I think you can tell by the lack of straight answers to your questions on pricing- I would have only to give an “opinion” on it, prices are what you make of them. If you can afford it and depending on how bad you want it, the prices are ok. Can you find both of those products cheaper- yeah probably, with some work and some networking here, but how bad to you want to get your hands on them. I look at it as an investment= buy, trade and sell. If you can swing the price now grab it, if you come across it again down the line for less money you could always sell what you have, try and trade it, or just upgrade to two of them. It is a very hard question to answer and no one wants to say “yes” and next week see it for cheaper and feel they may have steered you wrong, I wouldn’t want that to happen to me.

Hey Tim, we all started small and as time grows so does the collection. This Blog is the best thing to have happened to the Hot Sauce Collecting Community, you here it over and over in the comments from so many people from regular Joe’s, to growers, to producers, the skilled and the novice. I have learned so much by just sitting back and reading what all of these folks are doing. I also am pretty new to the E-bay thing, my Wife pursues that angle, I still love the “Hunt”- stopping in stores, markets, and such looking for unique bottles and small manf. or other country’s of origin. I think your doing the right thing by checking in here, there is a huge amount of knowledge anyone can pick up on and Nick is a “Fountain of Information”- any question I have ever thrown his way, no matter how obscure, he has always gotten me an answer or pointed me in the direction to get the answer. There are a lot of stand up folks who frequent this blog who offer and give help all the time. If there is ever anything I can do to help you out- E-mail Nick and request my address, I’ll see what I can do……………….Vic

Agreed. I am somewhat of a collector as well, albeit very focused on what I want. It’s fun in the beginning as the price of things isn’t that high, then come the hard-to-fill spots in the collection when you have to crack the wallet. I think the info Vic got was right on, it depends how much you really want it.

I think each bottle in your collection is as valuable as you deem it to be. What I mean is, determine what you are looking for, then put some feelers out and see what things are going for on ebay and at hot sauce stores. I think the best deals are at Sweat -n- Spice. Most importantly, is that if you don’t mind paying a price for a bottle, the only one it makes a difference to is yourself. I know that I have paid some pretty hefty amounts for some of the bottles in my collection, but I didn’t mind that much. Of course I am always looking for a deal or a cheaper price, but thats what research is for. You can never research a product enough so that you will know a good deal when you see it.

Comment by Mrfreeze (823) - 4/18/2006 @ 3:45 pm | [ Quote ]

Very helpful info being given out here. If you have deep pockets you can have just about any bottle you want, if not then like Vic stated you my have to hunt or by chance just stumble across that special bottle. It also depends on what you are looking for all of one # or are you just happy to score any # of a limited edition.

Hello to all that read this, I have been logging on to the web site for about a week now. I am using my initials that were used to identify my bottles of n-59. To answer a few questions about me I did have a entry in the cutting room floor contest With pictures of my collection, myself, my son, and my grandson in it. I have not sold or traded any of my collection but did say I would be willing to do some trades. I must say that untill the cutting room floor contest came along I had no idea how big the chilehead world is. Now after being turned on to this web-site (thank you pmac) I am realizing it is still even bigger than I ever imagined. I have already gotten hooked on the site and find myself anxious to read all the comments. It sounds like everybody is pretty commited to each other and I hope to join in and be a part of this community.

I hope that tells you a little bit about me, and if you don’t mind I would like to ask for some info: I will be in Las Vegas playing in a softball tournament this weekend and I will have a little time to burn. Does anybody know where any hot sauce stores are in Vegas?

Thanks for reading this and thanks in advance for any leads on stores in Vegas.

MR

Well let me try this again, hopefully I get it right. I want to introduce myself to you all and decided to use my initials MR as pmac used them to ID my bottles of N-59. I have been logging in on the HSB web site for about a week now and reading different topics and your comments. I never knew how big of a chilehead community is out there untill I started reading all the entries in the cutting room floor and now on this web site. I am hooked already and always look forward to logging on. I hope I can get involved and be a part of this community. I always talk about and try to spread the heat with friends, family, and co-workers but Most of them just don’t get it. Well I hope to get to know everybody on this site and eventually meeting some of you at fiery food festivals and shows.

Hi MR. From what Ive seen already I see you have an awesome collection (from the N-59s alone)! I know what you mean about the friends and family not getting it, mine just keep trying to make me sell my collection. If I do sell a bottle, it will only be to get another of something I need.

It’s actually not a bad idea to have your collections appraised. Just in case. If you have the original receipts, it makes it a lot easier to have the ‘market adjustment’ added to it.

Good afternoon John! Hope all is well. Glad to hear. She will like seeing the compliments. Hasen’t seen them yet. She is really quite shy. Well unless you get her into a few beers :) Then all hell breaks loose. This is why I really want to take her to one of these shows one weekend. Time and money the only two factors holding us back still :)

Hey CaJohn- we received our package yesterday, thank you so much for making it happen. You did not have to do that, we could have waited for the bottles to come in. What a beautiful product that is, I had not seen one in person- just on line, man it looks great on the shelf, thanks again from both me and Wendy.

I swear that there were three bears! Actually, I believe that it was Wanza who saw them first. She grabbed my camera and took a pic. Still can’t figure out why the bears didn’t show up in the pic!

CaJohn said as she was snapping the pic they were headed into the woods, which is prolly how they missed being in the pic…..then again, you all could be crazy too :P

Yea prolly so. They were probably scared off by all of the commotion inside of the car. It was all that CaJohn and I could do, to hold back MSK from attacking those poor helpless animals.. :)

LMAO, poor helpless animals indeed!!! I am glad you and CaJohn held him back, the game warden wouldn’t be happy if MSK started hurting the cuddly bears… ROFLMAO

Actually I wanted Tracy and I to try an experiment. Mrs. CaJohn told us if we ever encountered a bear to raise our arms high in the air and make lots of noise to make ourselves appear larger than the bear. Also…If the it attacks, punch him in the nose! With Tracy for an assistant, it seemed logical and sensible to test the theory. For the life of me I don’t know why Tracy was so against it. Afterall…I volunteered to be the one to make myself look larger! All he had to do was punch the damn bear’s nose! :D

LMAO…Wish I had been there, I could have tried Mrs. Ryan’s tactics and piss myself, but as I have stated before, it won’t make here go away, so its likely to not work on a bear :-P
