Mrs. Renfro’s Ghost Pepper Nacho Cheese Sauce

I am thankful for a lot in my life and having a loving, supportive wife is just one thing. I was at work one night when I received a text from her saying “I got you something, did you check Facebook?” To my surprise, one of the grocery stores around here actually started carrying this product. I looked often for Mrs. Renfro’s Ghost salsa for months until I finally found it in, of all places, Target. You have to understand that N.C. can be a strange state; the city where I live in particular is a little more laid-back due to this being a beach and college area. For this reason, I believe Wilmington gets products like this really late sometimes. The coolest thing about the design of this product is the lid. Me not getting a picture of this would be just injustice!

FLAVOR

Since this is a nacho cheese sauce, the consistency is what you expect from it: thick when it’s cold, medium thick when it’s warm. Nothing really stands out when I take a good solid whiff of it. I get hints of onion, cheese, and peppers…that’s honestly about it. I am not at all sure where I am getting this, but it’s like something is smoked in the sauce. It’s not bad just takes me really off guard. The heat is there but not overpowering by any means. I was expecting this to be a bit closer to their Ghost Salsa in heat but it doesn’t come close. So for those of you that tried the Ghost salsa and got blown up, come back and give this one a try. I am slightly disappointed in this product (in terms of heat level, not flavor), but that’s mostly because my expectations from this company are so high. Heat is Mean and Flavor is higher end Nominal.
