Mother’s Day Brunch @ Rosa Mexicano

The wife and I enjoyed a Mother’s Day Brunch today at Rosa Mexicano (Lincoln Center). We’ve been to the Rosa several times all for dinner, never brunch so the oppurtunity for early afternoon mexican food was too good to pass up.

Rosa’s famed guacamole (yes, guac before noon) - I’ve been making guacamole almost weekly for the last month, so I found Rosas a little lack luster this time around - but it is still one of the best places to go when you want someone else to make your guacamole.

I can’t remember what exactly I ordered because it had quite the fancy name - but it was delicious. It had ham, tortilla chips & scrambled eggs - surrounded by a creamy poblano sauce. Quite tasty for breakfast.

The wife ordered Huevos Rancheros which were delicious as well (according to her) but a little too fancy. We’re both used to a more traditional take on Huevos Rancheros so this rendition was a little over the top. The asparagus tips really didn’t blend with the roasted tomato-habanero sauce.

Overall brunch at Rosa was excellent - but missing one key element: Pomegranate Margaritas. Those are what make dinner at Rosa Mexicano so much fun.

Happy Mother’s Day!

We have one here in DC. Always do a great job with the food, service can be inconsistant. I do like the table side guac presentation.

There’s plenty (2) mexicans very close by tho and theyre very nice (and cheap) - pepe el paso and daiquiris (or how ever you spell it)

Ah… that’s where you are!

I lived there for a short while about 10 years ago, but am on the other side of the country now…

We’ve got two mexican restaurants here, but sadly they’re not great… and tamed to the local palette… I’m yet to be convinced that they even have fresh chillis in the kitchens, cos I’m yet to find any in the food…

I hate to admit it but i think i would have enjoyed the asparagus on my huevos. Its such a superlative little veggie, I think it adds to whatever dish its accompanied to.
