Breast Cancer 3Day

First of all I want to thank Nick very much for helping me put this thing together and all the generous sauce makers and manufacturers that contributed to my cause.

General LeeMy name is Troy Hangen (aka generalee) and I am addicted to hot sauce. I live in a planned community about 10 minutes north of Phoenix, Arizona. I have only been on the blog for a few months and I can foreshadow never not being on it. The fun times and wealth of knowledge I acquire here is priceless. I have had the chance to meet a few fellow bloggers and realized that if everyone else on the blog is as great of people as the 2 I just met, I am in store for some future great relationships starting when I meet all y’all at Fiery Foods next year.

3-Day Breast Cancer WalkThis year, I’ll be participating in a very special event called the Breast Cancer 3-Day.

I’ll walk 60 miles over the course of three days with thousands of other women and men. The net proceeds will support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment through the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Since my training began in the middle of the summer here in Phoenix (112 degrees), I have already accumulated over 300 miles in training and will do another 100 before the walk in early November. I get up every Saturday and Sunday at 4:30 and walk with about 15 - 20 women and walk miles after mile after mile.

According to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, approximately 200,000 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and nearly 40,000 will die from the disease. That’s why I’m walking so far. And hopes in the future, if my wife or daughter acquires this deadly illness, i will have helped to find a cure. I want to do something bold about breast cancer. I hope that you’ll share this incredible adventure with me by supporting me in my fundraising efforts.

I’ve agreed to raise at least $2,200 in donations. With special thanks to the generous support I have received, I will hope to raise the amount necessary to walk.

There will be 6 separate auctions of goodies and collectable items. Some of these you may have seen before and some have not. Please take in mind that all proceeds of these auctions are going to my pledge amount. All winning bids are able to be written off on your end of the year taxes. I have hopes and aspirations of doing this yearly for many years in the future. I have met some really nice ladies, some I can see being friends forever. There are 3 survivors of breast cancer and others that are directly linked to a sufferer or someone who has passed due to this illness. The journey for me has just begun. With the baby steps I have taken and the larger steps I will take on the walk, I will be able to hold my head up high and tell myself I did something good for someone else.

Good Luck to everyone and once again, Thanks.

good luck to you in your fund raising and during your walk, since i have been driving I have gotten lazy I am exhausted just reading the words “60 mile walk in 3 days” between you and Jim they should have enough to find a cure very soon, (I hope) you 2 are special people.

Good morning guys. Well, tailgated all afternoon yesterday, had a ball. Looks like we’ve hooked most of the Meadowlands Security guys to the wings, cooked up about 75-80 pounds yesterday. Life is good. I consider this a precursor to next weekend when we invade Jets (Giants) stadium parking lot. We did it last year and had a blast. Got some funny pics from yesterday, their on the sides of our homepage if you want to check them out.

Hey gang,
Just back from Northern Michigan, it was deep in snow, a welcome change from AZ. General Lee, thank you for such a great thing for a great cause, we at PPP are very proud to be able to help.
I must apologise to all bloggers for leaving some of you with promises unkept, but when I return, I will hit the ground running. I just had a very bad case of stress build-up, work issues and severe growing pains with the biz. A week in the snow has allowed me to CHILL OUT, lol, and regroup.
Email and puter access will be spotty at best, CaJohn, Bret, I will see you 2 soon, and to all the rest, keep up the great work. I sure do miss the HSB and all of you.
Last post untill I return next week
Jack

Troy, had to send a thank you. What you are doing is extremely admirable. My mom just went through breast cancer surgery a few months ago. I have raised money and done a 30 mile bike ride for diabetes over the past few years, but next year and in the future, will do something to raise money for breast cancer. Hats off to ya!
