Not a Tamale

This is not a tamale. I don’t care what the menu said, this is not a tamale. It looks more like cat food. And believe me, it sure didn’t taste like chicken.
Lesson #1: When a restaurant specializes in Empanadas to the point where it’s in the name, don’t try anything else on the menu. Stick with the empanadas.

Lesson #2: Don’t eat it. It’s not worth wasting the perfectly good hot sauce on.

Needless to say, I cannot recommend anything from Empanada Mama except the empanada’s (which are still excellent).

That really doesn’t look the best. The only place I would put that is in the bin. Looks more like fish than chicken (and I hate fish!)

I think we’re overdue for someone to post a visual recipe for genuine tamales… any takers?

Don’t throw it away- I have a FAT cat sitting here licking her chops at the picture, and she doesn’t care if it’s chicken or fish.

But I would have to agree that it does not look very good from the picture- Nick did you finish it, No dessert if you don’t eat all of your dinner.

Looks pretty rough Nick! Especially compared to those awesome empanadas you showed us before. That tamale looks like it comes pre-packaged in it’s own little garbage bag! That’s another bad sign.

That looks NASTY! Is that wrapped in a banana leaf or a Hefty Bag??

Nick, I really agree with your point about not ordering tamales at a place named for empanadas. I’m always telling people not to get the Oysters Rockafeller at Angelo’s Coney Island! :D

It looks like something from a morgue that was thawed out in the microwave. Nick, you might consider getting your stomach pumped :-P

I think that stuff looks great, I love empanadas. But I agree not to order a tamale at an empanada place.
