Tabanero Label Change
Posted on 12.21.05 by Nick Lindauer @ 6:14 am | Comments: |
« « Previous | Hot Sauce Collector’s Corner - Edition #2 » »

As predicted earlier, there has already been a label change for the Tabanero hot sauce line. You see, when I first saw the original label (ad here) my gut reaction was that Crazy Ed’s would soon be hearing from Tabasco’s lawyers.

But I liked the sauce anyways, so I ordered a second bottle shortly after the original review (done on 11/05/05). The second bottle just arrived (over 30 days late) and as Biggles noted, there was a distinct label change.

Two Labels

The first bottle I recieved is pictured on the left and the latest bottle is on the right. Notice the change?

Good thing is: the recipe is still the same - so either way you’ll get a tasty sauce. In fact, you can still get one FREE (+ the cost of shipping) here.

Yeah yeah know, I don’t think this sauce is going to be around for long. I’ve handed my bottle around work and to friends. Every last one of them assumed it was a habanero based sauce and when they found out? Not very happy. I didn’t mention the name change until afterwards.
Although, as with our reviews, everyone said it was a darned good sauce, taste wise.
Time will tell.

I order 4 btls the first week of December 2005. I have still not received them yet. I talked with Helen (I think she is in charge of shipping) and was informed that they would be FedEx’d to me(this promise was made over a week ago). Still no sauce. I have made 2 more calls to the company and they have not called me back. I love hot sauce and would love to try it but this may be the one sauce the gets away.

I received a follow up call from them about a week ago. They were checking to see if I got my product ok and to see how I enjoyed it. I had ordered one of the free bottles only. I thought this was above and beyond on their part. I have never received a follow up call from anyone else after a product order for sauce, free or not. It may have been Helen, not sure. She told me that they had some trouble getting some of the shipments out due to a clerical error I think and that they were trying their best to accurately and quickly get the orders out. This may be good news for ya Rick, keep your fingers crossed. I know it took a few weeks to get my free bottle as they were going through the label change about that time, but it got here and it is a great sauce. I keep it in the fridge here at work and use it when I don’t go out for lunch.

I tried e-mailing their customer service a little over a week ago regarding billing issues and have yet to get a response from them.

[...] You can view the old bottle design that Randy’s seeking with this HSB article. Nick was smart enough to get one AND take a picture of it first. The new bottle design is pictured below. [...]

After a third call to Helen - she answers the phone and is very apologetic (sp). I was informed that the sauce is to be shipped today. Low and behold the next day I get an email from Paypal saying that I have been refunded my money for the order on 4 btls of sauce. Now I am guessing that they are not really going to be mailing me my order. If anybody out there has ordered more than they need - I would love to buy 2 bottles. One to try and one to place in the ever growing collection. Thanks

What’s that say about their shipping service if you’re forced to ask to buy from people’s personal overstock? I’d email them with a link to this page to further drive home the point that they need to get their act together. I was planning on trying some of this, but after reading these comments I think I’ll wait until the stories start sounding better.

Over two months for me. I placed my order over the phone. Two months later and no sauce. They replied to an email saying it would be mailed immediately. I received it two weeks later. With so many like complaints out there, I would say there’s definitely some monkeys lose in the attic.

TWO Months - Ha. I’ve been waiting since december. I totally forgot about it, though. Glad this thread got active again. Will getting on touch with them later.
