Great Chili, live entertainment, food and fun are on tap at the Hot Chili Days, Cool Mountain Nights Chili Cook-off and Music Festival in Red River, New Mexico, August 17-19, 2006.

This event will feature a CASI (Chili Appreciation Society International) Cook-off along with Green Chili, Open Chili and Salsa Categories and music all afternoon in Brandenburg Park, a Songwriter’s Show at the Motherlode, an outdoor concert at “The Tip” Restaurant atop the Red River Ski Area and live entertainment at numerous locations throughout town.

Featured entertainment includes the sounds of well-respected singer/songwriter such as Larry Joe Taylor, award winning songwriter Richard Leigh, guitarist/songwriter/producer Keith Sykes, singer/songwriter/guitarist Kevin Welch, South by Southwest’s Michael Hearne.

This is a sanctioned CASI cook-off, which means CASI cooks compete for the honor of being recognized for an excellent bowl of chili, in addition to earning points toward qualification in the Terlingua International Chili Championship. Competition chili is blind judged on a basis of the following criteria: Aroma, Consistency, Red Color, Taste and Aftertaste. Other categories that are not CASI include Green Chili, Open Chili and Salsa. Anyone can enter these categories. Entry fee to cooks is $15.00 for one category (CASI, Green, Open Chili and Salsa) and $10 additional to enter another category.

Purchase your 3-day event pass for only $30 (includes souvenir coffee mug) at the Red River Conference Center. Portion of all proceeds going to benefit the Red River Valley Charter School.
