The final winners of the first Pimp Your Sauce Contest have been determined. I spent a few hours going over all the data and in the end came out with numbers that really didn’t reflect the final votes you may have saw. I also took into account the # of registered users that voted for each entry and cast my final vote as well.
The Winners:
1 - Entry 4 by eman
2 - Entry 7 by Jim c
3 - Entry 6 by huvason
4 - Entry 15 by Wendy & Vic
5 - Entry 12 by Ryan
6 - Entry 3 by DK
7 - Entry 1 by Adam G
8 - Entry 2 by Chile Chef
9 - Entry 14 by TTP
10 - Entry 13 by Tracy
If you are on the list above, please contact me and we will get your bottle shipped out ASAP. If your on the list and do not contact me within 5 days, your prize will be sent to the next in line. If your on the list and do not want the bottle, let me know and I’ll pass it on to the next in line again.
If I see any of these bottles on eBay or hear about them being sold for a major profit (remeber these are free to you) you will not be allowed in any future contests and will be removed from all collectors lists and updates. This contest was about having fun as a chilehead and set up just for that purpose.

If i had any dubious ip addresses all I can think is that sumone out there was trying to make me look fraudulent! ![]()
Wow. That is very different indeed. The top 2 not even in the top 10? Congrats to the winners and sorry to all the rest.
Great JOB Nick!!!
I would like to clarify for a comment on the entry thread about #2 and #4 being similar. #2 was completed well before #4 was ever on the website so it was not a matter of seeing someone and bettering it, it was their own idea 100% (Once again Chili Chef is not me of course, but I had the privledge of seeing a picture of it well before it was online)
Good Job, and Congratulations to all the winners!!! Cudos to Nick for making it what it should be!
THANK GOD IT’S OVER!

I agree pmac - thanx Nick - this could not have been easy. Thanx to all who voted.
Yeah thanks Nick, I know this must have been difficult
P.S. Nick, for the love of GOD PLEASE close the entry thread it is too big LOL>
For all that is good and evil, I beg of you!

Congrats to all the winners. There were some great contributions!!!
Interesting. I think it turned out as well as it could have. Good job Nick! Huvason know that you got my vote. I thought it was hilarious and much thought was put into it ![]()
Well done to all the winners and commiserations to those who didn’t win this time around.
Good work Nick - certainly was an excellent comp!

THANX Aaron. Spent a full day trying to find a small hemlet for it!
Nick…. I want you to have the “Nickalacky” (you can’t have the Humunculus though, it’s gone again
) - or the cat, my daughter took it.
Anyway it’s all done now and what great advertisement for the blog
MattUK sorry you did not win, but I think it may hav something to do with the confusion of the rabbit you used and saying it was a gerbil or something like that ![]()
I certainly hope no animals were harmed during the filming of that sequence.
The whole gerbil thing
hehehe j/k

Before folks start complaining and bugging me about their entries, the final factor in the voting outcome was the number of registered votes (from commentors here on the HSB) that each entry got. Each of these votes was given a weight of 10 - which made a huge difference on entries like #13 for which all 15 votes were registered users.
Whew! Thanks again to Nick for putting up with the craziness that this contest created, and a BIG thanks to the chileheads who voted for #13. Without you guys, I couldn’t have finished last! Haha
:)

Thats ok pmac. Just a bit gutted. Hope my original comments didn’t offend anyone. It’s just been a really bad week. Less than 3 weeks to exams now too
It is just a very obese guinea pig called Poppy - she wasn’t harmed, she quite liked it - I had to feed her to keep her still and thats possibly why
At least she’s been seen around the world now (not many guinea pigs can squeak about that)
If only I could have got a better picture
Hey Defcon! I had emailed someone in the past in ref to the helmet. I thought that I sent the email to you, but it was Jim C. Sorry, wasn’t trying to ignore you.
The helmet and boots come from a LE G.I. Joe, that was on the market approx 4yrs ago. It also has airpack and supply hose, full turnout gear etc… Very cool with realistic details. Good luck in finding these items! They are high dollar items now.

Be glad its over ![]()
Yes, good job Nick and let’s all put this in the rear view!
I just wish my “Pimpin HOt Sauce” Made it into the top 15 but it didnt. ![]()
Lame. All I can say is lame. People spent a lot of time and effort on there entries, and on getting people to vote (after Nick said it was allowed) and now that work counts for nothing. What an incredible disappointment. I know Nick had to put up with a lot of crap throughout this last week, and he’ll probably continue to do so… But from now on, post the rules in the beginning, and then stick to them. Don’t add things like vote weighting at the last minute. I could have saved myself a lot of time, effort, and headaches over the past week.
Lame. Thanks for the contest and the opportunity, but no thanks. In hind sight I wish I hadn’t entered.

Agreed, this should be put behind us and congrats to the winners !!!
But for what it’s worth, congrats to the winners. All the entries were great, so I have no doubt the people who won deserve such a great addition to their collection. I just don’t like the way the rules were so fluid.

If you don’t like the outcome, you can just stay off this blog and then you will have nothing to worry about. My 2 entries didn’t even make the top 15. I guess I should be on here bitching, but no I just said congrats to the winners and I will wait for the next contest to try my luck. This is my last post to deal with this contest. Over and out.
Has anyone received there vintage collection yet???

I have no argument with who made the top 15 (although I think there were some on the recent post of runner-up’s that were more deserving) because it was stated up front that Nick was choosing those 15. Fine.
But the rules were changed mid-contest. Not cool.

I just got an email on my Vintage set yesterday. I actually screwed up my CC number -that’s why my card never got charged all week (it was driving me crazy hearing how everyone was getting theirs). I need to call Karin on Monday to resolve.

Seems it was ok someone was criticized for “complaining” about the votes, but now it’s ok to complain about the results? C’mon. it all worked out in the end. Congrats to ALL that participated, regardless of who won what. That includes you also Ethan. You entry is very cool. i really ejoyed seeing another entry that used a lighting technique as I didn’t get mine to work well in the pics.
I think all but one entrant resorted to campaining at some point, so we know what you mean about working hard on that part. We were all treated fairly in the end as far as he caimpaign votes went, so even the winners lost out in that aspect.
Huge kudos to Nick for putting up with all of us in this thing and making a tremendous effort to make it fair for everyone!

Hey, pmac did you happen to get a look at that display case??? I found another one I am going to use with the vintage collection, it should fit all five bottles in it with flames in the background and it is lighted.

huvason, maybe you will get mine, I had to cancel my order due to a financial situation that came up after the initial order. Karin said I was within only a few hours of having my card charged, so it was truly a last minute (heart wrenching) decision. Good to see that they are gonna square it with you instead of moving on to the next person.

I think it’s fine to complain about the votes. I think Ryan was/is dead wrong, but he’s certainly entitled to his opinion. It’s not the results I’m questioning, it’s the method used to arrive at the results. Last night, my entry was way down the list. I never thought I would win, so I’m not complaining about the fact that I lost. I’m complaining about the fact that Nick set down rules, a few people complain, and they were CHANGED MID-CONTEST. That’s the issue here, and I think it needs to be addressed. Weighting votes is fine, IF it’s part of the rules in the beginning.
I’m sorry, but I think this is something that shouldn’t just be dropped. I’m not calling for a revote or something ridiculous like that. I’m not asking for anything that would personally benefit me. Just a fair contest, which means rules that are set and followed.

I think you need to send to Nick for a picture (or maybe the blogmaster junior - chris
)
Otherwise post a link to a pic, but I think links need approval.
The case for the 1993 bottle can be found in an e-bay store collectible supplies and the case for the vintage collection I also found on e-bay in their store southwest custom woodwork designs. This case is 17L X 9H x 6D, so I hope these botlles are 7 to 8 inches tall

If it goes to a copyrighted image, then would probably be a good idea to get approval from the pic owner. If it is your pic, then host it on your own space and link all you want. Links are an allowable tag, just so long as copyrights are not infringed upon.
A link to the site the image resides on is usually the best bet if it is not yours.

It seems all well and good for you to say that it all worked out in the end….i believe that is because you were in the top 10. Im not so sure you would be saying it all worked out if you had been a shoe in for one of the top numbers at the close of the competition but then found that your votes had all been void because of some serious change of rules to those stated at the beginning of the week.

Just to clarify, there was never a rules change. Nick only clarified how he was watching for double votes. He never made any comments about vaote campaigning, assumptions were made based on those comments, but that was all. So don’t blame Nick for any rules changes. He did his best to keep it fair for everyone. Nick only had three comments in the whole thread that I could see, #3, #6, 7 #33. All related only to double votes.

Well, I got an email or two to Nick to prove you wrong. But that info is between me and Nick for the time being. My whole point from the beginning was that the attention should have been towards the entries, not the votes. Mine was hosed from day one, none of my pics were worth a crap. I was tickled as anyone to even be in the top 15. All entrants, win or lose, were subject to the same final judgement. Mine just happened to fall into the top ten. I never expected it to. So, yes, I was suprised to see it this morning, but all of my statements from day one are the same, coming from near last place or sitting in the top ten.

There I go again quoting myself, I was suppose to be quoting you huvason. Guess it is time to go cut the lawn and get off this computer for awhile. Later all……
There could have been thousands of different ways to lay out the rules in this contest. Anyone who has ever promoted a contest, is well aware of the fact that not everyone is going to be satisfied with the way he/she conducts a particular contest. Hopefully Nick will not kill me for this comment, but here goes anyway.
If after observing and honestly, without bias, evaluating this contest from beginning to end, submit your DETAILED perfectly laid out rules for the next contest to Nick. Seriously folks, take time off of your job, school, family or what have you, develop a “plan”, and present your proposal to the “chairman of the board”..Don’t complain about what has been, just be PROACTIVE and submit the perfect solution for the next time..TC

Good idea Tracy, maybe Nick will agree. There were a couple of good constructive ideas in the other thread that would warrant some review if presented in an official manner.

If the emphasis was on the entries and not the votes then it wud have stopped this whole upset over the top ten. A lot of people have been left disheartened by the whole competition. If Nick is so sure with his final top 10 he would not object to posting the amount of qualifying votes each entry received!

Awesome idea, seems everyone including myself has views on the way this competition could have been handled. There is never going to be a totally unbiased way of conducting a competition, because whoever is in charge will always has some emotion tied up with one if not more entrants. The one way this whole thing would most certainly have been avoided is for the rules for public voting to have been clearly laid out before the voting began. Im sure if Nick had made everyone aware that HSB bloggers weight for voting was more significant, then people would have got around that. But then there is the case of having some sort of panel i.e the votes of the people on the top 20 commentors list will be the ones who’s votes hold the extra 9 points weighting or brian, defcon creator, nick, cajohn, as these were the ones that did not enter the competition (as far as I can see) and so would be the most unbiased!!
Have a Great Day! I must go attend to my life for a few hours..See ya!

Yep, beutiful here as well. Waiting on my nephew to come over to help with the yardwork. I’m gonna enjoy the outdoors today. Yard work is so much easier when you have a 16 year old nephew. Almost becomes a spectator sport! ![]()
I call all my friends Love. Grammas from England. It just kinda stuck.
Dads from Canada - He calls people “Great bloody Twits”
I prefer Love
