Eagle Wingz – Chesapeake Style Hot Sauce

Considering I’m actually posting two weeks in a row, you’d almost think I scored some time management lessons or something!  But no, I just have no life outside hot sauce.  That’s a lie, but it sure sounded good right?  Anyway, I’m coming to you today with a “Chesapeake Style Hot Sauce” from Eagle Wingz.  The thing that makes this interesting for me is that I live in the Chesapeake Bay region.  I’m not quite sure what Chesapeake style is, except that it should incorporate crabs and Old Bay, but I’ll give it a go.

Red Cayenne Peppers, Distilled Vinegar, Water, #1 Grade Mustard Seed, Celery Seed, Salt, Black Pepper, Paprika, Turmeric, Garlic Powder.

This sauce appears to have a sum color of the various ingredients of Old Bay.  If you think of Old Bay in your mind, and give it an average color, that’s what this looks like, but in sauce form.  The orange pastel is flecked with spots of visible flavor, like black pepper, and it flows with pause yet pours nicely.  Even the photo on the bottle is a photo of the Chesapeake Bay, from a familiar venue that I can’t quite put a finger on.  The plastic seal is perforated too, so that’s a plus.  You know, just in case you need hot sauce but have no tools, and are feeling too feeble to open the regular packaging.  Or lazy.  Me, I’m just lazy, so it’s very much appreciated.

For the smell factor, I would be lying to you if I said I could pin any flavors based solely on scent.  This smells like a well balanced, well blended product, and the smell almost reminds me of beach-side air, with a hint of crab.  I just drank some and, let me tell you folks, this stuff is fantastic.  Yours truly has a new favorite universal hot sauce.  This would be a great addition to eggs, chicken, fish, crabs, hell you could even marinate a steak in this and it would turn out great!  It has a bit of kick to it, but not enough to move past mild into Medium category.  As for the flavor, I have no choice but to give this a Notable rating, recommend you buy this elixir of the Crab People, and throw this bottle into my truck where I can always get at it.  Hell, this would make some dynamite and unique wings too!  Buy it, you’ll love it.  I sure as hell do.
