From the label: “Smooth and silky with oven roasted garlic and fiery hot jalapeños!”
INGREDIENTS: jalapeño peppers (jalapeños, vinegar, calcium chloride, citric acid), oven roasted garlic, onion, water, salt, olive oil
When I first saw this sauce I thought how cool the shape of this 12 ounce bottle was. It reminded me of what my friend used to put his homemade beer in. Very cool. The label was the label. Nothing that screamed out to me but nothing that was out of control. It looked liked something I would find in my local supermarket. It did it’s job and that is all that really matters in the long run anyway.
Now, after sitting and thinking of days gone by filled with homemade brew I noticed the color of the sauce. Green. I mean GREEN. It reminded me of puree peas. I didn’t throw in the towel just yet though. Color means nothing. Taste means everything.
I opened the sauce and stuck my pretty little nose into the top of the bottle. WOW! If I was a vampire, I would have turned into dust at that moment. GARLIC, GARLIC, and more GARLIC was all I could smell. OK, so now it is time to see what this sauce looks and tastes like. I pour some into a small bowl. It is very smooth and you can see little pieces of garlic every so often. Now I must taste it. Yup, it is garlic I smell all right! Actually to be fair the first taste I get is garlic, then olive oil, and then I taste the jalapeños. There is a slight kick but it doesn’t linger long. Nothing to shed tears about, but something to enjoy.

OK, so now I have to get my mind to think of the best way to use this sauce. Marinade is the first thing to pop into my head. OK, chicken breast here I come!

I marinade it overnight and make a grilled chicken sandwich with bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, roasted red pepper, salt, pepper, and mayo for dinner. I serve this with a side of steamed artichoke. Now, before I make my sandwich I taste a piece of chicken. It gave it a great garlic flavor, but no heat. Now, I taste my sandwich. It is good, but no heat. I poured some on the plate to dip, still just garlic coming through. The sauce has seemed to lose any of the jalapeño taste once added to food.

Now all in all this sauce is good. You need to like, or rather LOVE, garlic to enjoy this sauce. It is a true garlic sauce for garlic lovers! The heat is OK on it’s own, but loses it’s kick once added to food. It is a great sauce for all garlic loving chefs out there! The consistency of the sauce is smooth, flows wonderfully, and stays where you put it.
Packaging: 7/10 cool bottle
Aroma: 10/10 garlic (it is called Gourmet Roasted GARLIC Jalapeño Sauce)
Appearance: 6/10 looks like puree peas
Taste: 7/10 garlic ( I LOVE garlic and it is a little overpowering even for me)
Heat: 6/10 out of bottle 1/10 once cooked with or added directly to food
Overall: 7/10

Spot on review Jodie!!
Jodie, another great review, you have a way of making me hungry, your sandwich is gonna haunt me today.
I have spoken with Lorena, very nice to talk to, and an added bonus is it’s great to see another Phoenix AZ mfgr. in the news. I am guilty of not having any of their sauce or salsa yet, but I promise to change that soon. Roy and Lorena, keep up the good work!!!
Aj
That the prettiest damn sandwich I have ever seen! What’s that on the plate behind it, the “rough end of a pineapple?” Hee Hee.
I know, I know, artichokeme. Ewwww.
Great review, garlic is the best. Our Garlic Chili gets used as a marinade all the time, good call on the application.
You’re pretty good at this review thing. You had better not quit your day job as a Tamale though, and that’s a order!!! ![]()
Artichokes are awesome!!!

Creator, you must not have a tight seal on your respirator, because it would appear that the fumes are affecting your frontal lobe! ![]()
Boooo!! Hiss!!! Artichokes suck!! Bleeccchhh!
I just can’t understand anyone that won’t eat an artichoke. Butter and garlic on anything is a good thing!
Cut out the heart (that’s the fun part) and leave a couple inches of stem on it, slice them in half the long way, and fry them in oilve oil and hot sesame oil, man, I’m just getting hungry thinking about it!
As for my frontal lobe, I had that taken out years ago. ![]()

King,
It is not for you to understand Uncle Big, only to believe me when I say, I HATE ARTICHOKES!!
Perhaps it’s the fact that you can’t get a good one in Canada, but nah, I’m not eating them and you can’t make me no matter how much butter and garlic you put on it. ![]()
Although I did have a very nice artichoke entree in Napa Valley when we were there last, but it was slathered in a creamy jalapeno sauce, so that killed the taste of that vile weed. ![]()

Of course, what was I thinking.
No unlobotomized man would come up with Defcon Zero now would they? ![]()
I’m choppin’ at the bit about the Great Canadian Defcon Death Match in T.O. Keep me in the loop on that baby!!
Do I hear hating on one of the tastiest vegitables of all time? If your gonna hate on any vegitable it should be nasty asparagus, or that vile vile vile fungus the mushroom.
Sorry everyone Ive been on a big break from the HSB ive been out of it for awhile. Still growing chiles and eating sauce on everything though!
Nice review Jodie, Welcome to being a new reviewer. Also great review. I love garlic so it sounds good, but loses its heat? kinda lame also that is one unappetizing looking sauce. Reminds me of old apple sauce.

Daniel,
I guess I should elaborate. There was a “incident” involving an artichoke, a microwave, way too much Silent Sam Vodka and some blasting caps back in the 90’s that has scarred me for life. The records are sealed and I’m not at liberty to discuss the matter, but let’s just say I have flashbacks to that horrible, horrible day. Thus my feelings about the artichoke.
Funny thing is, I love asparagus and ’shrooms, especially specific wild mushrooms (the blue ones of course), but that’s a whole other misdemeanor felony charge.
I’m not trying to offend all you pro-artichokers, I’m pro-choice when it comes to the vegetables or road apples or whatever genus artichokes fall under. ![]()
This review is getting hijacked by my comments and I think we need to focus on Jodie’s review of the King’s product.
Now leave me alone. Hee Hee

Hi Jodie and all of our Hot Sauce Buddies;
Thank you for reviewing the Gourmet Roasted Garlic Jalapeno Sauce. It is a sauce that I created before I created the Flaming Green Garlic Passion. I wanted something to put on my sandwiches, eggs, etc. but I also wanted something that wasn’t too hot and could be used as a marinade for our customers who don’t like products that are too hot. We have customers that wanted a hot sauce to pour on their food but also something that they can also use as a marinade and the whole family can eat.
I just pour it over everything and that rich jalapeno and garlic flavor just wake your mouth up. It is a good french fry dipping sauce and is really good on baked potatoes, quesadillas, tacos and much more. So, no it isn’t a typical hot sauce for people who like to cook with a really hot sauce but it is great every other way.
I think it looks a little pea green too and I actually wanted to add more jalapeno to it to give it more of a green jalapeno color but our customers seem intrigued by the color and they like the heat level. I’m still considering it though.
Thanks again for the review.Lorena - The SalsaQueen
You are very welocme Lorena.

Thanks Daniel. I think if you like garlic, you should give it a shot. Honestly you can always punch up the heat in other ways.

King,
Take your best shot. My wife has made me try to like a lot of things and she has been successful in some, however artichokes have never made the list of successes.
Feel free to concoct your best artichoke offering and send it my way.
I await with my salivary glands all atwitter!!
Hope you and the Queen are well.
Daniel;
As I said before I didn’t make it for the typical hot sauce lovers so read my comment to the review and you will understand. The color doesn’t look anything like applesauce so why don’t you buy it and taste it before assuming the worst.

Hey Uncle Big, ou should really have a good old stuffed artichoke! YUM! Great little Italian deli by me, Latona’s, makes the BEST stuffed artichokes! Mine wasn’t as fancy, just steamed over chicken stock with garlic, olive oil, and fresh lemon juice on top of it. I don’t even use butter to eat them. But I hear ya, I have gotten my hubby to eat a lot of things he would have never thought he would in the last 11 years of marriage but artichokes are on the NEVER EVER list! ![]()

Thanks Big, life is busy here in the Kingdom of Flavor. Okay, here we go - Take one jar of marinated artichoke hearts, dump out the goop inside straining the hearts from all that stuff. rinse. Add the hearts back to the jar with some of our Flaming Green Garlic Passion Salsa, and some of your favorite Habanero hot sauce. Put in the fridge for a few days. When you are really hungry, take them out, drain them and roll in a bit of plain flour. Now, take a cup of flour, add a 1/2 cup of the marinade and enough of a really good heavy stout to the flour to make a thin batter. Dip the artichokes in and fry in 350 degree extra virgin olive oil (or for those that don’t believe in that, peanut oil) Serve with some red chile jelly or habanero berry jelly. Or mix some of the marinade and more hot sauce into some sour cream and serve with those. Also you can take those same garlic hot sauce marinated chokes and cut in half, add a spoonful of cream cheese that you mixed with some of the garlic marinade and then place on a Pilsbury crescent roll triangle. Roll the triangle around the choke, pinch all the seams and bake until golden. These are yummy.
hope these help a bit!!!!
