Everyone - we have some important information about Zest Fest 2007 that will save you $$, so please read below:

Last year, Cheffy reserved a block of rooms at the Amerisuites (Stockyards) for HSBers. If you’d like to stay at the Amerisuites, the rooms are available for a discounted $129 a night for the Thurs-Sun block. You don’t have to stay all 4 nights to get the rate, but you have the option if you need to. The Amerisuites will not be an Amerisuites come September, it’ll be a Hilton and the room rates are going up quite a bit, so call and make your reservations ASAP - there are only a limited number of rooms available at the discounted rate.

To make youre reservation, please call:
Fort Worth/Historic Stockyards AmeriSuites
132 East Exchange Ave.
Fort Worth, TX 76106
Tel: (817) 626-6000
Fax: (817) 626-6018

And make sure to tell them that you are with the Hot Sauce Blog to get the discounted rate.

Poker Night (Saturday Night):
We’ve reserved the same conference room for Saturday night from 7pm to 5am - however, they are removing the breakfast buffet and putting in a bar, so we’ll be able tp purchase beer and wine there (until 2am) but we will not be able to bring in our own. But we’re all adults, so everyone figure that one out for themselves. To play in the poker game, the cost will be $10-$15 per person (we have to cover the $250 room rental charge) and a bottle of hot sauce. As with the first tournament, we will order trophies and the winners (and biggest loser) will all get prizes.

Collector’s Badges
Once again, Chile Pepper will be doing collector’s badges. Stay tuned here for more information.

Big thanks to Cheffy for looking out for everyone!

I wonder if Paris will be attending?

I missed the poker game last year, and I miss it this year if there’s blow up dolls involved….lol

NICE. I had reserved a room there but at a higher rate so I called and they gave me the $129 rate. Thanks Nick and Cheffy for saving us some beer money!

Agreed, more money for beer is always a good thing. I’ll be doing my annual “fly-through” 24-hour visit again, getting back here just in time to get back for the Fire Dept cookoff.

Hey all - interesting afternoon in New York. Big steam explosion in Grand Central Terminal around 6pm this afternoon. I work on 46th & Lex (3 blocks away) - our office building lights went out and the building shook, looked out the window and saw people RUNNING down Lexington ave. Then Fire alarm came across the PA and told us to get out of the building. Exacuated the building and had to deal with 1000’s of people running around and no cell phone service (too busy). Walked 25 blocks to meet up with Laura - all is okay, we met and had dinner with Rob (blundaar) and his wife - great times and the beer was much needed after all that adventure. After a few hours all has returned to normal in the city - cabs and subways are back operating. I’ll post cell phone pics in the forum shortly - the smoke, steam and city wide panic was crazy - no words…

And wes - yes, I was up at 3am this morning, I spoke with Daniel on IM - he was heading to bed and I just got up :-)

I heard from others who were in the city at the time of the explosion they got that dreaded feeling of terror. Not a nice feeling. Glad you and the fourth Tamale are ok.
