I can’t wait. I keep asking the wife to make sure we have no twirling\parties. at this point it doesn’t matter. I’ve given her enough chances. I’m there and ready to party.

It would be no problem if I didn’t have 8 cylinders in my Jeep. Tends to cut down on the long distance travelling. Now if I ever get that VW TDI I want then 45 mpg would get me there no problem :)

I will be needing me some DC 2 and 1 soon but I am gonna wait and see if I got in on the ZERO first! ha I do want to see alot of pictures from the Defcon day. That way I can have my own little wing day here and invite the Coors Light girls to come lol!!

8 cylinder!!! my little vw diesel TDI only has 3…..it is good on the mpg though ~60 if not more. I presume fuel is quite cheap across the pond then?

Comment #9:
Comment by Aaron (1014) - 3/19/2006 @ 3:31 pm | [ Quote ]

Well I don’t call it cheap. It is currently $2.39. Now what that converts into pounds I have not a clue :) I get 15 mpg on average lol

I thought the TDI’s were 4 cylinders? I think the Jetta TDI’s are but with 60 mpg I doubt it is a Jetta. Either way there are far more diesel options there in Europe cause Americans haven’t caught on to the craze of fuel economy yet :( Anyway I am getting offtopic and we now have a place for that. I just didn’t want to ignore Matt

Now back to Defcon Days!!!

CORRECTION!!!
I just reread the directiond from the train station and they are incorrect. When you get off the train, head towards Springfield Avenue. At Sprinfield Avenue, make a RIGHT not a left, and The Alley is a few blocks down on your right, near Kings Supermarket. I woould hate to see a bunch of lost chiliheads meandering aimlessly throughout the streets, and when asked by a cop what they are doing, replying, “Looking for The Creator”. I would hate to get calls from the local psych ward. LOL!

Glad you like that little addition. I’ve been told by a number of well placed folks that Lava is THE best sauce for making Bloody Mary’s because of the fresh herbs, heat and Whorstishire. Try that too!

PATH to Hoboken, take the Morris/Essex “local” train to the Berkeley Heights station (you may have to switch trains in Summit, ask the conductor). From there, you’ll see the Police Station on one side of the tracks, HEAD AWAY FROM THE POLICE STATION! :)
You’ll go about 150 yards and come to Springfield Avenue, make a right, it’s about 2-3 blocks down on your right, to the left of the Kings Supermarket.

Or take the Huvason Express. Not sure how many people are going with me - I’ll find out - but I can shoot through Manhattan (that’s the way google maps sends me anyway).

I’ll reach out to those who said they are going, if I have room you are more than welcome (you’ll have to listen to my wife complaining the whole way though :) )

Well, it seems we are going to have a number of people from this site showing up on Saturday. With that in mind, I figured I’d spice it up a bit. Normally, the Day progresses with mass ingestion of wings, and the inevitable downing of large amounts or various grog, not to mention hanging out and just plain enjoying yourself. Well, perhaps this time a contest is in order. I was trying to decide either a habanero eating contest or a DEFCON #1 wing eating contest. I think I’m going to go with the wing eating contest. The specifics will be announced at the event. I was kind of afraid of projectile vomiting from the habanero chomping contest, so I’m sticking to the wings, something I’m quite adept at. Now…..To come up with a prize……….

Not to bring this up, but we never had a winner from the other contest yet, where did that prize go? :-)

“The Game shall commence as follows: I shall, upon Nick’s initial request, choose the #1 caption, as I will hold true the request. This choosing, of my choice, shall receive a special treat. Patience, Grasshopper, patience. Nick is fully aware of what is going on with this. There is indeed a prize, and a very nice one at that. It just hasn’t finished accumulating yet (you think I’m kidding). I am waiting on the final ingredient for the prize, which will be offered shortly. Trust me, whoever wins is going to laugh their ass off, not to mention having a 1/1 in a manner of speaking. Rest assured, The Creator hasn’t forgotten who said what. (evil chuckle)

This thing in here about “Nick’s initial request” is totally wrong. Somebody needs to go back and read some stuff. I for recall “Nick’s initial request” quite clearly and it stated that “Creator” will choose the TOP 5 (not the #1) captions, and the HSB would vote on which is #1. Now if I’m wrong, please feel free to provide proof. In the mean time, here’s mine.

Here’s how this works: Take a look at the slighty disturbing photo above and come up with a caption. Leave your caption as a comment. The top 5 will be picked out by the Creator (he doesn’t know this yet) & those 5 will be voted on by the HSB readers.

Thanks for tuning in :-)

Mr Defcon, I am envious that many of my fellow bloggers will be able to enjoy your Fais Do Do this weekend while I am unable to attend. It further saddned me to hear you will not be with us in Ft Worth. Rest assured I will be with you in spirit as I judge chili & salsa at the ICS affair this Saturday & Sunday here where they run ponys in Central Ohio. Pass a good time for CaJohn!!! I know we’ll pass a good time for you in the Stockyards!!! Laissez les Bon Temps Rouler

Thanks CaJohn, myself and the bloggers will definitely have a few toasts on your behalf. I appreciate the kind words regarding Zestfest, but, as I stated, I had already given my word to the Fire Guys in Hillsborough that I would attend, as we are a big draw for them, and all the money goes to a great cause, there is no way in Hell I’m pulling a no-show with those guys…Nothing like firing up a couple turkey fryers and cookin’ wings all day, watching the masses sweat, tear, and come back for more. Isn’t that what this industry is all about anyway, having a great time with great people, making a couple bucks, and sharing the wealth with good causes? As I told a bunch of people at the Fiery Foods show, once it stops being fun, we’ll just close the doors, look back, and remember what a great ride it was. Fear not, we aren’t going anywhere, as I’m having WAY too much fun, not to mention scaring The Createss, which of course is a good thing.

Have a great time tomorrow Defcon! Got your message, but I’m at the firehouse & can’t call long distance from here very easy. Hope you have a blast! Looking forward to making one of them sometime :-)

I’ll have a beer for you Jim! My designated driver (WIFE) just bailed on me (I knew she would). My buddy and brother are going - we will be leaving a little earlier so we should be ther by 1pm.

Ok Im sure Nick will post the details but they went 4 rounds at 13 wings per round… Nick ate EVERY ONE of them… 52 wings mixed with some type of Zero mixture.. i tasted one wing and my lips were numb for about a half hour.. Huvason was close behind but Nick was just way to fast.. After Nick recooperates , Im sure he will put something on here :)
