Review: Ass Kissin Lips & Ass Kickin Jelly Beans

There are spicy candies like atomic fire balls and cinnamon hearts and then there are the candies made for chili-heads. You see you have to really be a fan of habaneros to enjoy these and I will admit it was a little weird at first.

Ass kickin' Jelly Beans

Ass kickin' Lips

But in terms of candy these are quite good. Just like any chew/gummy type candy these are well done. They have a strong cinnamon taste which is what you get at first, followed up quickly by the unmistakable habanero flavour. For a spicy candy though I think they disappointed in the heat level. These should have been over the top in heat. Just like War Heads (if you like sour food you have to try the original war heads). If you have are a fan of the hot lips candy and jelly beans, I have to say Southwest food has done the original taste of the products much justice. Now, imagine that with habanero’s.

Ass kickin' Beans & Lips

Ass Kissin Lips Ingredients: Sugar, Corn Syrup, Food Starch, Modified Dextrose, Habanero Peppers, Natural and Artificial Flavours, Artificial Colours Including Red 3 and Red 40

Ass Kickin JellyBeans Ingredients: Sugar, Corn Syrup, Modified Food Starch, Citric Acid, Habanero Pepper, Confectioners White Wax Glaze, Natural and Artificial Colours (including FD&C Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Red 3, Red 40, Blue 1.

The best part of both of these I think would be mixing it into a bowl of regular candies. It would definitely make for some interesting sights at a party. Especially if Grandma or the new toddler happen to get one.

I can’t say these are the best candies I have ever had, even if they do have Habs in it. And I think they should have ramped up the heat significantly. But for the novelty of it and for fans of sweets and habanero flavour these are worth a shot.

Packaging 8/10 – The Ass has been around for ages – it works
Aroma 5/10 – cinnamon candy (there is no cinnamon listed in the ingredients
Appearance 9/10 – These look like really appealing candy – nice bright colours
Taste 7/10 – decent – candy done well – odd at first but has some appeal
Heat 6/10 – This stuff should have been blistering hot – they played it safe

Overall 7/10 – A true chili-head candy – worth a shot

I had a jar of the Ass Kickin Jelly-Beans about ten years ago on April fools day. That was quite a blast.

Lol, Im just glad the Piston’s were not involved !!!

Anyways, I can’t seem to get the “hot” sweets thing goin. Have tried hot sauce on ice cream, hot peanut brittle, habanero chocolate, etc. Just not for me.
