Some of you may recall my hot sauce infused pancakes – which were a success in my book. After reading that review, the TorchBearer guys wanted me to try the sauce out again and they suggested making a pumpkin pie with it or ice cream. Well, I don’t have the time to make a pumpkin pie these days, so ice cream it was.
So there you have it, TorchBearer’s SugarFire and Ben & Jerry’s Plain Vanilla Ice Cream. As I’ve said before, SugarFire is not so much as a [tag]hot sauce[/tag] but a spicy [tag]dessert sauce[/tag] (another SAS: specific application sauce). The pumpkin flavor really lent itself to the ice cream. Honestly, there was no heat during the first 3-4 bites then I began to notice that the inside of my lips were pleasantly tingling. Not burning, but just singed enough to notice. That rocked. Not enough heat to ruin my ice cream, but enough for my lips and tastebuds to feel it. If you haven’t tried this sauce on ice cream, give it a whirl. It’s a true dessert (SAS) sauce that should only be used in the context of dessert; otherwise you won’t be able to appreciate the nuances of the flavor.
