 people who ordered the Holiday Reserve after they were sold out?
And will we be getting some sort of Certificate of Authentication so the triple numbering mistake doesn’t happen…?
Thanks again Nick. I put in another request and made sure that all fields were filled in correctly. I have to say that both this blog and your store site rock. You seem to have some of the best retail prices i’ve seen out there and thank you for that. My wife and I have ordered from you a few times and hope to buy more in the near future. Can’t wait for your collector site to be up and running.
Holy crap I have an idea….Make 199 B-99s and give me an opportunity to buy one!
LMAO Thakswet. That’s what happened to me with the 16 million. I was out of town the weekend that the e-mail went out announcing the presale for that and i missed out on it.
As for the case of the three 4AM’s with the same number, i e-mailed extremefood inquiring about that and never received a response. Honestly, i would pay no mind to the one on eBay that was opened. The resin on that one was severely discolored which can happen to things by sitting in direct sunlight for a very very long time, but not in a fridge. I honestly believe that one was a fake. As for the other two, I still have questions about those.
Not yet Nick, but i do keep an eye on their website. It’s difficult for me to get away at the moment with me working 50+ hours at the office each week including some weekend, two kids, and wife who’s work schedule changes from week to week. I pretty much have to rely on the internet for my collecting purposes since I can’t seem to find a shop in the Portland metro area. I did live on the coast for a couple years. There was a shop in Lincoln City that specialized in hot sauces and rare collectables, but like most businesses along the coast here, they went under before i could grab what i wanted.
For comment #83. I e-mailed the guy on ebay with the #642 and NEVER got a response. I smell something fishy with his 4am. I know mine is real cause I got it from Blair. And who knows about the pic on Blairs site. Its all good. I have a 4am and thats all that matters to me now.
Has anyone received a phone call or an e-mail letting them know if they got one of the reserves or not? I haven’t received anything and haven’t heard if anyone else has. Just wondering
I spoke to them on Monday. I inquired about the 97 lucky (I thought) people who got the reserve. She was hesitant but asked my name and put me on hold. When she returned she said “Do you live at(she reads my address)”? I said Yes! I do….”Well you got one” Awesome…any idea wht number I asked? Somewhere between 2 anf 98 she said.
So I got one….Cool. (I also voted to keep the run at 99)
But now I have missed out again? I nearly killed myself watching the website, waiting for them to pull the trigger. My patience paid off……but now I have missed out on the B-99 and will now have to be at the mercy of Big profit makers on ebay that were previously mentioned.
Insert Sad face here….What a mess
Same here, I e-mailed Blair Monday and he told me to go ahead and call the 1-800 number and someone will be waiting for my call. Just give her my name. She told me I got the B-99.
Wanna sell it….lol
Scott- Shot you an e-mail.
To prove that it was not first come first serve, I place my order about 9 EST on 12/2 and still wound up with a B-99. I’m not too disapointed, but I had really hoped to get the holiday reserve to go with my 04 edition. Guess that’s just the nature of the beast.
Ryan, you seem to be correct about the first come first serve. My order was placed on the 3rd in the morning (EST here also) and I am getting a Holiday reserve, at least that’s what they said on the phone today.
WOOT! I’m getting a holiday reserve…
Well that figures. Like i said, cater to the people that have forked over the cash before. At least he’s not a politician…yet.
True. We’ll see what happens on eBay I guess.
Blair pushing the B99 release up is quite an admirable thing to do-and one of the most straight up things I’ve seen in business-especially in a collectors market. You think Microsoft would make an extra XBOX 360 just for lil Timmy (which they could manufacture in 14 minutes)? Think again man. For the record I would also like to add that PerfectlyPickled is straight up & very trustworthy.
I don’t recall anyone questioning Perfectly Pickled’s honesty, I just stated that I thought their prices were generally higher than most. I even went as far as to say that they sometimes have great deals. If you would be so kind, please point out which comment stated anything that would imply they are dishonest. Thanks.
Well that is some very interesting reading. I really like your passion. But I need to make a few points:
1. The only reason I have made any exceptions for this Holiday Reserve is simply because we a problem with our email to our members. The product must be put on the site prior to an email going out or it will not work. The product was put up but the email did not make it until Sunday night.
2. I make the Reserves because it is a passion in me. I get great joy from being creative and producing the finest and rarest ingredients on the face of this planet.
2a. I am doing my best to produce the B-99 that was not coming until Feb just to get more bottles in my Chilipals hands
3. The reserves are not created for a source of income (see #2) They are with great pride and many hours of labor in creation, I get so excited just knowing that box is going to arrive at your door and you are as excited as me to open it (like a little kid)
4. I could have very simply made 299 bottles of each sold them for the same price and had no issue for anyone. I made only 99 so it would be extra special and unique for my Chilipals. Not for some Bullshit scheme…..It is just not needed in my life.
This is the real deal and for those of you who really know me and how I live my life by Karma and Honor then we have no issue at all and I love you…. For those of you who do not get it ..(Just a few it seems) If you are in anyway unhappy with the deal or think something here is not fair PLEASE do me and your fellow Chiliheads a huge favor and cancel your order… Let me give it to someone who will Value it…..You are dealing with a real person here who happens to be HARDCORE HOT SAUCE NUT nothing more… Thats it… Keepin it very real…….Happy Holidays and Feel Alive Blair
Hey Blair, Thanks for putting up with my comments. If you’d like me to cancel my order, I’ll do so. But while I have your attention, I’m sure you’ve seen the comments regarding the triple 4AM #642 deal…Any chance you could shed some light on that for us? A lot of are confused about this and there’s all kinds of conspiracy theory going on. Thanks for your time.
oh, must have missed it. my bad
Im happy, but where did the name “B99″ come from?? Its interesting. The next ones should be L–A–I–R 99. LOL
About Perfectly Pickled and ebay – PP are trustworthy people, they have their shit in order and their feedback is excellent. I have purchased from them before and I would do so again. I know what they have is legit and in excellent condition.
And why is Blair is the only one allowed to make a profit off of his sauces? So we should buy eggs & milk only from farmers and not from the supermarket. Shame on those supermarket people for making a profit too.
PP is a business. Same as every other retail hot sauce website. You wouldn’t badmouth extremefood, sweatnspice or peppers for making money. Only happens that PP sells only collectables. Shame on you for not thinking of it first.
Ebay is not to find something cheap – you want cheap you get cheap. Ebay is a collectors market. If you want something that you can’t find anywhere else you find it on ebay. If you want something badly enough you pay top dollar.
Furthermore I never recalled PP having pre-sales of large lots of Blair’s items. PP used to have one of the only hot sauce stores on ebay and I am sure they purchased in bulk from their suppliers. They used to have a B & M store as well. But come on – who can make a decent living on a less than 3.00 profit on regular sauces? And on top of that take ebay and paypal fees – you can’t feed a family on that.
PP is also trading assistant (if you looked at their auctions) – did you ever think that they got their merchandise that way? Maybe the owner wants a certain amount?
And to the guy with the 3 AM Signed & Numbered – wasn’t the original price like 39.99? Now the bottles are no longer numbered – if you buy off of Blair – correct? You got lucky, you purchased a numbered bottle for the original retail. PP was right on it is worth double because they are no longer being made. The guy who sold it probably didn’t know what it was worth.
And while we are on the topic of worth – no 4 AM is worth over 5,000 dollars (as posted on Blair’s site that one sold for). You – the collectors – dictate what bottles are worth – and if someone is willing to pay PP 75 dollars for a signed bottle of 3AM then it is worth 75.00 to someone – just not you.
As a matter of fact they just had a shitload of reserves up at 199.99 – a mint 4 AM sold only for 290.00 – so yeah I guess they are WAY overpriced.
Blair you’re sound as a pound in my book. And yer man over at Perfectly Pickled is sound too. I think he’s fair with his prices. I brought some things from him and he threw in some extra goodies. That was totally cool. Look, I have a problem when a reserve comes out and someone buys lets say 50. That’s being a whore. Can’t knock the hustle but it’s being a whore. This reserve, Blair I think did the real honorable thing and said “ok 1 bottle per customer”. Then he tried to make everyone happy with the B-99. I think it’s a win win because everyone is still getting a limited edition bottle. If I get a Holiday or a B-99, I hope PP has the other for sale. – Just a note I just had my pizza with a sprinlkling of Death Rain Nitro and Mega Death to sort out my hangover. Feeling Alive!!!! I’m curious what’s the sus with Blair’s “cutting room floor” Now that’s somthing I would do just about anything for to get my hands on one of those.
Nick – I just love these collectors who want top quality rare merchandise for dirt cheap. If they want to pay original retail then they should have purchased during pre-sales.
It just irked me b/c Chris and his family are good people…. Sorry for the rant.
It is amazing that my business, Perfectly Pickled LLC, is a topic of conversation. The last time I checked, we still live in America, right?? I have been dealing in collectables for several years now and I only sell top end products that are in MINT condition.
My customers have no problem with my prices or my integrity when it comes to collectibles. I love this BLOG!! I can speak to a whole group of collectors at one time. It’s better then an Amway meeting LOL…
It is amazing how making a profit became a crime.
To all of my friends I have nothing but kind words for you and much respect. To all of the haters, I love you too!! Chris
Bradley, sorry if I offended you, but let me reiterate what I have said in my previous posts. I never said anything about PP being dishonest. I e-mailed them about the 3AM, they were very helpful and gave me a quote. I looked for a better deal and found one. That’s not bad mouthing, that’s smart shopping. Yes, I lucked out and thought I’d share my good fortune. I did not share the website from which I purchased a numbered 3AM for so little, but informed everyone out there that the people I bought mine from still have a few left and the price has gone up $10. So those that may be interested can hunt it down as I did. Yes, I saw all the reserves they listed on ebay for $199. Let me quote myself for the third time COMMENT #78 “I’M NOT TRYING TO BAD MOUTH PP, THEY DO HAVE SOME REALLY GOOD DEALS FROM TIME TO TIME” and COMMENT #98 “THEY SOMETIMES HAVE GREAT DEALS”.
Mad_Reiley you are good people and many thanks for the props…. Eat Heat!! Chris
“Look, I have a problem when a reserve comes out and someone buys lets say 50. That’s being a whore.”
Mad -
I agree but … If a buyer requests 50 and the seller sells them 50 bottles …. who do you blame?
accidently hit the enter key before i was done with that one…OOPS. So yeah, read these posts how you want to. I’m not going to fight on a blog of all places. I have expressed my opinions as everyone else here does and if you choose to interpret things in your own way, that’s your thing. Just don’t blame me for your high blood presure when you get all worked up over nothing. Its time to move on to more important discussions such as…when is Blair gonna start growing steroid chili’s? can he break the 16 million barrier? Then he could make some reserves and name them after shamed sports celebrities…just a thought.
I know this is not refuting anyone’s claim to the contrary, but Chris at PP is a top-notch guy. My only wish is that I could afford to do more of my shopping with him!!!
This 10 chilli heads “cutting room floor” has always been on my mind. Now that is LIMITED!! I gots ta have one.
Yeh we can go back and forth on this one for ever. I think it’s f&*kin cool (and another cudos out to Blair & Chris) that the people we talk about actually read and care what we think. Sooooo Nick, any insight about “the CR Floor”? Blair, any hints for the Chilliheads? What’s the scandal? We should start a new post on this one.

Interesting. Can’t wait to see the bottle!
Blair’s site said that reserves would be shipping on or around this date. Just wondering if anyone has had their cards charged, and is the B-99 going out at the same time? No activity on my card yet…
None here yet.
I talked with the nice lady at Blairs on wed. I was told that the holiday reserve will start shipping on the 16th, the b-99 may not start shipping until the first of the week. They are being hammered with response on these items. I’m sure that they are burning the midnight hour trying to make the deadlines.
Does anyone even know anything abouth the b-99? What size is it, what scoville rating, etc. I read that it will have black and white wax, but other than that, the rest is pretty much a mystery.
I read on Blair’s site that he was originally going to sell the B-99 for $200. I have to say that I am speachless. I jumped the gun in previous posts by making statements that implied that Blair was in so many words just out to make a buck. I don’t know Blair personally as some of you may and I now feel like shit for saying what I did. I’m the assistant manager of credit for a knife manufacturer and I guess I let the mentality of the majority of my company’s customers override my view of all businessmen. I have never known any business that knowingly sold product at a loss unless it was to either snare people in to spend more money, or because the business was in some form of bankruptcy. Blair, thanks for everything you’ve done. It’s difficult to find a truly honest and appreciative businessman these days, and you are just that. No I’m not trying to kiss ass, I just think that credit needs to be given where credit is due. Thanks again.
Last I heard, B-99s were going to ship out today. Has anyone that got the B-99 had their card charged? I’m a little anxious to find out if I’m still getting one or not.
Wow! Lots of Comments on this topic, is this a record Nick? Today, Blair’s told me that I had a Holiday reserve and that it would be processed and shipped tomorrow afternoon. I was starting to get nervous because it wasn’t showing up on my bank statement! I am very happy with the Holiday, but now I will be so curious about the B-99! One is being sold on Ebay right now and it’s already up to around $200. And the seller doesn’t even have it yet!
By all rights that guy should have his auction taken off by eBay. This isn’t a personal opinion. My brother deals in Starwars crap on eBay. He, and some other guys that get in on presales from Master Replicas put up auctions for autographed Vader helmets and eBay shut them down because they didn’t physically have the item that they were auctioning. So I second Nick’s words of caution.
Regarding the eBay auction: I looked at his feedback, and it is nearly perfect, only one negative out of over 600. And I just checked eBays policy on pre-sales and this is what it says:
eBay permits Pre-sale listings only on a limited basis. The seller must guarantee that the item will be available for shipping within 30 days from the date of purchase (i.e., the day the listing ends or the date the item is purchased from a store front listing). The seller must also clearly indicate within the listing the fact that the item is a pre-sale item with a delivery date that indicates the item will be shipped by the 30th day from the end date of the listing. Additionally, this text must be no less than the default font size of the eBay Sell-Your-Item form. Currently, the default font size is HTML font size 3.
Thanks Tracy
ok, now i may have reason to be upset. There’s a guy on eBay that sells sets of 16 mil. and 05 halloween reserves. Now he’s got 2 auctions, not 1, but 2, offering an 05 holiday reserve with each set. How did he manage to get 2 of the 05 holiday reserve if the orders were limited to 1 per customer?
The auctions I looked at are the following links. Now unless my eyes are really screwed up, I must be sicker than I thought if I’m reading these incorrectly. Let me know if I need to seek medical help. If I’m wrong about this, I’ll stop posting here…I just seem to cause trouble.
AND
Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t mean to imply that Blair did anything wrong here. I figured the guy places multiple orders with different credit cards or something. I just thought it was something worth looking into.
SHIPPING UPDATE – Blair has announced on his site the shipping of B-99s will be on or around January 2nd
Hey Chilipals, Just to get the facts clear. NO ONE has a Holiday Reserve yet. NO ONE HAS ONE IN HAND…..WE SHIP TO THE WEST COAST FIRST FROM NJ. (NOT BY NUMBER) And As far as EBAY you Know I love it but it can be the Wild Wild West…Feel Alive
Thanks for the update Blair. Keep up the great work on these one of a kind Reserves. You know we all love them! Looks like my card was charged for a bottle today so hopefully my Holiday Reserve is on it’s way…
Just got my Holiday Reserve. Have not opened it yet. Waiting until lunchbreak to check it out, so still not sure what # or what it even looks like.
just opened mine; got number 16. The new mouse pad is great!
Ok, got mine opened during lunch. Number 42 here. I must say I am very happy with it. I can’t wait to see the B-99 however. Just the circumstances of how these were released will make them both instant classics. I would have been happy either way on this one.
Holiday Reserve #13 is in da house! We’ll post a pic of it on our blog for those interested. Don’t look for it on eBay anytime soon, btw. It won’t be there!
Shameless plug alert!! The pic and article is now posted on our blog. Read at your leisure. Thanks, Nick, for letting us plug that here…not to mention for just having a great site in general. ‘Nuff said.
Guess what the nice man in the brown truck just delivered?
The #66 bottle of 2005 Holiday Reserve.
Thanks Blair….
We knew it would happen…05 Holiday Reserve #98 up for auction on Ebay. Starting bid 199.99, buy it now $399.99. Check it out here
I can’t even see the number on the bottle, I just went off the title of the auction
Somethings up. That auction is over.
“The seller ended this listing early because the item is no longer available for sale.”
nick,
Have you seen this, it is awesome!!
link
Don’t know if any of you have been keeping an eye on this, but the B-99 that was up for presale on Ebay sold this morning for $405.00…
I think the B-99 will be more valuable than the Holiday reserve because all of the biggest collectors ordered early, and received the holiday reserve.
I ordered early too and got the B-99. I got it because I hadn’t bought directly from Blair before, but I’m cool with it
I got the B-99. I was just bidding on an 2005 holiday reserve ,which was gona be my last resrve for a while, to go with it – #67. I was winning until 9 secs from the end when thebigshow23 outbidded me. I’m gutted!!! The other sellers of the Holiday Reserve 2005 will not ship outside of the US either which makes it worse
mike, that monopoly game is killer
