I was actaully thinking of that today. I can install the same blog SW as a test site on my site and see what can be done. I agree – if we can get that going – it would save ALL the off-topic stuff from the regualr posts. I just don’t think people are going to use the chat or even the forum for off-topic. I’ll let you know when I have it installed (over the weekend since it’s going to rain).

Just wanted to see if the off-topic comments could show up under recent – or have their own recent section. That way maybe more folks would use off-topic. It looks like it is already happening though.

My theory is that if there was an “OFF-TOPIC COMMENTS” that listed the last 5 office-topic posts of the month, then people could easily see (by refresh) if anyone is in the off-topic area. We would see “COMMENTS”, with the last 10, and then “OFF-TOPIC COMMENTS” with the last 5 or so. It would keep all the (ok not all – but a lot) off-topic comments out of the posts. I think everyone pretty much does the same thing, refreshes, and sees if there are new posts, and then it just takes off….
Just my 0.02 on a way to keep the topics cleaner. People won’t use the CHat or the Forum, but I think this would work.

Not sure if any of you guys know, but Sunday the 10th is Danny Cashs’ Birthday. Sunday should definately be a day to remember at ZestFest as Danny has promised to get stupid drunk that day (let me qualify that by saying he will get more stupid drunk than usual 🙂 ) – This is also the day that the Bears play the Packers. Danny is a huge Bears fan and I’m a huge Packers fan. Watching this game with Danny promises to be full of a lot of drinking and exchanging barbs back and forth – that is if Danny and I can find a place to watch the game.

My recommendation, big shocker I know, is Florida State at Miami on Monday night! It’ll be on every ESPN channel, so watch it.
Unfortunately, I don’t have much faith that either team will be very good, but that’s not stopping Mandy and I from going. We’re leaving here in just a few minutes.
My prediction, FSU wins to the tune of 23-16. I think this game is too close to call, so I’m saying FSU in case they win. That way I won’t lose my marbles.
They used to say that the road to the national title ran through the state of Florida. More often than otherwise, the winer of this game would end up playing for the MNC. FSU had five losses last year and won the game while Miami finished up 9-3 with a 40-3 loss to LSU in the Peach Bowl. How the mighty seem to have fallen.
Miami has six new coordinators, but still has the man I’m not a fan of. Mr. Larry Coker. Nice fellow, poor coach IMO. He took over a Ferrari and turned it into a Camry. With four new offensive lineman, the game could get ugly as last year FSU had 9 sacks against us. Compound the OL departures with only four returning scholarship WR’s, going to be tough to move the ball unless the NFL experienced Olson (offensive coordinator) can get them going.

Noticed thatthere is another thread that has gotten chatty even though the Off-Topic one has been listed in the left pane. I am guilty of posting in it as well, force of habit.
What if you put a submit button in the comment form of each thread marked off topic that would carry that comment over to the Off-topic thread along with any quoted comments listed with it. There is the “preview” and “say it” buttons, why not add a third “off topic” button to do this? Can it be done? Does this make any sense?
My .02, still trying to break the habit myself though. Just so used to jumping in hangin’ on for the ride! 😉

Also, the way the nickname and the comment is reversed in the “off topic comments” from the regular “comments” in the left pane doesn’t seem to stand out as well as the “comments” one. I know you did this to differentiate between the two, but doesn’t the words “off topic” in front of the word “comments” do this any way? To me its just harder to notice any changes?

Good Point. That was kind of bothering me earlier. I think if Nick has time to create a “Off Topic Comments” logo in the same font as the other Comments that would help. There is also less lines of text, and maybe we need 5 comments instead of three. again, not sure if any of these is the solution. I think it is going to come down to just doing it as a group. try and steer the conversation over here.
Or… maybe Nick limits each post to say 50 comments – then it closes automatically. The negative is if there are 50 real comments. Maybe Nick and JR could then re-open.

Also thought after I getting home here that maybe putting the Off-topic comments above the regular comments may be best. I got home, loaded the page, scrolled down and I clicked on the first (latest) comment to catch up. Then went and posted another smart alec remark 😉 in that thread without even thinking until it was done. Putting the off topic comments first would force people to scroll past them to get to the regular comments, maybe even getting the first comment clickers like me to hit the off topic stuff first.

yeah, that’s what of Jim’s. I’m not necessarily the best at description, plus i was just eating it on some ritz. lol
but it had a nice kick, not overpowering, nice consistency, lots of flavor. i think even if he took the heat out, would be an excellent bbq sauce on its own.
will have to see about cooking some chicken with it tomorrow. and get a better taste.

I haven’t had any DC sauces, but again ZF is right around the corner.
Defcon, makes excellent wing sauce. very tasty, and even when you get to his hotter ones, great flavor still. his extract does not taste like a typical extract. he processes is totally different.
when you go to try his just beware. defcon 3 (mild) – great flavor, devon 2 (medium) – same flavor kicked up a notch, defcon 1 (hot) beware its quite a few notches higher still retains alot of flavor, defcon zero (extract) will kick your butt, but you will go back for more cause of the curiosity why it taste pretty good. and lastly if you like horseradish, then his Habby Horse you will love!!

Sorry big, I’m awesome at carving, but had no training with building Furinature, pretty good at restoring…. One thing I could work on for you would be a bad a$$ display self.. Thats next on my list for my collection, its a small shelf… LOL. It would be a lot easy to do some custom work on a shelf, Logos take time but I love to carve…. 4 things I enjoy Family, Good friends, carving and collecting and eating things hot.

Talon was opened late Friday night told Big about it…. WOW that stuff is awesome.. I’m going to have to open up the autograph bottle to finish the meatballs I’ve ate about a Quarter of the bottle already. ….They should be done this week I hope. Almost 2 bottles in 50 pounds of meat should give it enough heat with some awesome taste, that will be 5 pound bag for everyone, the other will be with Jim;s BBQ sauce a 5 pound bag also.
