The only parties I have are the ones I have to feed at work! I will be working 14 hours a day all the way through Tues. cooking for all the crazy vacationers here - so while we remember all those who gave us our independence, also remember all those service people out there who don’t get vacations and work even harder when everyone else is relaxing! :)

Just a little side note while I’m whining here :)
Grilling food is much less fun when you’re in a 100 degree kitchen, crowded by 3 other sweaty dudes, and a crazy waitress is screaming at you from the other side of the line. Gotta love it! I do!

Greetings and Happy 4th of July weekend to all the hot heads here. It’s hot as hell here in Austin, and that’s just the way I like it! That’s what God made Barton Springs for anyhow.

Baseball-
My Astros are sucking right now! I hate inter-league play-it has killed The Astros since it started! The are playing The Rangers this weekend, who suck too, and they beat us last night! Arggg!
Any good BBQ plans?-
The second annual Rib-a-palooza is being held on the 4th in some friends backyard. It’s a mini-rib cook-off, with lots of good beer, of course! My winning recipe, which I perfected last night on some beer ribs is very simple: Tabasco Chipotle Sauce, and Knorr’s Chipotle Seasoning (they come in little tiny cubes in the Mexican section of the store). You crumble them up on the ribs after a good dousing with the hot sauce. (I know you don’t need me to tell you how to cook ribs!)
You could certainly use any hot sauce-it’s all good! I’ll try to post some photos over on the board(will it take images?)

Coming up here in Austin on Sunday, August 27th is the Austin Hot Sauce Festival, in which I am a judge. Not any kind of celebrity judge mind you, but a ‘grunt’ judge (20-25 of us) to mow through the 400+ entries of individual, restaurant, and commercial sauces. It falls on my birthday this year, so I can’t think of a better way to celelbrate than burning my mouth up!

Movie Review #3
I have not had a lot of time for movies lately, but here are a few thoughts.

1. Annapolis…. I liked it, but it was to much like An Officer and a Gentlemen for me.

2. Underworld 2…. Not bad for a re-make, had some good effects, but I think it messed with the history of the Lychans and the Vampires to much.

3. Munich…..I didn’t like it, just sort of rambled.

Some up-coming must see movies.

1. Da Vinci Code
2. Pirate of the Caribean 2

Comment #29:
Comment by Mrs.Ryan (2181) - 7/1/2006 @ 1:17 pm |

I seen Munich last night, it went on and on and on, I kind of lost sight of what the plot was, and the end was a little difficult to swallow. it was ok though, I didn’t like or dislike it. if that makes sense.

Hey all just to let you know as I didn’t have any interest for the frostbite 4 Test #7 here it’s on ebay for what I paid for it (hope this doesn’t offend anyone). I need to try and get my $$ back so I can have a bid on the charity bottles. I just hope it goes to a nice home as it’s one of the rarest bottles I have :(

Nate did you contact them before sending your order? Sorry to ask but it looks very much like a store that I saw them in and asked for the shipping cost to the UK - they replied saying they had none and hadn’t updated their website as the IT man had left.

everyone must be really busy this month, this thread has been slow :( to bad I am pretty good at getting off topic. here is a joke for ya though hope it doesn’t offend anyone. this was on the tonight show I thought it was hilarious.
Very bad date but Very Funny

If you didn’t see this on the Tonight show, I hope you’re sitting down when you read it. This is probably the funniest date story ever, first date or not!!! We have all had bad dates.. but this takes the cake.

This just tells you how tough it is to be single nowadays.

This was on the “Tonight Show” with Jay Leno.

Jay went into the audience to find the most embarrassing first date that a woman ever had.

The winner described her worst first date experience. There was absolutely no question as to why her tale took the prize!

She said it was midwinter… snowing and quite cold…and the guy had taken her skiing in the mountains outside Salt Lake City, Utah.

It was a day trip (no overnight). They were strangers, after all, and truly had never met before.

The outing was fun but relatively uneventful until they were headed home late that afternoon.

They were driving back down the mountain, when she gradually began to realize that she should not have had that extra latte. They were about an hour away from anywhere with a rest room and in the middle of nowhere!

Her companion suggested she try to hold it, which she did for a while.

Unfortunately, because of the heavy snow and slow going, there came a point where she told him that he had better stop and let her go beside the road, or it would be the front seat of his car. They stopped and she quickly crawled out beside the car, yanked her pants down and started. In the deep
snow she didn’t have good footing, so she let her butt rest against the rear fender to steady herself.

Her companion stood on the side of the car watching for traffic and indeed was a real gentleman and refrained from peeking. All she could think about was the relief she felt despite the rather embarrassing nature of the situation.

Upon finishing however, she soon became aware of another sensation.

As she bent to pull up her pants, the young lady discovered her buttocks were firmly glued against the car’s fender.

Thoughts of tongues frozen to poles immediately came to mind as she attempted to disengage her flesh from the icy metal. It was quickly apparent that she had a brand new problem due to the
extreme cold.

Horrified by her plight and yet aware of the humor of the moment, she answered her date’s concerns about “what is taking so long” with a reply that indeed, she was “freezing her butt off and in need of some assistance!”

He came around the car as she tried to cover herself with her sweater and then, as she looked imploringly into his eyes, he burst out laughing.

She too, got the giggles and when they finally managed to compose themselves, they assessed her dilemma.

Obviously, as hysterical as the situation was, they also were faced with a real problem. Both agreed it would take something hot to free her chilly cheeks from the grip of the icy metal!

Thinking about what had gotten her into the predicament in the first place,
both quickly realized that there was only one way to get her free.

So, as she looked the other way, her first-time date proceeded to unzip his pants and pee her butt off the fender. As the audience screamed in laughter, she took the Tonight Show prize hands down… or
perhaps that should be “pants down.” And you thought your first date was embarrassing.

Jay Leno’s comment .. “This gives a whole new meaning to being pissed off.

Gotta go with Jim on this one. Me and The Createss met by blind date (and she didn’t even have a dog or cane), we went out for about 6 months and WHAM! I woke up with a ring welded to my finger. Haven’t been happier since.

I could go into some really colorful “bad” dates, but I think I would breech the PG-13 threshold. :D

My parents met on a blind date also. 5th time they saw each other was the wedding day. Just celebrated 60 years last month.
