Okay HSBers - to make both sides happy (those that don’t like the random chatter and those that do), here is a general thread where you can talk about whatever you wish. Those that don’t like the chatter can stick to the other posts - but please continue to comment and contribute to those topics as well.
Each month, I will close the comments on the previous months Off Topic Thread and start up a new one. It’s not the most elegant solution - but it works. I debated adding a chat section, but then comments are lost after a certain amount of time. This will keep the comments out there for everyone to read (or not read).

Whopps. Want to subscibe with Notify. LOOK mindeless post and no one can get mad!
Hmmmm. This showed up on the left under comments? Is it supposed to? I thought that we could post here and not clutter the comments on the left side:
NICK Is there away to have this thread be ignored when generating the query for the latest comments?
I was just thinking I was CRAZY. Thanks Nick - ti think this will make everyone happy.
NOW… Test to see if these posts count towards our totals……
Ahhhh They do. Nick - should these “chatter” posts actually count towards the “Top 20 Commenters”
Wow When I woke up this morning I saw like 10 new topics! Ha Quite awesome and now I have a place to say this and not get off topic. Lots of stuff to talk about today…very nice

Congrats and more importantly THANK YOU if that is a legit picture. In all honesty though, it looks photoshoped as can be. The proportions just look off….sorry. Our troops out there are to be completely admired….same with these pictures if true they are.

Either way is fine.
The only thing is, now you need to keep checking in here to see if anything is new.
Maybe have a recent Comments (left-side) of the last 3 left in off-topics. have 2 “recents comments” (sections) listed)
Sorry for any extra work ![]()
just a thought.
Is this the real “off topic post”?? Testing testing …123..bla bla bla…yap..yap..chatter chatter..
so how about the Dallas Cowboys signing T.O. ….

TRACY, HOW MUCH MEAT COULD THE LIONS EAT IF THE LIONS COULD EAT MEAT? HA HA ![]()
Oh this is wonderful. Nick, You’re a great man. I’ve noticed over the last couple weeks that there have been a lot of requests for Nick to make additions/changes to this blog, and he has done so diligently. I just hope that people don’t take advantage of his willingness to do so. Remember, Nick is a person too, and he has a business to run aside from this blog. The man does need some time to himself (hopefully he’s getting enough). Thank you Nick for all that have done and for the time and effort you’ve put into it.

I was thinking the same thing the other day. So far if he can do it, he has done what we asked. Pretty awesome! Thanks man!!
where is everyone today? it seems rather quiet here on the blog. Is it a nice day over there or sumthing? Is everyone avin a bbq?
Anyone selling a holiday reserve 2005 that anyone knows of? Eman? I saw you were sellin a B-99
Sorry to make feel like you’re alone Matt. I’m in the same boat you are with the 05 holiday. Got the B-99, but still need the holidy among others. Over here on the west coast of the US its pretty damn nice out. I’ve been busy getting some things done around the house while I still have a day off (hate doing housework during the week when I get off work). I’ll be checking in regularly so you don’t feel alone ![]()
Yeah it is a very nice day outside. I for one hope that I get an email from the Creator soon
Hey Matt to carry on our off topic conversation lol
That VW you have isnt even available here in the states. We have a very limited selection when it comes to diesel vehicles. It just hasnt caught on here for some reason. It is pretty hard to even find bio diesel too
it isn’t very big at all - only has 2 front and 2 back seats - not even a centre rear seat. It mite as well not have a boot (trunk if that’s what you call them) either
wish it was nice out here - it’s very dark and cold - was good earlier tho for a while. Had a hilarious friendly football game against a french society. lol. Couldn’t understand a word they said!!

Held my breath for the punchline, at first I was thinking it was gonna be a bad MJ joke!
ha There is room for a trunk? Sounds great if you want to go for a ride though. I wouldnt mind having one to drive.
stick ‘Seat Arosa’ into a google search - u’ll soon see what I mean about the size. I might as well use my boot just for transporting hot sauces - that’s about all that will fit - I can’t even get a 15″ tv in it to take it home from uni

Ouch now that would be hard!
Who else is waiting to see if they got in on the ZERO? lol I won’t count on it but it would be nice if I could get one
Hey Nick,
Great job on all the additions. I will parrot the sentiments about you being ontop of all the modifications to your blog. I’m very new here but it seems to morphing into a community. Keep up the great work. This place is pretty cool. I really like that I get a chance to discover more and different hot sauces. Being from Wisconsin, we don’t have many outlets to discover new products. Your reviews have helped me greatly. One sauce line in partiular that I reall want to try is Brians sauces. Loco Luna sounds like everything I like in my hot sauces and your writting skills and refined palatte convey the taste very well.

Ahh Sometime. I don’t reckon I am in that big of a hurry. I got it if i got it.
Now in the spirit of staying completely off topic. I just had some pretty dang hot jambalya for dinner tonight. I love this stuff cause lots of good sauces go with it to kick the heat level up!!
What did you guys have?
its only 4:15 here
haven’t eaten yet
lol I was just thinking that when I posted that question. I ended up eating a little early and I knew part of the crowd isn’t even close to dinner time
May the meal be nice and spicy though!

Thanks Aaron. If its not, I hae just the thing to fix that. I personally LOVE jambalya, but my wife isn’t too fond of it, so I have to rely on the local deli to provide me with such wonderful things ![]()

I had Jambalya as well, and put a good dose of #22/144 Hot Blog Sauce on it to perk it up a little. I have not found anything I don’t like the HBS on so far. Usually use it on Mexican stuff, but it worked well with the cajun.
And I just noticed, only 45 comments in the OT thread since 8:04 am?

Thai Style Spare Ribs
Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Jalapenos
Zucchini & Squash
Spicy Roasted Potatoes
Banana Splits for dessert (yet to be eaten)
Afterwards I think I’ll settle back on my sleepy southern front porch with a cup of coffee and a fine stick of Macanudo Vintage ‘97 Vintage #8.

Chris…What’s your normal smoke? I go for a variety of brands usually in a mild to medium. Occasionally I might venture out with something stronger like an H. Upmann. A lot depends on my mood. My favorite place to fire one up is sitting under a shade tree over looking the Mississippi Sound. There’s nothing like a good cigar while my hairless head is being caressed by a salty breeze. ![]()

You know MSK, of what you mentioned, I can only obtain the cigar. However, if I drive an hour and a half I too can at least have the salty breeze. Your method sounds better.
Not sure, I only occasionally have a cigar. and its usually a ACID Blondie by Drew Estates.
Never had an acid, although the description sounds interesting. I’ll have to check my local supplier for one. Then again I might have flashbacks to the seventies. Acid had a whole different meaning then… ![]()

They are a bit flavored, but you will be hooked.
Try the sampler tin for $49.95. You will get an assortment. If you are unsure, I have ordered from them (mine came the next day). Now I only live an hour from them, but my point is, its a good company.
If you have time, and didnt yet, read the comments people left about them. There is some interesting reading on that site.
I’m not finding a rating/strength for these. What’s your opinion?
They are a bit strong, but the aroma will win you over. I dont see it a as a cheaper flavored cigar. Its hard to explain. I bought one once, and I had to order more (blondies). The only thing is, if you have a humidor, and you keep acid cigars in there, the others may take on some of that aroma. That was a suggestion from my uncle.
Here MSK, it may help

Chris - I catered a cigar dinner a while ago and a rep from Drew Estates brought tons of these Acid cigars to give out. I’d never heard of them at the time so I turned down a lot of freebies! Now I wish I would’ve at least tried them. Goes to show you never turn down anything for free I guess. The boxes looked so wierd though, I thought they were a gimmick or something.

Yeah man, he was throwing them around like he was on a parade float or something!! Everybody had paid quite a bit to be there though, I think the admission paid for most of the cigars given out. The guy looked pretty crazy too, like a DJ at high school dance, only 65 years old. If that makes any sense… Anyway, he scared me.

Hmmmmm, it does say something about that
“Only a handful of Anglos have been permitted to enter the small, temple-like factory where ACID Cigars are created. Tremendous amounts of various herbs and essential oils line the blending room walls leading from the aroma room to the rolling area, which is uncharacteristically perched on a large outside deck. Using a blend of ultra-secret tobacco combined with Asian herbs and oils and the mastery of Cuban style cigar rolling, ACID has been created.”

That Limited Lady Liberty might just have to get bid on. I think Cajohn said only 100 were made. He was gonna make 2001 but ended up with just 100. That signed King Cobra is looking good also.

I think so Chris. I’ll try to find “one” at the local shops first. I just ordered 100 Cuban Mistakes from Thompsons down in Tampa. Problem is my humidor isn’t large enough to handle another bundle. If I can find one of the acids and like it, I’ll do a larger bundle as soon as some of these mistakes are gone.

Yeah man! I’m hyped to the max!
Provided you come through on a day when I can actually accompany you, I’ll take you to the greenhouse where you can see about 25,000 habanero plants all lined up neatly into rows
We can also cruise down to Nashville IN & check out a hip little hot sauce shop that carries a VERY decent collection of Johns & my stuff as well as many other folks.
Jim that sounds great!!!!!!!!!
Off Topic Does anyone post here anymore? I used to pop over here every now & then to see what was going on, but it’s been a day since there was a post. Not that I think we get off topic, but since it doesn’t go to the “Recent Comments” I would check it.
POST!
MSK - seems like it’s always just me and you here late at night! We should find some common interests so we have something to talk about! ![]()
Hmmmm….Let’s see….what could we talk about? I know! Let’s talk about…….oh nevermind…..that won’t work! You got anything?

I check it out frequently - not much going on here. Maybe it is because no one can easily see if there are any new posts.
Maybe Nick can have an “off topic” recent comment that displays the last off topic comment. Then we could see if someone posted easily.

I agree, maybe just list the top 3 recent ones

You call THAT a post???
No word on whether Nick can add another “comment” section for the off-topic. I think it would get used more. I have also subscribed to it so I get emails when there are posts.

Oh yeah - HI CAJOHN.
OH! John…Did you actually want someone to say something? ![]()
Hi Huvason, wondered if everyone was in mourning. I wish this would show up in comments so I knew to switch back here. Just have to develop new habits…email sounds like a good idea!

Just a slow night on the blog I guess. I’m cutting out soon- just looking for some bottles and labels before I crash. It’s a pain in the a$$ getting bottles unless you order by the skid! I think I found some labels, although that wasn’t easy either (it’s actually hard to find a 3×5 weatherproof label)
It April. Trying to get the last post of March!
Oops…Nick missed his cue! ![]()
Maybe you will, maybe I will…
No….I WILL! ![]()
Look like none of us did! ![]()

200 - Congratulations CaJohn!
Welcome to the “Red” MSK!!!

Awesome stuff Nick, thanks.
We love you man (not it that way, you know what I mean) ha ha
I think this will really help.
Everyone checking in and talking about whatever on here (”Off-Topic”), will allow comments to individual posts to stick (mainly) to that topic.
