Holiday time is upon us and it’s time to think about cooking (and eating) in massive quantities. Laura & I have already begun our T-Day meal planning - as we’ll be hosting our first formal gathering in our new home. And boy oh boy are we trying to make sure we plan ahead as much as possible.
So, that got me thinking about all the recipes out there and some of my favorite chilehead creations - and since it’s ThanksGIVING - we’ve decided to make the contest that much more interesting.
Guidelines:
- All entries must be received by 11/17 (midnight) - Entries need to be sent to nick ‘at’ hotsauceblog.com
- All entires must include a recipe & instructions +a photo of the final dish
- To be considered for entry, each submission must be chilehead in nature - i.e. it must contain any of the following: peppers, dried peppers, hot sauce, bbq sauces, salsa, extract ect… But that does not mean the final dish has to be super spicy.
- ANYONE can enter.
- Winners will be announced the week of 11/19 - before Thanksgiving, so that HSB readers can use the recipes for their holiday dinner if they wish.
Prizes:
1st Place: $100 Cash (or Gift Card of choice) and $100 to the charity of winners choice
2nd Place: $50 Cash (or Gift Card of choice) and $50 to the charity of winners choice
3rd Place: $25 Cash (or Gift Card of choice) and $25 to the charity of winners choice
That’s it! Have fun and be creative - and if there are any questions, please let me know. Happy cooking!

How will the entries be judged?
This should be a pretty interesting contest!
How many entries are you allowed? Can I enter as many as I like?
Leave it to you to figure out how to do fun + charity
Got the package today- thanks!! Did mine ever make it??

Ah - that would help - entries will be judge on final appearance, use of ingredients and overall appeal. Invites have been sent out to a few members of the industry (non manufacturers and non reviewers) to do the judging - if they accept, they will be announced shortly. If we can’t get any judges to help, we can put up a poll (one day only) here on the HSB.
Enter as many as you’d like.
I’m sorry Nick, but what I meant was what’s the process? I send in my entry and then what happens from there? Will the judges actually be preparing the dishes? Or will it only be judged on how it looks on paper? I wasn’t interested in the criteria, but in the actual judging process. Thanks.
AWESOME! I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!

Most likely it will be a two part process - first on the “paper” version of the submission and then on “prepared” versions of the dish - however that all depends on the amount of entries received and the number of judges participating. If there’s too many entries or not enough judges, then it may only be on paper - I’ll finalize the process before judging begins and let everyone know - suggestions are always welcome of course.
Thanks Nick.
Let’s see mashed tatas, cheddar cheese, and some THT Cry Baby on top. Tada…sign me up. ![]()

How many categories will there be? I do some creative things with leftovers.
Are you looking for Turkey recipes or side dishes, or anything?
Hay Nick Great Thought……I think you are going to get too many entries to cook all those birds…..so how many paper Judges would you have…..and if you pick them I’m sure they will be a class act….just seeing your own reviews over the year’s say’s it all!!!
Entry submitted. Thanks again for running these amazing contests, I hope there are a lot more in the new year!!!!
