I Love Breakfast Burritos

Breakfast burritos are my favorite breakfast food, hands down. In Oregon, I would stop at Burrito Amigos in the AM before going to work and pick myself up an Egg, Potato, Chile and Bacon burrito. Now, since living to NYC, I have yet to find a decent (or any) place to get one. I tried the local burrito shop once, since they do have a breakfast menu up, but the nazi lady behind the counter yelled and said they weren’t open yet. It was 9:30 and their doors were wide open, silly me I thought that meant they were open.

New Mexico Breakfast Burrito

This is a fine example of a well formed breakfast burrito. Picked this puppy up in New Mexico (circa 2005). There’s eggs, sausage, potatoes, cheese and NM Green Chiles in there. All for only $2.50! Perfect way to start the day. How did I find it? I drove the rental car around until I found a run down shack of a place and I walked right in.

Now that’s what I call a good breakfast!

Breakfast Burrito Mess

Now this breakfast burrito on the other hand was a complete disaster - well at least visually. Taste wise this thing rocked for a healthy burrito. It essentially consisted of a bunch of leftover brown rice, two eggs and a bunch of Salsa de Rosa Extreme Heat Salsa. I also tossed a bunch of Empanada Mama green sauce on the top as well.

Today in San Franciso I managed to hunt down the elusive breakfast burrito! That’s one thing that California will always have over New York - easy access to burritos (at any time of day). And I’d post a picture of it, but wouldn’t you know it, I forgot the memory card reader for the camera, so you’ll have to envision the burrito from my words. Ingredients: Scambled eggs, fried potatos, fresh green chiles & pieces of chorizo. No cheese necessary for this bad boy. Talk about the way to start the day. And now, as I sit here in the admirals club, I’m craving another burrito - so I’m going to go hunt one down here in the airport. Catch up with everyone later after I land in NY tomorrow am sometime…

Mmmmm, Nick, that looks good!

I work at EA Games now and their on site cook makes me a breakfast burrito to die for. Eggs, mushrooms, red bell peppers, sausage, bacon, tomato, and whatever hot sauce I hand him. He knows me, so he’ll end up dumping 1/4 of the bottle on the burrito, no matter how hot it is.

One time he dumped 1/4 a bottle of Mark’s Naga Snake Bite on the burrito when I wasn’t looking….sneeky bastard…
