Something good is going on in Belize.
Marie Sharp isn’t the only one there making a top notch sauce. Maybe it’s the clean air, tropical sun, whatever it is, it works. This sauce is fresh in every sense. Bright vibrant colours with lively flavour that will make any chili head smile from both flavour and heat.
The packaging is basic at best. It has a brief description, nutritional information and contact info. This is a sauce that will unfortunately be skipped in store aisles due to its bland label. The taste is anything but that.
I also have to mention that the sauce looks terrific. The red habanero’s are practically glowing in the bottle and there is a strong presence of whole seeds.
Ingredients: Select Red Habanero Peppers, fresh carrots, onions, key lime juice, vinegar, garlic and salt.
For some strange reason this sauce has a limiter on top and there is no reason for it. It is quite thick and frustrating when you are hungry and really wanting some good hot sauce. I think one of the reasons why I am fond of these fresh vegetable sauces is that they are low on the vinegar scale and the vegetables, especially the habanero’s, come out for strongly. Don’t get me wrong, I love vinegar based sauces, but at times their applications can be limited due to the high vinegar.

The field test for this was some Vietnamese food (I apologize for the blurry pictures). I made sure that there wasn’t any type of real Vietnamese sauces on here that would interfere with the flavour of this sauce. It took some good shaking to get a decent amount of this on the food. But after all was done the sauce mixed perfectly with the chicken, beef, shrimp and rice. How’s that for a sampler of different foods in one dish.

I am not sure if this is one of the dollar sauces Nick picked up in California. If it is though, I would highly recommend you try and find this sauce. This could be one of the sleeper sauces of the year.

Similiar. But yet different enough to stand on its own.
I love Marie Sharps so this wold be worth the purchase according to your review. I was unaware that Marie Sharps also did private labeling. I am quoting on some labels for a guy that is importing and private labeling Marie Sharps sauces. Interesting….
I have a bottle of this on my kitchen counter right now. Good stuff. If it’s not a Belizean Heat private label, Marie has some serious competition.
Hot Mama’s is not a Marie Sharp private label, the company is based in Cayo District, Belize and has a factory just past the town of Unitedville on the way to San Ignacio which you can tour.
We discovered Hot Mama’s a few years ago and now distribute the sauces in Canada. The Hot Mama sauces are great and have a lot of flavour to them.
