The Homunculus’ Gettysburg Address

Homunculs Ado

Before the ZERO’s were packed up and sent to their Port of Export, the Homunculus gave them a very nice send-off. His words of courage brought tears of condensation to the ZERO’s, whose emotions were running high, as their inevitable deployment was just around the corner. The Homunculus can be seen driving the troop transport to their Port of Export, and can be seen giving his children, the ZERO’s a fond adieu.

Don’t worry Homunculus, I will give your child a GREAT home. Should you have any more to adopt, let me know. I only live 2 hours from you and you can come visit the kids anytime you like. Hope they get along well with your two other children I have - 109 and 113 :) (Those two guys are trouble makers :) Always making fun of the Blair children!)

Hail to the Creator’s Homunculus, the protector of Defocon 0. Nice photo D!!!! Hey Mr. Creator sir, what ever became of the cat photo comment contest? Has a winner been chosen yet, or are you still debating away in your creative mind??

“Debating Away in my creative mind”. Hmmm, should I consider that a veiled compliment? Things have been a bit hectic around here, as you can imagine, and now that the Homunculus’ children have been globally deployed, I can get back to other things. I met with Nick last Saturday, and we briefly discussed it. As I understood it, I’ll be coming out with 5 winning captions, and you guys will vote for the one winner. Be careful what you wish for, as vindication will be mine!

Thanks Lee, hot sauce is all about fun. Once this industry becomes “UN”-fun, all will be lost. You can’t get the type of people on this site together anywhere else, it’s a fantastic melting pot of individuals, quite creative I might add, and it’s this type of diversity that keeps this industry alive and well.

IT’S NOT BUBBLEWRAP, it’s a cross section of the Homunculus Hive. Do not take these words lightly, for the Homunculus is quite adept at intercepting internet transmissions, and in his current mood, I wouldn’t tempt fate.

What makes you think that batch 2 is hotter than 1? I was looking through my pharmaceutical codex earlier and it tells you how to extract the capsaicin from chillies - I might give it a try if I can get strong enough ethanol - without methanol in it - I don’t intend to blind people. lol

Only that I think the CREATOR said he was refining his extraction process, so i’m assuming that he did and it yeilded a stronger batch. In other words - I HAVE NO IDEA!

Let me know about the capsaicin extract process. It’s something i’d like to try as well.

OK folks, here we go. I was in conference with the Homunculus this morning, pondering various metaphysical ideologies. Within the torrent of alchemical references we were bantering back and forth about, it hit us…we have a couple of ZERO BATCH #2’s left. The reasoning behind this is for various reasons that I won’t get into, as some may be slightly embarassed if I did. We will be bringing them to Defcon Day on Saturday.

I would like to take the time out now to thank you all for your interest in this little bundle of joy. We have received numerous e-mails stating you guys really like what you got. These ZERO things are a personal thing, as a lot of thought goes into the making and packaging of them, as most of you have commented on. I thought the edible packaging was quite funny actually. I prefer to think of it as home defense. Actually, I only kept 1 of each batch for myself. There is another vessel, unlike the one that resides in your home, that holds the over-run. I use this to draw tears from the crowds at various Defcon Days, as the testosterone-filled nimrods flock to my booth, incessantly chanting, not unlike the characters in a Ceceil B. DeMille film, “I can eat anything hot”. I then fill their minds with new ideas, whilst cleaning out their tear ducts at the same time. ‘Tis an overwhelming sense of happiness to The Creator to see an individual set straight into the world of reality, and to see his friends laugh at him, as his face becomes covered in various facial fluids, humbled and overly embarrassed, but nonetheless saved from future thoughts of self-mutilation.

Sorry Aaron, Im just having fun. See, HSB is a great place, but to much knowledege is not always a great thing. Sauce collecting is becomming trickier by the week and everything seems to be exposed for all to see.
Bottles that arent worth much end up worth more because of this exposure on here. Its just the way it goes. Never put all your eggs in one basket, keep your eyes and ears open and you will see ;-)

I am entertaining the thought of selling it to him (for the original price only) to start the ball rolling. You know, I hadn’t thought about that, but the honorable thing to do may be to open one of mine. Nope, that thought just went out the window. :) I had a hard enough time opening my first bottle of HBS to eat. Yep, I bought 2 HBS’s, one is on the shelf. That and the great flavor doesn’t make it any easier though. I felt bad enough (or was that joy?) just ending up with two Batch 2’s. It would probably kill me to taste it! Of course I would probably die with a smile on my face!

You might wonder how I know that only two exist. My benefactor is one of the 8 friends the bottles were sent to. Apparently they all know one another and she was able to determine who did what.

Although…let me add that I would never hold her accountable should a third one show up. The Creator, I’m sure, can also add some insight when he comes online.

Although, it could be considered one. At first, I thought he had gotten over on me, but alas he is like most if not all of you guys around here, honest, and would have returned it if I had asked. So be it. To the victor go the spoils.

MSK on 3/31/2006 at 12:01 am said:

I not only have in my little hands a bottle of Zero Batch #1 and #2, I also have a bottle of the original “Zero Prototype”! Only 8 were produced. The one I have is 1 of only 2 known to still exist. By all accounts the rest were opened to utilize this now famous concoction.

OH…I forgot! It’s also signed “From the Creator to Randy”

Ok everyone, all together now…….DAAAAAAAAAAMN!!!!!!!

This is correct. I had sent our first pressing out to 8 people on The Hot Pepper, just to see what they thought. Well, it’s quite obvious they liked it, as only 2 that I know of still remain.

MSK on 3/31/2006 at 12:18 am said:

You might wonder how I know that only two exist. My benefactor is one of the 8 friends the bottles were sent to. Apparently they all know one another and she was able to determine who did what.

Although…let me add that I would never hold her accountable should a third one show up. The Creator, I’m sure, can also add some insight when he comes online.

I’m just going by what people ’said’ they did with them, most of them ended up in chili.

Vic on 3/31/2006 at 12:11 am said:

With all of the spring cleaning of warehouses going around- maybe it will turn up

Highly unlikely, as after I made the 8, I had a small amount remaining, and used it on various testosterone-filled idiots who told me they could eat anything hot, and then going into near epileptic convulsions when they tasted it. I’m not saying this stuff is 10 million Scovilles or anything, but it’s HOT. I think what sets our stuff apart from many others is the fact it is all created by hand (NO electrical machines), and it takes a few months to make. As I had previosuly stated, the next batch will be substantially larger as we have perfected a device which will increase our harvesting amount (yes, I’m working on a patent for it).

Adam2 on 3/31/2006 at 2:03 am said:

I hear ya on that one MSK! I think my schedule is opposite of everyone else’s. How old is the Zero prototype? I didn’t even know that they existed.

The ZERO prototype is about 2 and a half years old, just before the inception of Defcon Sauce, LLC.

huvason on 3/31/2006 at 7:02 am said:

Now I’m depressed! I didn’t know such a bottle existed. My goal was to try and make sure I at least had all the DEFCON stuff (no way to keep up with the Blair’s collectors around here).

Not to worry, no one really did, and like I said, I had no idea that my little idea of a company was going to do as well as it is. I was just toying around with habanero souls, and VOILA!

Alright, I am no longer the owner of #250. I let my co-worker take it off my hands (pried would be a better word :) ) for my original cost. Ikimoto is now an official sauce collector. Nice? I nearly just gave him the darned thing just to get him to leave me alone! :)

I figured that was his plan, so I mad it hard on him. It wasn’t really that hard to give it up, he’s a good guy and is really interested in starting a collection, so I thought it would be a good start instead of a run of the mill type of sauce, or a super expensive Blair product off of eBay. I have a friend in a neighboring town that I gave a Frostbite 4 to for Christmas and he nearly flipped. I don’t even have one of those on my shelf. I came real close to giving him one of the two LeMillions, but that would have been just plain wrong. He alwys liked the Frostbite and Magma bottles, so I knew he would flip over the Frostbite 4.

Besides, I believe that you reap what you sow.

see huvason , you already know how much you can get for a bottle, look where the bids are.

Creator, that is very impressive! You’re reserve fetched more than many of Blair’s often do. You have definitely carved a niche in the collectors world, even if it was unintentional. I think your sauces are going to start popping up a bit more often now that the owner’s know what they’re worth(pmac, chris k :) ) Now we’ll have to see if huvason still has trouble letting go of his!

Adam, nothing is unintentional when it comes to marketing. Lets not forget that the “CRAPalacky” also fetched a pretty large bid…”more than many of Blair’s often do”. To carve a “niche” in the collector’s world, one should never shun anyone that retails a product you provide. First rule of marketing. Carry a set of knee pads and chapstick for EVERY one of your customers. Building relationships with all your customers, not just the bigger ones **cough**SNS**cough** is vital to a business’s success. Some people just don’t get this.

sorry Creator, I just reread my comment and thought it sounded bad (or could be interpreted that way). What I meant was I wish it had gone for less so that I could afford it….it was not aimed to say it was not worth that, which it clearly is

Hi Ryan, well, I think the price the Batch #1 went for was a little unexpected however, The Createss didn’t believe me until I showed her the auction. Marketing is a VERY big part of business, and getting your name out there is by far the hardest part. I would LOVE to do Defcon Days every weekend across the nation, I really would. Perhaps if and when I ever get rid of one of my day jobs, that will happen, but as it stands, living in the northeast with approx. 65% of the US population within short driving distance, it’s a good place to get a foothold into the market. I am kind of amazed however, at how far Defcon has come in only a little over a year. Wait until you see the packaging on the Batch #3!

Yeah the money is going towards more sauce. Hopefully something good. I get my loan on Monday (this has got to pay off my overdraft - or some of it - I spent ~$1000 over the last 2 months) and I’m liking the caldera and a few others on ebay. Knowing my luck though it’ll just have to pay some of the customs duty on the sauces I already bought :(

Agreed, having 2 of them is quite rare. Like I said, I don’t know exactly how many were opened, but I have been told over time by several people who opened theirs, and there are at least 8 that have gone to the Other Side. Oh, we just got all the raw materials and started working on the packaging for the Batch #3 that will be released in Hillsborough on Sept. 9th. Man, it’s gonna be funny as Hell, and MUCH different than the first 2 releases. A good amount more ’stuff’ in the vessel (I think I mentioned we created a new cold press and tweaked our distillation methods, of course with the inclusion of dry ice, so our harvests will be substantially larger…Not to mention the requests I got for larger bottles), and some rather eye-catching packaging. There will be a few more made as well, so people won’t feel as bad opening one.

Hello all,

Looking for some help, I am going to Las Vegas this weekend to play in a softball tournament. Does anybody have any leads on any hot sauce stores in that area.

Thanks,
MR

Well, you can get Mad Anthony’s and Joe Perry’s at the Hard Rock. I know of a nice little online shop from Vegas. That is all the help I can give.

Texas was shot down by Mrs Huvason a while ago. Besides, this way I KNOW I will get batch #3. Won’t have to wait for an email. Plus if I keep feeding the creator beer and shots, maybe I can get a spare out of him :D

Previous committment to the Hillborough Fire Dept, maybe Texas next year. I had told Mad to pick up my Golden Chili while he’s down there, but now that he has all but disappeared, I may be forced to use Dan from BLP, ugh.

You guys are hysterical!
A bottle of Blue is quite enticing. Perhaps you can strike a deal with The Huvason to pick 1 (perhaps 2) up at the event in September.

And yes, there is beer at the event. At least there was last year. I’ll be bringing a bunch anyway…Hmmm, Defcon shot glasses, now that would be a cool idea (jots down in note pad).

Hmmm, Chris I think you may be right. Perhaps the little guys that now resides in his floors are getting to him. Must be the nightly chant of “It’s a small world” that is finally forcing The Huvason closer to a psychotic break.

However, he is assuming a bottle of Black will be a straight up trade, he must have forgotten the standard ‘curveballs’ I throw.

I’m innocent of the charges! As a matter of fact, the Creator himself has freely admitted that the Homunculus is in his Crisper. Yes, first the denial……… Yep, I didnt do it

Then the blame shift……… Not blaming anyone…….yet

Followed by the alibi, and the smoke screen……..

Well, the fact is there were a handful of people at Defcon Day and they all knew each other so I couldnt have been there :-)

ROFL, the booger did it guess so :-(

Guilty as charged was I charged already???

Let’s see. The Huvason kidnaps the Defcon mascot and blames it on a number of inanimate bottles. Then, when cornered, shifts blame to his wife, who is currently being mind controlled by the plastic bobblehead that The Huvason kidnapped. Meanwhile, unknown to us at the time, Chris K snuck into the last Defcon Day incognito, and drugged Mad, forced him to divulge his address, drove to his house and acquired his hot sauce collection. Realizing he didn’t use the “roofie” and that Mad will remember what he looked like, he locks Mad in his basement and ties him to the wall with the firehose Jim gave to him.

Man, you just can’t make this stuff up…
