That was from this year, it was shown the first time on Monday before ABQ, it was on again while we were in the show on Friday night. I got to share the spotlight with Blair on that one. I’m not sure, but I think the #1 got an 8 or a 9 on heat during a review here some time ago. It’s not a blow your face off hot, as we like the heat but prefer to back it up with flavor. It’s hot, as there are extracts in it.

Thanks guys! Nope- didn’t get it resolved yet. Shelled out bucks to join a health club that has two of the same model machines I’ve been training on. Only problem is, it’s about 90 F and 100% humidity in there 🙁 2.5 hours on it last day & I was more whooped than some days when I’ve spent 3.5. Sigh… oh well. Nate, to try to forecast what one of Blair’s reserves will go for in the future is near if not completely impossible. There are a few on there right now, so it should give you a pretty good idea. As the reserves get older, they will probably go up in value, as each year some may be opened, broken, lost, etc.
I always wonder what makes the prices so different sometimes. You can never tell on the hot sauce market!

I have an open 6am which I’ve tried a few times…
Its really hard to explain because however hot you think its going to be, its not – its alot hotter!!
The heat is pretty much instant and spreads really quickly, so you really need to be careful about how much you take!
The stuff in the bottle is almost solid, its kinda like hot tar, so you need to get the toothpick really into it and stir it about a bit, otherwise you’ll just get some of the oil sitting on top, which I don’t reackon is at hot as the sludge further down. If you do use a toothpick as above, obviously you cant put that into your mouth – it will be WAY to much, so you will need another toothpick to scrape a tiny amount off the first toothpick and then put that in your mouth.
Important: avoid all contact with the lips!
Its certainly worth trying but is so easy to take too much, you really do need to be cautious! Rubber gloves are an absolute must for this one!

It’s the actual bottle- the bottle shape/design is going to change, this Reserve will be the last in that bottle shape/design and it will be in the Guinness Book of World Records forever so he’s urging you to buy it- “Be Apart of History” so to say. His 2am and 3am will continue to be in the bottle/design they are in now, they are still open and producing product, but there will be a new bottle/design for the next Reserves to come.

I wet the end of a toothpick (fat end), dipped it in & pulled out a good glob of it, and chowed down. As before, it gave a very warm glow from belly to scalp, but lacked that ragged “I’m going to rip my tongue out because of the pain” burn that habs give me. I guess I’m a bit jaded when it comes to extracts 😉
Training okay. Did 3.5 hours (18,000 stairs) yesterday. Working a two day Blues & BBQ festival for recovery 🙂 I don’t think that standing on my feet for 2 12 hour days is a recomended recovery program 😛

Hey Jim, have you ever thought about using chillies to keep you goin on your attempt – take plenty about 21 hrs and then they’ll keep you running til the end. It’ll work on a vascular shunt 😉 If you stop stepping the blood won’t be diverted to your legs anymore but to your stomach for digestion = ring of fire……so if you keep stepping, there will be no need for the toilet 😀

Hmmmm, tempting, but even though Mad has been taken by the “Foursome of Fell Thought”, I wouldn’t want to subject the poor lad to the fumes of the lovely horseradish root. Considering me grind it by hand, it’s much more powerful than grinding habaneros, believe it or not, and I don’t think Mad’s ocular cavity would be able to take the pain. Just a quick update—I am very honored to say I have received 100% confirmation that the Blair’s 16 million Reserve is Well Placed (with photo) in the 2007 Guinness Book of world Records. (It will be in Worldwide Distribution in October 2006) Today I got to take a look at it….And Honestly Aside from the Birth of my Child I cannot remember a prouder moment……I do not care is that sounds Crazy….I tried to get in Guinness from 1989-1993 They said will get back to you…Well, They are honest, it just took them 17 years…..FEEL ALIVE BLAIR

Paul, its like the saying goes “you win some, you lose some”. If you notice, Blair puts up an EXPECTED ship date. In no way does that mean it WILL ship on that day. I, for the most part, have been completely satisfied with my orders from Blair, and don’t expect this latest to be a dispointment. The issue I’ve had was the mix up the 05 Holiday reserve. I did pretty much what you’re doing now, and I learned my lesson on that one. It really doesn’t do much good to publicly complain about something because, more than likely, eveyone else is happy and you’ll simply be criticized for it. If you’ve got a beef with Blair, you have two options that will probably have a more desireable outcome for all parties involved. One, you can communicate with Blair directly about your issues, or two, don’t buy anymore. Most people having consistent problems when purchasing a particular brand stop purchasing that brand and buy another. If you’re so dead set on continuing to buy from Blair, then work it out with him. I’m sure he’d appreciate that much more than public spewing. And if it were me, I would be much more inclined to deal with you and try to make you happy privately instead of trying to rally support on a blog, which doesn’t seem to be working too well for you. Just some advice from someone that has been down similar roads. Good luck to you.

Henry I been buying from Blair for over 12 years I have a retail store. Your not missing anything. I have about 30 to 40 diffrent Reserves in stock at all times. Blair runs a fair sized world wid marketed company. He in FACT does do the reserves for fun. For his love of the sauce the customers the hobby. It despite the money it brings, takes far more time than its worth.
You ever do a job that just couldn’t pay enough? I have! And let me tell you, that signing 500 bottles and numbering them after that, then customosing a few here and there, then filling them all up layer after layer slowly meticulously because they all tend to have multiple layers, then once that is done corking each one and dipping…err HAND dipping each bottle one layer by one layer set to dry, then moving to the next colour. WoW! What an absolutley SH*TTY take he has undertaken, remember now, this is not some 59 or 99 bottle reserve…ohh no I say! This is FIVE HUNDRED bottles. He still has a company to run. Customers like me to talk to on an ongoing basis. Whooo, I am exhausted just talking about it.
So lets give Bliar and ALL the boys out there that do the special reserves for our collections a bit of space time and moral support because in the end… Without their unwavering dedication to, well, quite frankly, US here on the blog and around the world, there would be no “Collections”.

Yeah, I did some overnights a few months ago- did almost six months of it, I never got used to it and as you said Sundays were always the worst. We started at 7pm on Sunday nights and 9pm the rest of the week. Sundays were the worst, hard to get the get up and go! 👿

I know off the 500 subject, but is there any place on this site where all the reserves are listed by number with who has them ????? I know there are a few but it would be kind of neat to have them all listed on there own page. Like a link to 2am with no comments just the numbers and who own’s them and so-on and so-forth….Just wondering

Good question. I make these little beauties because I enjoy it. With the amount of work that goes into it (not to mention the personal injuries this time around), it’s not a huge money-maker for us. A lot of personal touches go into them, including the packaging. I’ll tell ya, when we created the first batch, I really had no idea they would catch on like they have, hence the increased coolness with the Batch #2 packaging. It gives me personal pride that people make a space on their “Shelf of Doom” for my creations. I do have a twisted sick streak, and do enjoy seeing people writhe in agonizing pleasure, but that’s not the whole equation. Wait until you see the packaging for the Btach #3, I think I’ve outdone myself this time around. Not only is it a bigger bottle, but a serious touch of class has been added.

OH… not true. I Will of course attempt to get two for the collection, and one of the unnumbered to try. I have had the rare opportunity to taste the Creators private ZERO stash, and it is pretty good. NO chemical after taste. It would be very useful to spice things up without altering the flavor.

Why am I always in mid Wales with no broadband when Blair etc are around – I want to ask a question 🙁 Think it’d probably be easier emailing dirct when I have a faster connection. One good thing has come from it though. I have found some very nice red leicester chilli and peppercorn snowdonian cheese. It’s gorgeous. I’m stocking up before heading home to start my placement!! If you want a review anyone, just ask…..it really is one of the nicest cheeses I’ve ever eaten, with a little bite when you swallow
