Butt Burner Hot Sauce

Ah these poor little piggies. Countless times have I seen their asses on fire in one way or another on a bottle of hot sauce. This bottle at least has some small town charm to it. Plain and simple. No proclamations that this is the hottest you have ever tried and no vulgarity to attract kids and freshman.

Ingredients: Habanero Peppers (peppers, water, vinegar, erthorbic acid to promote color retention.), water, salt, sugar, garlic powder, xanthan gum, propylene glycol alginate.

This sauce has a lot going for it. The colour is nice and there is heavy amount of particles (habaneros I suspect) suspended inside. The consistency is right in the middle of not being to thick and not too watery. Looking up at the ingredients list I am assuming the food additives are aiding the color and consistency department. No worries though as I am sure many eat MUCH worse on an everyday basis.

The aroma is quite impressive. The unmistakable smell of habaneros is very pleasant and sharp here. The taste though I ran into some other issues that were not as positive. The sauce is sweet. Maybe they had a heavy hand putting in the sugar but I found it almost to sweet and its usage therefore limited.

The heat is medium. A quick little blast of fire that quickly subsides and leaves a sensible tingling sensation afterwards for a few minutes. But damn, if I couldn’t get rid of that sweet acrid flavor that lingered for longer than the heat did.

Overall not a bad sauce, and if you are looking for something that is sweeter than most without the addition of any fruit, this one is worth a go.

Packaging 7/10
Aroma 8.7/10
Appearance 8.5/10
Taste 6/10
Heat 6/10
