Background
The Hot Sauce Blog (HSB) was started by Nick Lindauer in October of 2004 on the Sweatnspice.com domain and was then moved to its own domain (hotsauceblog.com) on 1/30/05. Initially, the HSB started out as just recipes, news and assorted informational posts. As time went on and a community grew around it, the HSB has evolved, covering everything from events, product announcements, manufacturer interviews and much much more.
Mission
The HSB has and will continue to cover any chilehead related news, events or products out there. Favoritism is not granted to any advertiser, manufacturer or friend nor will there ever be. Some manufacturers put out more news and chilehead related information, but that does not mean the HSB is showing a bias towards them - we report all news & events equally. That being said, we cannot cover news that’s not published within the public domain or not communicated to one of our trusted reviewers.
Manufacturers, Retailers & Other
Any manufacturer, retailer or “other” is more then welcome to send in products for review, press releases, product news, sale specials or event information at anytime. Time sensitive materials will be published as soon as possible in order to get the message out in a timely manner.
Commentors
First and foremost the HSB is a community and all community members are welcome to express their opinions, be them good or bad. But in the same manner defaming, derogatory or insulting comments/posts will not be tolerated - not to censure a persons voice or opinion, but to encourage a positive chilehead community. The HSB has over 5,000 readers but in reality, maybe only 100 post comments and maybe 50 of those 100 post comments frequently. If the comments being posted (by anyone, not just regulars) are viewed in a negative manner, that will (and does) discourage less vocal readers from commenting.
HSB Executive Board
An executive board is being formed of a core group of chileheads that will aid in the mitigation of some of the controversy and issues that arise here on the HSB. The 3-5 members will determine what comments should be filtered, what posts should or should not be put up and basically help assist with the development of the HSB community.

Any chance of handing out titles for these positions Nick? Like for instance, “Bus Monitor”, “Winder Licker”, “Bus Driver”, etc.? Would be hilarious, The HSB SB Executive Board. ![]()
I prefer Supreme Overlord of Assimilation and Propaganda.
Nicely put. This is a truly great addition chilehead-dom!

Very nicely written, Nick. There’s an art to creating a good mission statement, and you’ve got the knack.
