Alright folks, here they are - the top entries 15 entries recieved for the Pimp Your Sauce Contest. The entries are displayed in alphabetical order based on the name of the person who sent it in. Names are not listed so as not to influence voting.
Remeber: You can only vote once so choose wisely.
The top ten entries will receive a signed & numbered (1-10) bottle of Blair’s Original Death, circa 94-95. Not only that, but the order the top 10 entries fall in will determine the bottle number they recieve. Meaning, the runner up will receive #2, 3rd place will get #3 and so on and so forth. And, the Grand Prize Winner will receive a 16 Million Reserve, direct from Blair. Voting will end Friday (4/28) at midnight. In the event of a tie, the final decision will be made by a handful of judges.
A big thank you to all that entered. I received over 40 entries (some people entered 3-4 times) and I’m going to work on getting all the honorable mentions up sometime this week.

Fantastic! I shall vote when I get home so I can take more time to look at them. Off to work!
Outrageous!! I knew there would be some cool stuff entered, but I think they surpassed what I had imagined. Good luck to all 15 enteries and hats off to your creativity and imaginations.

That’s ashame, just a little over an hour into it and we are already tainted. Nick does “scrub the results” mean a “DO OVER” or do you pull the entry of the double votes.

Are you just checking IP addresses? I mean, what if a family member votes from the same PC that I do? Just curious, but this could get complicated depending on how you’re checking the results.
Umm maybe 1 vote per PC. Good thing I have 3. J/K!!!
Too bad #6 doesn’t have the Crapalacky label!
These are cool!! Where do people find some of this stuff?!? Good luck to everyone!!

So far I’m just deleting the double votes - if it keeps happening then the entries will be pulled all together.
good!
These entries are all great! Eventhough i am VERY bias to the Hot Sauce Band. Good Luck to All!

Yeah there are going to be 15 biased
(or possibly less). I’m biased towards the guinea pig - it took so long to get her to stay still. You can see her tongue out because I’d been giving her lettuce to keep still while I took the photo
p.s. she wasn’t bothered by the stuff on her - she just wanted the food!! ![]()
Great Job Everybcody! I can’t wait to see some more entries. This was really fun to do, and the best part is, it gave me some sweet new bottles to add to my shelf!
hah i thought it was a rabbit LOL
HAHA i wasnt sure what it was either. Looked to me an oversized rat
these should all be the first inductees to the Hot Sauce Hall of Fame

No…..rest assured its a guinea pig - a huge 1 though. It’s twice the size of the other 1 we have at home. It will eath anthing and do anything to get food
The holder that is on it’s back (holding the ZERO) glows in the dark and has red devil horns on it. lol
great job everyone this is going to be a tough competition!!
I think that Cajohns should be given a copy of that bottle of frostbite it would make a nice ad
Some of these are much more elaborate than I expected. It is as if the sauces have come alive. Very nice work.. very creative!
from Blair’s site:
A New Reserve Will Be Available for order in June. This New Reserve will be the Last FOREVER in this Classic Reserve Bottle..Aside From the 2AM and 3AM… Only 300 (Blank Blank) will be produced.
im happy about the reserve having 300 bottles, better chance ill get one!
I think the nice thing here is that there are only 15 entries. That means that most of these guys are getting a bottle. Its a shame they can not all get one. But everyone has a good chance. I will be willing to bet it comes down to only a vote or two getting towards the 9-11th place. Maybe even a recount for the final place. I can’t wait to see the results ![]()

that’s true. I really like the thought of 99 bottle reserves but I’d prefer the higher bottles so more people can get them
HAH Fantastic!!
What happens if there’s a tie for tenth place?
is it just me? or does anyone else find themselves hitting the refresh button every 5 minutes to see the scores

5 minutes - thats a while ![]()
this is going to be a long week for the people who have entries as close as the voting is they aren’t going to be able to get any work done with all the page refreshing they’ll be doing

I have not voted yet, just for reasons like this.
Everyone: The voting is IP based as you may have noticed, but cookies are also at work. If you have been cookied on 2 computers and vote from them both, then one of those votes is going to be removed - I understand that you may have your wife or friend voting too, but in order to be fair, this is the way it has to be.
If you have workmates or friends trying to vote from the same IP, they won’t be able to - so ask them to vote from home.
good thinking Nick, it keeps it legit ![]()

I wish I could have gotten mine to show up that well in the dark. Mine actually has a flashing L.E.D. trio inside the bottle that flashes when the bottle is shaken, I just couldn’t get the pics to come out well enough to show it.
Great job everyone, I know a lot of work went into all of these and I like all of them, especially #3! ![]()

I’ll bear that in mind. She’ll probably try and eat me tho without feeding her tho - she eats and knaws the chair legs when she’s hungry. I’ve never known anything like it

Sorry, this isnt the right spot for this post but I have my NUMBERED 3am #3931 and a 4am #642 on ebay. There NOT in perfect condition but are not that bad. I have e-mailed Nick so he can put this in the collectors corner post section.

No, sadly not… been away on holiday recently and work has been a pain in the neck since I got back, so only got about half way through pimping my bottle of Eve
Not that I would have stood a chance with the quality of the finalists anyway, but its always fun to take part.
Once again, good luck to the finalists - its a nice prize 10 of you are gonna win!
Danny Cash & Pepperman vote for #2. The pimp and ho theme is dear to our hearts.
There’s now over twice as many votes as there have been for the caption this contest. Kinda makes ya wonder how many people are getting their friends, family, co-workers, you name it, to vote for them.

Well, I have to co-workers that wanted to vote because they helped a little in the supply dept. when I was putting mine together. They don’t post here, but visit on occasion. One of them is starting to collect a little.
I don’t see any harm in it from people that are close or related. Look at it this way, getting someone to visit to vote on this thing will just expose that many more people to the blog. Who knows how many closet chiliheads could be snagged with this contest.

I’m in the same boat. I’m not soliciting random votes, but only votes from close friends, family, and the people who helped me out when I started putting my ideas together. It doesn’t seem to be working though
But I have to ask, that’s not against the rules is it? Like DK says, the more people who vote, the more exposure the blog gets.

That’s still not right. What it then comes down to is a popularity contest and/or who has a bigger family. Granted this may be getting more exposure for the blog, but if they’re not participating in the day to day threads, I honestly don’t believe they should be able to vote. This is looking very similar to the 2004 presidential race and we all know that was a bunch of crap. What I’m getting at is he who has the most friends and family members (even co-workers) willing to take a few seconds to vote is the winner. There needs to be a something done about this.

I’m not sure there’s an easy solution. I mean, I read this blog religiously, but I rarely post comments (until now :-)) Should it only be people who regularly comment, or also include those who just read? And how can you tell?
Not that I disagree with you entirely, because I don’t. But I don’t see a way that this could possibly be kept truly fair, and I think Nick is doing the best he can already.
I know some of you guys are fanatical about collecting (and that’s cool) but contests like this are for fun, right?

Yes, they are fun, but look at any other contest out there where there is a prize that is wanted badly by the participants. Some will do anything to win the prize, even cheat, which according to Nick is happening. Someone is going to get severely screwed over here simply becaue people are willing to break the rules. Yes, I would like one of the bottles, who wouldn’t? But I’m not calling my family, friends and co-workers to ask them to vote for me in an effort to cheat and secure a bottle. I say the voting should start over and the votes be scrutinized even more so than they have been. I’ll be e-mailing Nick.

Contest are fun and some people are fanatical about collecting. Not sure if I agree with he who has the most friends wins. If that is the case everyone that submitted a entry should in the running not just the top fifteen. Nick is doing a great job and it is great to get more people exposed to the site and you can’t make everyone happy. Just hope that the people that win feel they won it fair.

Ryan, I think what Nick was doing this morning was trying to nip it in the bud before anything got out of hand. I think he saw where my two co-workers voted from the same network and assummed it was me posting duplicate votes. I have emailed him already, it’s all good. I sure hope noone here is purposely inflating the counts. I can understand how my issue this morning could have been viewed as such, but I don’t think even those two votes (which will be recast tonight anyway from their home) would help me anyway. Nick is doing all he can to track this stuff, believe me. I have seen the vote counts go up and come back down on several of the entries, so if there is anyone up to no good, Nick will take care of it.
Oh, I forgot, vote for #3. Am I allowed a shameless plug or two? ![]()

I don’t have a horse in this race, but I’m not sure I would say anyone is actually cheating. The only rule I’ve heard regarding voting is “one vote per IP address”. Simply because Nick is removing multiple votes from the same IP does not necessarily imply cheating as you can have multiple family members (say mr. & mrs. eman, both voting from home, both active participants) or people at the same large office.
The point of all this was to have fun, not to create an accounting/security nightmare for Nick. If you want to tighten this up, let Nick decide alone, or create a panel to vote or leave it to the top ten or twenty posters, or maybe hire Price Waterhouse like the Oscars, but do it NEXT TIME.
Let’s all enjoy each others creativity and the entertainment it brings. Among other things, I hope that this blog is designed to add new members to the chile head community and is not designed to exclude participation and increased awareness. The prizes may not be so generous next time without a proper attitude.
Just my $0.02. Good luck to all who entered.

if multiple computers are in fact on the same network, they wouldn’t be able to vote. Networks have an IP address and unless you tell it to change the IP address. My home and office are both on networks. I let my wife vote at home (ya’ll know her as Mrs. Ryan) because she has nowhere else to vote from, and I vote at the office. Due to that, I can’t vote from home, and nobody in the office can vote if I’ve already done it (checked to make sure).
So, I guess Nick should have limited the entries to only those with such-and-such a number of posts? It sounds like you are saying why should someone that doesn’t spend every waking moment reading and posting on here have a chance to win, or even to vote? That would be fair, huh? If you aren’t on the top twenty, don’t bother?
I know you weren’t talking about entries, but your argument could be carried out that far, using your logic.

Thanks for your two cents Newman. No, this isn’t the “Ryan Blog”. Before you get your panties into more of a wad than they already are because you’re not looking at the BIG picture, I am not the only one affected by this. The whole thing is. I don’t believe anyone likes to lose to a cheater, not to mention possible multiple cheaters. If an entry did not make it into the top 15, it wasn’t due to any campaigning that anyone did, unlike what is going on here. I’m not complaining that mine hasn’t received as many votes as others, I don’t mind losing in a FAIR competition. I’m complaining that the playing field is not even and it should be. If any of you take pleasure in losing, what is supposed to be an honest contest, to people that cheat, then by all means let the world know. You don’t see cheaters winning the olympics, they get stripped of their medals. I am only following the standards that have been placed on the vast majority of other contests and competitions. **insert unfriendly hand gesture**
as soon as you show me in the rules where only certian people can vote I’ll agree…until then Better Luck Next Time.

As it has stated in past contests, inflation of votes will be removed, and possible disqualification. We’ve already got a couple people that have admitted to getting co-workers to vote, family and friends to join in as well. Like I said earlier, I’ll talk it over with Nick. Well, that’s what I thought, but both workstations here at the shop allowed the votes. We have one in the office and one in the repair bay. I had voted at home before coming in to work. I told the guys that the voting had started and they immediatly went online to vote themselves. One of the votes was pulled because the IP addys and the cookies matched according to Nick, but bottom line is that both machines are on the same network and were allowed to vote. So it is possible, don’t know the technical reason for it, but it happened. And yes, since I found out that only one vote was pulled, only one of the guys will vote from home. It never occured to me, but only one of them has internet access at home anyway.

So it is possible, don’t know the technical reason for it, but it happened. And yes, since I found out that only one vote was pulled, only one of the guys will vote from home. It never occured to me, but only one of them has internet access at home anyway.
Do you have a central hub that everything goes through?

I have not voted yet, just for reasons like this.
Everyone: The voting is IP based as you may have noticed, but cookies are also at work. If you have been cookied on 2 computers and vote from them both, then one of those votes is going to be removed - I understand that you may have your wife or friend voting too, but in order to be fair, this is the way it has to be.
If you have workmates or friends trying to vote from the same IP, they won’t be able to - so ask them to vote from home.
Hey Nick, there’s not going to be a tie..so go ahead and cast your vote for #13!!!!

So, according to this, having workmates or friends vote for your entry isn’t wrong. Is that correct?
So who gets to vote on who is on the panel of voters?:)
This is being taken waaaaay too seriously. Relax. Take a deep breath. Enjoy the entries.

I honestly see any reason why it shouldn’t be fine. Look at the total vote numbers. This hasn’t gotten totally out of hand with mass hysteria or anything.

Ok, not to get technical here. It is possible to be on the same “network” and have a different IP address out to the internet. It depends how they set it up. You could sit right next to someone who uses a different addy and a person 3 floors up can have the same. It all depends on the gateway you go through to connect to the internet.
It is also possible to have a different address through your home PC. This depends on if your ISP assigns you a static IP or not. Most dial-up is giving when you log in and therefore you dont always have the same one. Of course, most people have broadband and these are almost always static so they keep the same IP.
If you are curious and want to check, just go here and you will see what your IP address is:

check at different times and you will see

I agree. Everyone did an awesome job! I wish I had the time and camera to have done mine. I have an idea cooking if another contest comes up again!
My 2 cents,
This is becomming WAY to much to manage and Nick is a busy guy.
This contest was intended to be for fun.
Blair upped the ante and now it’s suddenly more than that. Unfortunately we have some rules and now it seems they may not be not enough.
Nick did not intend for this to create such a stir and this whole thing may put a damper on this sort of thing in the future. Thats a shame cause it could happen. Sure this is bringing in new people to HSB even if just to vote. We are not setting a very good example for all those “new here” to see. Lets “hold back” and try take this in stride.
Voting is open to all, and its limited per IP address. Sure people are getting more votes based on who they know, and right or wrong this will ultimately end up being a popularity contest, since the most votes win. Some are P’d off and I can see that and understand, but I just ask you remember what its all about. You entered the contest for one reason, and thats cause you cared and “felt the chilehead spirit”. Dont let a contest take that away and turn you into something your not. The way I see it, everyone here on HSB wins on a daily basis cause there is so much more you get here and even a bottle of the best hot sauce (for a prize) cant compete with that.
No, Im not trying to come accross as “the good guy” here, (I have been in enough conspiracies already) ![]()

Yep, I didn’t think about the static and dynamic IP thing. I thing the DSL at work is dynamic, meaning it can change. Not sure what the criteria is for it to change, but that may be why the two workstations were able to vote. I wasn’t trying to circumvent anything, but it seemed to raise some eyebrows even if by accident.
chrisk, well said. I spent a whole two weeks working on that blasted thing and still didn’t get it completely like I wanted it, but I had fun. I’m having fun watching my entry get its butt kicked as well!
I can’t complain, I won a free bottle from Nick when he announced the new sauces from the Fiery Foods show. I also won the “special” Batch 2 Zero (That one’s my pride and joy now, can’t even bring myself to throw out the cat hair!). I love just taking part in these things. I have never won a single thing before in my whole life until this. Now let’s just all have some fun with this thing!

If people want to have their friends and family vote, then OK, its legit.
But to be 100% truthful, just give them the link and let them pick which one they like and dont tell them which one is yours.
Let the winner truly be the “best” one.

Have I asked a few friends to vote - ABSOLUTELY. I have Friends that read the blog a couple times a week, never post but will vote. Am I calling everyone I know, no way.
As far as cheating - there are a few ways to do it. I could get my self tons of votes, but I’d just get disqualified. A better plan would be for me to sabotage someone else by voting for them a thousand times….. Mmmmmmmmm

Man, it seems almost every contest gets people riled up. Hell, I got majorly slammed for the Caption #1 contest, and I even donated the prize! Now individuals are worried how many people have computer-owning friends, and whether they have static IP addresses or not. It seems people are taking WAY too many ’serious pills’. Relax already!
I think people are also forgetting Nick isn’t doing these contests for his health, he’s doing it for fun. I don’t envy the inundation of e-mails he’s probably receiving, not to mention the “displeasure and bickering” e-mails he is now having to put up with. Did anyone ever think that he might just knock off contests altogether so as not to upset anyone in the future? Give Nick a break, he doesn’t own NORAD, so he is filtering duplicate votes as best he can. A few had mentioned picking a panel of people to vote…Well, with the current trend, could you imagine if someone who thought they’d be picked wasn’t?

Great job on this and i am sure that when you do this again the bar has been raised so high that those entries will crush all of these!!

I mean c’mon, really look at #2 and the thought that went into it!
It IS an Adam and eve set of bottles from CaJohn’s, BUT, I say BUT…
If you look a little closer…The Adam bottle is the Chocolate Habanero mash version, giving it a dark skinned color. Of cours it looks like it came right out of the 70’s with the clothing
It could be the guy from starsky and Hutch LOL I forget that characters name :), and Eve’s the hookerthat in itself is a little blasphemous but it is soo damn funny.

upon taking a closer at entry#2 it appears that the pimp is packing and I don’t mean a gun I don’t remember that on any previous bottles I’ve seen of Adam

Nick: Sorry about the email thing. I didn’t know that was a NO NO…
its near obscene but it hasn’t crossed the line just yet it just goes to show how much attention to detail was used in the creation of the pimp and ho
It looks like this competition is going to come right down to the wire no on entry is pulling away from the pack and the lead has changed many times
Also Nick doing a great job keeping this as fair as you can
Dis here is the Bishop Don Magic Hab (aka entry #2) sayin’ thanks to all you playa’s out there keeping it real with your most righteous votes. And remember, when dis here contest is over, I ain’t fo sale.

“Nick isn’t doing these contests for his health, he’s doing it for fun”
So true “This contest was intended to be for fun.”
“Did anyone ever think that he might just knock off contests altogether so as not to upset anyone in the future?”
Yep, “Nick did not intend for this to create such a stir and this whole thing may put a damper on this sort of thing in the future.”

My 2 cents,
This is becomming WAY to much to manage and Nick is a busy guy.
No, Im not trying to come accross as “the good guy” here, (I have been in enough conspiracies already)
Im just speaking up cause its just not the way this should end up and certainly not the way we want to “display” the HSB. It just feels wrong.
Does this mean I agree with you on this Creator???
;-)

MSK is now in the house of Campbell. That makes 2 of the Campbell Clan he has spent time with over the last few days. Tracy, it was definitely a pleasure to spend time with you. I hope you enjoyed the event and the visit as much as Sue & I did! We had a wonderful shrimp buffett with fresh Gulf shrimp provided by MSK and washed them down with some great Micro-Brews provided by Tracy. The storytelling went on into the wee hours fueled by our shared passion for chiles (oh yea, the beer helped). We spotted 3 bears on Thursday’s trek back to the cabin. MSK was intent on getting a signature on the Black Bear hot sauce he had picked up at the Pepper Palace. To the best of my knowledge, he was unsuccessful. I’m sure there will be more tales to come, but Tracy has been tight-fingered (lipped) as far as I can tell.

There was a plan if we did, We saw a bear expert on TV after the tragic events over in the Nashville area. He told us we should make ourselves as big as possible by raising our arms over our heads and make noise, and if attacked, beat the bear on the nose and head. MSK said he would raise his arms and yell, and Tracy could attack the bear. WW and I just figured we’ld run away while they tried that approach…

we have a way of getting totally off topic…..until papa Nick shakes his finger at us
it makes things more interesting
I agree but it would be alot better if I would get with the times and get something faster than dial up at home
I don’t think Nick really cares that much as long as we don’t get to out of line and we’re having fun
well, at least your in this century, you do have internet…although DSL is cheaper than dial up sometimes

yeah but not when your trying to load this page with those 15 big pics up at the top
yeah that would definitely suck, you do need something a little faster for loading pics. but just using it for email it would be ok
chilewilly on 4/25/2006 at 11:47 pm said:

That, could be a promlem. Dial-up works if you’re not online much and when you are, you’re just there to check your e-mail. Anything more than that you need to upgrade. DSL is pretty cheap these days. Cabel isn’t too much more, but you don’t need cabel unless you’re a gamer, or hardcore ebay sniper ![]()

Yeah, that will be interesting. Everyone keeps saying that this contest is for fun, which it is fun making these, but when you offer up a prize, it becomes a competition. People may not say it on here (unlike me, I’ll say anything), but there are going to be some hard feelings after this one. I think events like this should be handles like a beauty pagent, or a custom auto show…fair cookoff or something like that. Panel of judges not participating in the event to hopefully eliminate favoritism and popularity contests. Some people have a definate unfair advantage in this type of poling. Whoever ends up in 11th place may lose by one vote and it may be because they don’t know as many people, or have the opportunity to reach as many people and ask them to vote as the 10th place person. To offer up something that EVERYbody on here wants and allow unfair advantages, well, you can guess how I feel about it. Its the equivilant of an Olympian shooting up steroids, but rather than inflate their muscles, they’re inflating their votes. I don’t like having to play by these rules, but I have to or I don’t get a shot at one of these bottles. Personally, I think Blair did it right when he had the cutting room floor contest.

I can see your point - to, well a point
I didn’t even think I’d make the top 15, but now that I did, I find myself checking constantly. It is definitely going to be a bummer for those that come in 11-15. I’m not sure that I agree with the panel of judges though (not totally anyway). This blog is about the us chiliheads sharing our passion, and I think it’s great that we get to vote. I think that the contest is run too long - perhaps giving contests time to generate votes.
Maybe we should have the Bloggers votes count for 50% of the score, and the panel score the remaining 50% - and that gets the winners.
I know come Friday night at 11PM, if I’m in 11th place by 1 vote I’ll be calling my uncle bob from Vegas to cast a vote for me!
Well that my 0.02. If it doesn’t make sense, sorry. I’m blogging before my first cup of coffee

Oh yeah (one more time

After this, and all the other crying you’ve been doing, my new mission in life is to see that you don’t get a bottle….you’re kinda ruining this for me with your grade school whining. And you should apologize to Nick for causing him headach over something that was ment to be fun.
And who is going to be chosen for the panel? It seems whoever gets on will be construed as having more friends to vote for them, or with the current trend, more friends with dynamic IP addresses, LOL! I’ll be quick to add that the more negative feedback from all these contests, the better of a chance there won’t be anymore, so no one will have to worry about getting any prizes. And just think, that way no one’s widdle feelings will be hurt either, and all you’ll have to do is pay hundreds if not thousands for them on E-bay. Oh wait, it wouldn’t be fair on E-bay if someone won an auction because it’s not fair they had more money to spend on it.
A competition is a competition, ’nuff said. Hell, look at baseball for instance. Is it fair the Kansas City Royals use minor league pitching because they have no money, and for the Yankees to have a payroll that rivals the GNP of most third world nations? No, but that’s just the way it is. I understand everyone wants to win, but everyone can’t. Perhaps these words are a bit harsh, but being on the receiving end of the nonsensicle bickering from a previous contest it seems the whole “fun” thing is becoming lost in the “Maelstrom of Envy” because someone has more votes.

Now that was funny, I had to see who wrote it to realise it was a joke!
I can be on this panel if anyone cares
I am impartial and know what I like.
Bribes welcome. Bidding starts at 1 signed bottle of any older labelled product. ![]()
Not to be mean but in a contest someone has to win and someone has to lose you only hope to lose in a fair contest and I’m sure Nick is doing all he can to keep it as fair as he possibly can and as someone here stated earlier if we all don’t start playing nice together then Nick is going to take these kind of contests away and we’ll never have the chance to win anything like this again aside from winning it on ebay
I think some of these things are amazing, I wish I knew where the creative part of the brain lies, I would go and try to dig it out ![]()
Just to have the fun in the creation of the product.
TBH who really cares about the prize. I just wanna see more of these things. Hey Nick if you have more of them will you post them once this contest is over so we can see everything that was sent in (unless this is all of them).

Wouldn’t THAT be something! Hey Nick, sign me up as Uber-Overseer, Decider of Entrants’ Fates. I know some people don’t like what I have to say, and trust me, I’m not losing any sleep over it. I did my part in a previous contest and caught nothing but infantile BS over it, so be it. I just don’t like having to see the new people to this blog have to suffer through posts from people constantly complaining about rules during ANY contest that is started. I’d imagine a few don’t even enter the contest for fear of being labeled an evil-doer because they have a bunch of friends, a big family (like it’s something bad), oh yeah, and a dynamic IP address. ![]()

What are you talking about? I was referring to a previous post made from The Huvason from inside the walls of Casa Huvason Stronghold, where the first dig was made, here:
“Good point. I guess there would be complaining on the panel members as well. Maybe you should be the only one on the panel - no one likes you anyway (sorry…. Love you man!)”
Perhaps this helps. Due to my lack of multiple personalities, I am unable to touche myself. Man, that just doesn’t sound right.

No crying from me no matter how it turns out! This contest has been a blast & has undoubtedly turned a lot of new folks onto the blog.
Night all!
You know, I think for the next contest, it might work to make each person that votes have to vote for three entries (depending on the size of the field). That way, even if someone has a lot of people voting for their entry, they would still have to look at the remaining entries and make a decision for the other two votes. You know, I think for the next contest, it might work to make each person that votes have to vote for three entries (depending on the size of the field). That way, even if someone has a lot of people voting for their entry, they would still have to look at the remaining entries and make a decision for the other two votes. Just something that popped into my head last night. Any thoughts or opinions from the group?
I think that’s a great idea! I have to say that is the best solution yet. Nick, hope you caught Capcicum’s coment there. I don’t see why that wouldn’t work for everybody. Nice going Jeff ![]()

Night all!
Indeed, no crying here either! I called some friends and family and told them to check it out - whatever they did beyond that I have no idea! All I know is that I wouldn’t be suprised if some chicainery was involved ![]()
Everybody did great and I really can’t wait to see some more entries. It would be sweet to get all these sauces together in a museum or something!
when are we going to see the rest of the entries?

LOL - I said I wouldn’t do that and ended up emailing and calling everyone (and I mean everyone I know). It seems to be what most are doing. Hopefully a few more votes will trickle in today….. If not, oh well. It has been fun.
again, good job and good luck to all.

Trying to figure out how the worst two entries are at the top in votes. Fascinating, really. Kinda makes me glad I don’t have a dog in this fight.
You know, with all the bull going on, I decided not to vote for the entries that stand in the 8-12 place and help out one that I like only between that bunch. I’m just going to vote for the one I think is the best, and hope after the “scrubbing” the real winners prevails.
I entered this contest in good fun and for the love of the serum they call hot sauce. I would love to add this bottle to my collection. I think the voting did get out of hand but what do you expect, what die hard chili head wouldnt want to win? I just hope there are no arguements, bad feelings, etc about the results. Good luck in the final hours everyone, and more importantly good luck Nick in going through all the votes.

Any comments on why you feel the need to leave negative comments about anybody’s entries? What’s worse is that one of you has to hide and use an alias to be negative. I may be a prick, but you don’t see me ragging on anybodies entry.

no, you just rag on the process, the freebies, those giving the freebies, the 2004 election (c’mon - get over it), I could go on and on. At least the self assessment is on target.
But point taken. all positive from now on. can you do the same?

Though people may not believe this, I had the best interest of all involved in my rantings, but sometimes, even with the best of intentions, you get percieved differently. I know what I’ve done in the past, especially in regards to Creator, and I have stopped making personal attacks unless first provoked. I came to terms with how things are being done, and I know why they are the way they are. So I started playing by the same rules. I’ve done what I have done in this instance not to win, but to prove a point. I had already planned, that in the event I did win a bottle, I was going to give it to a friend that I feel is far more deserving than myself. I still not agree with how this has been handled, but there’s nothing I can do about that. Sure, I can keep things positive. Will I still question things?…yes. That is simply my nature. Doesn’t mean that there is any ill will intended, I just like to figure things out. I’m not a prick out of the pure enjoyment of being one, it is a means by which I can get some answers to things that could revealed any other way. You may not understand this, but I do it for me and no one else. Have a great day Lurker, and may the sauce be with you.

That brings up a very good point. Everybody believes initially that their opinion is the right opinion. Well, there’s an old saying that goes along with that. Opinions are like A-holes…everyone’s got one. Doesn’t mean that someone is right or wrong, its an opinion, a personal feeling on a matter. People are going to disagree on things no matter what it is…doesn’t make anybody right though.

Well, I have been attempting to keep my feelings out of the comments section, but here the yare. I may have inadvertantly started this whole mess when the guys here at work voted on the same network the first morning of the contest. Nick saw multiple vote coming from the same place and made an attempt to stop it, whether it was an honest mistake or not. THis led to questions about how Nick was moderating the votes and a few people figured a way around it. Nick, in an attempt to clarify the process,

Guys - As I’ve told some of you, the competition is as fair as I can make it and still leave it open to the community. Yes, people can ask friends and family to vote for their entry, but so can you (if your in it) – so in that sense, it is fair. It’s not the number of people you know but the number of people you know that are willing to spend the time to vote for you. All in all, you are driving traffic to the blog and bringing this community to a larger audience, so it’s all good.
may have inadvertantly opened a can of worms on the whole thing. I admit, I took this statement to heart as well and also contacted a few people to campaign for votes. In this process however, I began to notice that the focus was being shifted away from the actual enrties and more towards who could whore up the most votes. I found this very disheartening to say the least. I feel that no matter what happens with the votes, the whole thing got away from its original intention. Let’s all quit bickering and figure a way to prevent something like this from happening again. I like the idea of requiring three votes, seems to be a good suggestion that can be taken note of, maybe even combined with other ideas.
At this point, I really don’t care who wins or loses. I was very happy when I won (tie for first) the caption contest, and very suprised. I only made two comments in that whole thing, and one of them scored a tie for the win. The fact that my caption won on its own merit was very cool. If I end up in the top ten after this whole thing is over, I could only hope to have the same feeling I had when I won the “special” Zero.
Another thing that has really bothered me is the personal attacks during this thing. One person in particular that has been attacked may be one of the main reasons this contest existed to begin with. He didn’t do the first pimp sauce, but he sure carried it along. And before you attack me for my opinion, look back at the B-99 thread and see where you see the first mention of a Pimp Your Sauce ( comment #18 by the way). The point is that the roots of this contest are deep in this community, and everyone here is involved in its creation, not just the popular people. Whether you agree with someone or not they have every bit of a right to post here as anyone.
Now, everyone shut the he(( up and vote for who you honestly think should win. That is all it takes. No matter the outcome, we will all have other chances in the future, so win or lose, get over it and move on.
And good luck to all. I’m done. See ya on the other side tommorrow.

The thing that would dissapoint me the most is if people got so self involved in this contest, and the ones that deserve the prize dont get one. I see #2 teetering on the way out of the race.
THAT BAFFLES ME! It angers me even to a lesser degree, but it mostly dissapoints me.
I will be leaving the blog if that happens. I would be too disappointed in the people I have come to know here not giving credit where crdit was due, rather than just thinking about getting a 5oz bottle of sauce for their shelf, I would have given most of you more credit than that. I truely hope it does not come down to that.

That is exactly what I had hoped to avoid by suggesting what I did. Unfortunate thing is nobody wanted to listen to what I had to say and this is what it has come down to. I agree with you 110%, Pmac. As I stated earlier. Should I win anything, I am sending it to someone more deserving because I am not proud of the way things have had to go in order ot win.
