Toursits for a Day: Father’s Day Bus Tour

The wife and I did something everyone should do after living 2 years in the same city. Take a tour. See things you haven’t ever looked up to see - be a tourist for a day. We hopped on the Gray Line Bus Tours Uptown Tour early on Father’s Day, eager to get out and about to enjoy the fabulous New York weather. Now, the wife and I have lived here in New York City for almost two years and have never seen 60% of the city - and of the 40% we have seen, 20% will certainly change before we see it again. Doesn’t have much to do with hot sauce, but the tour was a lot of fun. All pictures can be found on Flickr.

After the tour, I picked up some serious Porterhouse steaks that I’ll tell you all about later.

Hey Huv, I was born in Plainview and lived in Hicksville and Levittown before moving here to Florida. I’ve been here most of my life, I did grade school up there. I still have a good amount of Family spread out all over the Island mostly.

Cool - I have friends in Plainview and Levittown. I actually get my Habaneros in Plainview! (about 10 minutes from where I work).

Nick great slide show, I haven’t been in NYC for many years but a few of the photos I remember. I worked a short time in Babylon, Long Island, at a place called Victoria Sweets (Chocolate Factory) Used to ride the train to 42nd to walk around for hours in the downtown area. After my short stay I was told to serve my country(DRAFT).Onlypassedthru a couple times since. I told my wife she would really enjoy a tour such as you took.

Funny - I work just north of Babylon!

I agree, it is. It’s always neat to piece together similiarities and places known with people you meet. I think it brings up strong feelings about those places; memories and thoughts back to “a time when”- good stuff, crap I sound like Dr Phil or something!
