Things have been a bit hectic around here, as you can imagine, and now that the Homunculus’ children have been globally deployed, I can get back to other things. Thanks Lee, hot sauce is all about fun. Once this industry becomes “UN”-fun, all will be lost. It works, but can be very slow in posting info. I’ve received packages, even before the tracking info shows up! Still beats UPS on small orders.

I don’t believe that the creator has had the zero’s tested. I’ve never tried the ZERO - hoping to dip into the creator’s stash on Saturday. I’m guessing batch 2 is hotter than batch 1.

What makes you think that batch 2 is hotter than 1? I was looking through my pharmaceutical codex earlier and it tells you how to extract the capsaicin from chillies - I might give it a try if I can get strong enough ethanol - without methanol in it - I don’t intend to blind people. lol

Only that I think the CREATOR said he was refining his extraction process, so i’m assuming that he did and it yeilded a stronger batch. In other words - I HAVE NO IDEA!

Let me know about the capsaicin extract process. It’s something i’d like to try as well.

We did the boxes, but had to job out the laser etching, my argon laser cutter is in the shop right now.

Well I’m happy to report that there was a pleasant surprise on my doorstep when I got home. ZERO Batch #2 has arrived safely. Love the packaging (it tastes good too). The certificate of Authenticity is great!

OK folks, here we go. I was in conference with the Homunculus this morning, pondering various metaphysical ideologies. Within the torrent of alchemical references we were bantering back and forth about, it hit us…we have a couple of ZERO BATCH #2’s left. The reasoning behind this is for various reasons that I won’t get into, as some may be slightly embarassed if I did. We will be bringing them to Defcon Day on Saturday.

I would like to take the time out now to thank you all for your interest in this little bundle of joy. We have received numerous e-mails stating you guys really like what you got. These ZERO things are a personal thing, as a lot of thought goes into the making and packaging of them, as most of you have commented on. I thought the edible packaging was quite funny actually. Anyway, thanks once again…

I prefer to think of it as home defense. Actually, I only kept 1 of each batch for myself. There is another vessel, unlike the one that resides in your home, that holds the over-run. I use this to draw tears from the crowds at various Defcon Days, as the testosterone-filled nimrods flock to my booth, incessantly chanting, not unlike the characters in a Ceceil B. DeMille film, “I can eat anything hot”. I then fill their minds with new ideas, whilst cleaning out their tear ducts at the same time. ‘Tis an overwhelming sense of happiness to The Creator to see an individual set straight into the world of reality, and to see his friends laugh at him, as his face becomes covered in various facial fluids, humbled and overly embarrassed, but nonetheless saved from future thoughts of self-mutilation.

It was a fluke. Almost sent it back. DC was kind enough to give me the option to keep it. The guys at work talked me into keeping it. My eyes almost popped out of my head when the mail lady walked in with two packages instead of one.

Sorry Aaron, Im just having fun. See, HSB is a great place, but to much knowledege is not always a great thing. Sauce collecting is becomming trickier by the week and everything seems to be exposed for all to see.
Bottles that arent worth much end up worth more because of this exposure on here. Its just the way it goes. Never put all your eggs in one basket, keep your eyes and ears open and you will see

Got a guy at work, one of the ones that conviced me to keep it, that is interested in starting a collection. I am entertaining the thought of selling it to him (for the original price only) to start the ball rolling. I think that is why he wanted me to keep it, so he could talk me out of it! I think it would be a good start for a new chillihead, maybe?

You know, I hadn’t thought about that, but the honorable thing to do may be to open one of mine. Nope, that thought just went out the window. I had a hard enough time opening my first bottle of HBS to eat. I still have to turn the sig away from me in the fridge door to keep from having that feeling of regret. Feels better once it hits the food though!

You know, I hadn’t thought about that, but the honorable thing to do may be to open one of mine. Nope, that thought just went out the window. I had a hard enough time opening my first bottle of HBS to eat. I still have to turn the sig away from me in the fridge door to keep from having that feeling of regret. Feels better once it hits the food though!

Yep, I bought 2 HBS’s, one is on the shelf. That and the great flavor doesn’t make it any easier though. I felt bad enough (or was that joy?) just ending up with two Batch 2’s. It would probably kill me to taste it! Of course I would probably die with a smile on my face!

You might wonder how I know that only two exist. My benefactor is one of the 8 friends the bottles were sent to. Apparently they all know one another and she was able to determine who did what.

Although…let me add that I would never hold her accountable should a third one show up. The Creator, I’m sure, can also add some insight when he comes online.

Now I’m depressed! I didn’t know such a bottle existed. My goal was to try and make sure I at least had all the DEFCON stuff (no way to keep up with the Blair’s collectors around here).

This is correct. I had sent our first pressing out to 8 people on The Hot Pepper, just to see what they thought. Well, it’s quite obvious they liked it, as only 2 that I know of still remain.

Highly unlikely, as after I made the 8, I had a small amount remaining, and used it on various testosterone-filled idiots who told me they could eat anything hot, and then going into near epileptic convulsions when they tasted it. I’m not saying this stuff is 10 million Scovilles or anything, but it’s HOT. I think what sets our stuff apart from many others is the fact it is all created by hand (NO electrical machines), and it takes a few months to make. As I had previosuly stated, the next batch will be substantially larger as we have perfected a device which will increase our harvesting amount (yes, I’m working on a patent for it).

I figured that was his plan, so I mad it hard on him. It wasn’t really that hard to give it up, he’s a good guy and is really interested in starting a collection, so I thought it would be a good start instead of a run of the mill type of sauce, or a super expensive Blair product off of eBay. I have a friend in a neighboring town that I gave a Frostbite 4 to for Christmas and he nearly flipped. I don’t even have one of those on my shelf. I came real close to giving him one of the two LeMillions, but that would have been just plain wrong. He alwys liked the Frostbite and Magma bottles, so I knew he would flip over the Frostbite 4.

Besides, I believe that you reap what you sow.

And Chris, give ‘em up man. Which ones ya got?

I think your sauces are going to start popping up a bit more often now that the owner’s know what they’re worth(pmac, chris k ) Now we’ll have to see if huvason still has trouble letting go of his!

Adam, nothing is unintentional when it comes to marketing. Lets not forget that the “CRAPalacky” also fetched a pretty large bid…”more than many of Blair’s often do”. To carve a “niche” in the collector’s world, one should never shun anyone that retails a product you provide. First rule of marketing. Carry a set of knee pads and chapstick for EVERY one of your customers. Building relationships with all your customers, not just the bigger ones **cough**SNS**cough** is vital to a business’s success. Some people just don’t get this.

I whole-heartedly agree. Except in my line of work I use olive oil instead of chapstick.

Marketing is a VERY big part of business, and getting your name out there is by far the hardest part. I would LOVE to do Defcon Days every weekend across the nation, I really would. Perhaps if and when I ever get rid of one of my day jobs, that will happen, but as it stands, living in the northeast with approx. 65% of the US population within short driving distance, it’s a good place to get a foothold into the market. I am kind of amazed however, at how far Defcon has come in only a little over a year. Wait until you see the packaging on the Batch #3!

Yeah the money is going towards more sauce. Hopefully something good. I get my loan on Monday (this has got to pay off my overdraft - or some of it - I spent ~$1000 over the last 2 months) and I’m liking the caldera and a few others on ebay. Knowing my luck though it’ll just have to pay some of the customs duty on the sauces I already bought

Welll…… did you open it? Once you do, that’s one less out there in the world. Remember ther were only 23 of these puppies made, and a bunch were opened for use just like you are doing!

Let us know how it tastes. I’ve tasted Batch #2 and it is good.

Oh, we just got all the raw materials and started working on the packaging for the Batch #3 that will be released in Hillsborough on Sept. 9th. Man, it’s gonna be funny as Hell, and MUCH different than the first 2 releases. A good amount more ’stuff’ in the vessel (I think I mentioned we created a new cold press and tweaked our distillation methods, of course with the inclusion of dry ice, so our harvests will be substantially larger…Not to mention the requests I got for larger bottles), and some rather eye-catching packaging. There will be a few more made as well, so people won’t feel as bad opening one.
