I eat food with my hot sauce.
The name’s Nick and I run this joint. I’m also the owner of Sweat ‘N Spice Hot Sauces. Why the two sites? The Hot Sauce Blog is for pure informational purposes & fun. Business is business.
I’ve been a collector and a consumer of hot sauces for more years then I can remeber. I live with the wife and our two dogs in New York City. At just about every meal you’ll find me with a different bottle of hot sauce or cooking something up with fresh habaneros.
Feel the burning need to shoot me an email? You can do so here.

- Top 5 Hot Sauces:
- Blair’s After Death
- Marie Sharp’s Belizean Heat
- Loco Luna Lava - Hot
- Slaughter Sauce
- Desert Pepper XXX Hot
Hottest Sauce Ever Consumed: Blair’s 16 Million (16 Million Scoville Units) is the hottest I’ve consumed. Review here. I still have leftovers, so I’m sure I’ll be doing it again. But if we’re talking edible hot sauces then I would have to say 357 Mad Dog Collectors (600,000 Scoville Units) or Blair’s Jersey Death (2x the heat of Blair’s Mega Death).
Number of Hot Sauces in Collection: About 1,000 now. Some collector’s bottles and a ton of ones I’ve found along the way.
Favorite Type of Sauce: Habanero. The simplier the better on these. I love sauces I can use on any meal, breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Personal Website: Yeah, this one.
Hot Sauces Consumed: In my lifetime? Hmm…2 bottles a week X 52 weeks a year X 10+ years = 16k+. That’s a lot of hot sauce folks!

Hi Nick,
I am a chilehead, but I have found it very difficult to find any hot sauce that has a heat level of 9 or 10 or more that has a taste that I like.. I really like Jardine’s Sontava Habanero XX Hot Sauce (heat level 7) and Sontava XXX Hot Sauce (heat level 8).. Another brand I like a lot is the Tropical Pepper Co. XXXtra Habanero Pepper Sauce (heat level 7) and XXXXtra Habanero Pepper Sauce (heat level 8).. These two Brands have a really great taste.. Can U suggest some that I might like that has an heat level of 9 and/or 10 .. TNX WG
I am disappointed in your list of top sauces. “After Death” is good and has a distinctively garlic flavor, but it is far too hot to thoroughly enjoy (my opinion). I’m sure you’ve tried “Hogs Ass” garlic hot sauce, what do you think? I believe it tastes almost exactly like “Blair’s After Death” with a more tolerable bite. Please get back to me =)

Vosges chocolates, famed for their purple boxes and their combinations of chocolates with flavors like curry and wasabi has now branched into selling brownies. But as is the Vosges way, these are no ordinary brownies. Their Red Fire Brownies are dark chocolate brownies spiced with ancho, chipotle and guajillo chillies, cinnamon and vanilla and studded with Red Fire chocolate chips and crunchy cocoa nibs. The brownies sell for $39 for an eight pack. If you are interested in the homemade approach for Valentine’s Day, Vosges has a recipe for Chocolate Fire Brownies and you can ordered the Red Fire chips and bars off their website.
