First off, I want to say a big thank you to Dave DeWitt and the crew at Fiery Foods for giving this blog a shout out in their weekly (semi) newsletter. And also a BIG thank you goes to the folks at Meilinda’s who also put us in their newsletter this past weekend. Keep ’em coming!
At Barnes and Noble this weekend I found two cookbooks that I couldn’t resist. First we have a cookbook by Biker Billy.
Biker Billy Cooks With Fire
This cookbook combines two of my favorite things, motorcycles and fiery foods. One thing that makes this cookbook stand out is that it does not stick to a certain genre of food, there are recipes from quiche to empanadas and dumplings. This weekend, I think I’m going to try a recipe from this book, but I’m not sure if I should try a breakfast recipe (Habanero Blueberry Pancakes?) or a lunch/dinner recipe (Spanakopita Diablo?) – Too many choices!
Dinosaur BBQ Cookbook
This cookbook is great for anyone who loves some good BBQ. What makes this even better though is that I’m going to their NYC location tonight! I’ll do a review on the food there later. But back to the cookbook – It has a lot a pictures (which I love) but the pictures are of the finished product and their various locations. No images on how to make these incredible dishes step by step. And believe me, some of them do look pretty complicated. One other thing is that when I’ve looked at their NYC menu online I was disappointed that many of the recipes I’ve found in the cookbook are not regular items on their menus. Oh well, more for me to make at home I guess. Pick up this cookbook, in all honesty it’s one of the best I’ve found, with a good balance of visuals and text.
