Congrats to Rob Derosier from Salem, Mass., the latest winner of the Defcon Deathmatch Torch and a friend of Chilehead Ed’s.
It was a lot of fun (what else is new?)
Hudd drove in from Indiana. I felt really bad when he came in second again. I dare say he’s gonna be at the Jungle Jim’s Deathmatch with a vengeance! The guy who beat him from Massachusettes was a machine. He happened to be in the area on business, and ChiliHeadEd told him about the event. I would LOVE to do one in Albuquerque, but I don’t even know where to begin asking.

I didn’t know I could be two places at once. Apparently, I have an East Coast counterpart!
Creator, I’d call the Tiki bar (Burts Tiki Bar?) in downtown ALBQ. They’re friendly to people from the show. Arizona Peppers has thrown a show party there in years past.

Congrats Rob! Hudd’s a tough cookie! He likes to make it a close one, that’s for sure!
So what was the winning time?
The winning time was just under 2:30 minutes.

That’s sounds like it would be fun. Perhaps next year.

Hey Sensai, you see that? I need to get with you to work on my time! ![]()
it was more like 3:15-3:20. It was a very exciting finish, Hudd at the lead at the start, lost it, then tied at the last 2 wings, but Rob got it by a beak. ![]()

I don’t have the results here, they’re at home, but I’m sure it was way under 3 minutes. He had time to take the gloves off, relax, and completely wipe his face off before time was called.
AGH! I NEED to go to one of these!

Well remember John, I finished in 3 minutes something and had time to lick my fingers clean, finish off my beer, AND trash talk the guy with the stopwatch! LOL!!
I’ll tell ya what, those final seconds felt like minutes. ![]()
“AND trash talk the guy with the stopwatch!”
Yeah, no kiddin’! ![]()

MAybe it’;s time to come out of retirement???? Nah.
I was hoping to make this event, but I had just gotten back from my cruise, and the baby was really sick. Next time…….. I love watching these things!

I’m thinking of March for the next one. February is already full.
Interested in a NFL Draft Party in Virginia right outside of restaurant row in late April? The draft is long and plenty enough time to eat wings and drink beer.

Is this at someone’s house, or in a restaurant?
Depending on the Toronto dates, I may go for back to back wins in consecutive days.

The Toronto dates are still tentative.
John its a restaurant on restaurant row in Crystal City, VA right outside of DC. Parking is an issue otherwise its a hot spot. My Viking fan club has a small draft party every year there.

Parking issues? So where do all of your buddies park? Oh wait, it’s a VIKINGS fan club, nevermind.

Hey John, don’t feel bad for me. I had a blast. Met some very nice folk, had a pile of free Defcon wings and practiced my Deathmatch technique. Can’t wait til Weekend of Fire 2. Hell I may even road trip again before then.

Hey thetruth brother, can you handle this one?
We have roughly 75-125 people at our club for every game, and that is in Virginia. We have to park wherever we can, in the neighborhoods nearby, a street or two away, a bank parking lot. We have a loyal following.

Buddah, with all due respect, I talked about it with the Creator and Hudd, and I was done at about 2:30. I had time to clean up totally, and drink the rest of my beer - also to watch a little of the Pats game!!!
I think I will have to work at it to be under 2 minutes, I caugth Hudd by surprise this time, but not NEXT>>>
There is something definately wrong with RobbieD. He put one million scoville unit hot sauce on his piece of cake!

I would definitely lookout for Hudd next time around. As they say, three times is a charm.
