Hello from just north of Toronto Ontario!
I am a mom of 2, grandmother of 5. My first foray into the world of hot food was wings, I suppose like many people. They were never hot enough. Then one
day my husband and I went into a new place and I orderd hot wings. “Are you sure” asked the waiter? “um, yeah….” “May I recommend mild to start?”
We settled on the medium and my husband sat, amused, and watched me struggle to eat the first one. I made it. And finished the order, although I think I
had about 3 cokes too. My family thinks I am adopted. My husband sighs when I order hot sauce online. The dog won’t eat my food.
My son and son-in-law have recently switched sides and are starting to agree with me though, NEEDS MORE HOT SAUCE!!! It was 1990 before I found out why food always lacked something, to me. Now I have it figured out, blah food is blah.
I have over 100 hot sauces and similar items in my cupboard. My favourite hot sauce is still Melinda’s 4***Reserve, love the flavour and the heat. It’s not full of spices or other ingredients. My friend Bill told me that the best part of a new bottle of hot sauce is to be savoured: opening it carefully and inhaling that habanero aroma! MMM!
Bill, I understand now.
Now I understand!
- Top 5 Hot Sauces:
- Melinda’s 4**** Reserve
- Marie Sharp’s
- Cajohn’s Hab Chocolate
- Red Rectum Revenge
- Hot Lime
Hottest Sauce Ever Consumed: A 1/2 square piece of orange savina. I thought I was dying… seriously, I was having dinner with some friends I had just met and I sat there looking from one face to the next, hoping someone would notice my dilemma and call an ambulance. No one did. I survived.
Number of Hot Sauces in Collection: about 100. About 10 of those are the kind I will never eat, they just taste too bad. I usually have 6 – 8 open and on the go, of which 3 or 4 are my commodity sauces.. I keep them like butter and eggs.
Favorite Type of Sauce: I usually enjoy Habanero hot sauces, prefer the ones with carrot and lime and not too many other ingredients. I don’t make my own hot sauce but I do make my own pickled peppers and I freeze peppers. You can’t get anything where I live except jalapenos so I have to grow them to eat them.

Hot Sauces Consumed: I must have consumed… hmm…. 100 bottles? not really a great clue. A lot.

Hi Lipant, you seem to pop up everywhere where the heat can be found. See you on the list!

Does anyone know a company that will private label a good hot sauce for us? We are putting a spring promotion together at our company and a good hot sauce is good marketing – bottler must be close to Toronto, Canada – thanks…
