HSB readers - Please welcome the newest reviewer John. Below is a bit of background on John, another fellow hot sauce addict.

Hello. My name is John. I’m a hot sauce addict.

It all started about 20 years ago. A cold pork chop. No microwave oven. And a bottle of tabasco sauce. What can I say, I was just a kid. I didn’t know any better. And things just kind of went from there.

I moved on to buffalo wings. Nothing to hard, you know? Just a little heat. Frank’s with butter? No problem. Try the Frank’s Extra hot?? Well, I guess.

I was in control for a long time. But then it snowballed. I think Desert Pepper company’s XXX habenero sauce did me in. One drop, and I was in love. Then came Dave’s Insanity. Endorphin rush wasn’t far behind. I only fueled the addiction in Key West, where I found Mad Dog 357. The peppers themselves came next. Pimentos? Habeneros? As long as it had flavor and capsaicin, I didn’t care. Now I can’t stop. And I don’t want to be cured. But I do want to share my fondness for hot sauce with you.

Some people say you can’t eat hot in the Midwest. I disagree. Here in Detroit there are plenty of good places for hot, exquisite food. But I believe one’s own kitchen is always superior to the best restaurant. So in addition to hot sauce reviews, I’ll be sure to share the recipes I create. I also will be starting on creating a hot sauce of my own, and I’ll chronicle that experience here as well. Until then - Eat well. Eat hot.
