There is no ingredient list on this bottle, but it is basically habanero’s and horseradish, there is also no website or phone number, you can no longer buy this stuff anyway, but you can get Habby horse at http://www.defconsauces.com its $7.00 for an 8 ounce jar. I have never had Habby horse except for a small taste at jungle jims last year and I cant tell you how the heat of this one compares to the Habby horse, but it has a good heat level to it, its not insanely hot but its got a good kick. The horseradish hits you first, then the habanero. This stuff has an excellent flavor and I hope the Habby horse is really similar. I first tried it on a corn chip and I ended up eating half the jar this way, I just couldn’t stop. Every time I think about it my mouth will start salivating.
For my review I bought some Arby’s sandwiches to try it on because roast beef always go’s good with horseradish, and after eating so much plain I was surprised at how little heat it lost to the food, it had about the same burn on the sandwich as it did on the chips. The flavor does not overpower the food at all, I put a lot on my sandwiches and could still taste the roast beef. I also added a little of this to some homemade salsa and I have to say that was probably the best use of it so far, it improved the flavor by 80% and doubled the heat, (it was mild to begin with) and I only added a tablespoon to a full soup bowl of salsa. This is one of the best products I have had in a while and I will definitely be buying some Habby horse after I finish some of the many sauces I have now and have a little more loot to spend.

Value: since it’s no longer sold I can’t really say, but if Habby horse is half as good as this it would receive a 9/10 for the price it is listed.
Overall: 10/10 this is the first product for me to give a 10/10 on for the overall, and its well deserved, it can be used on just about anything and I highly recommend it, I know you cant buy it but if you like horseradish pick up some Habby horse.

Since I have not had the X-13, I couldn’t say which is hotter (the Habby Horse is not too hot at all). All I know is the Creator uses the best ingredients and uses his awesome powers for good instead of evil.

Thanks Justin, wow, a 10/10! The truth is, the X-13 was purely a test marketing experiment. We played around with a couple of the ingredients, and asked all those who were able to acquire some, to give a comparison to the Habby Horse. The X-13 has a longer sustained heat than the original Habby Horse. So, after reviewing the various critiques, the Habby Horse is essentially the X-13 now.
This product was desperately needed at the Fiery Food Challenge awards dinner. Are you kidding me? You are going to serve a room full of chile heads and not even so much as some mild horseradish to go with the roast beef? It would be a great sponsorship opportunity. Maybe next year?

answer: if nick sends it to me i review it. i didnt know that habby horse and x-13 are the same thing now or i would of shared that info in the review itself, and about it being a product that was reviewed before im sure creator wanted to have a couple peoples opinions on it since evedrybody has diffrent tastebuds. say somebody follows my reviews and all the sauces i like they dislike and all the sauces i dislike they do like they probably wont even bother reading anymore from me, they will find someone else that they agree with and trust that persons opinion instead, so having a few people review the product helps. it really helps in a case like this where everyone who reviews it gives it a good review because it shows that its a product that everybody can enjoy.

heres how it works, the MFG or defcon sauces in this case sends the product they want reviewed into nick who sends it to me to review. at least thats how i think it works so excuse me if im wrong. its not unfair to the MFG to review that product if thats what they sent in to be reviewed. and when he said it was explained earlyer i think he meant in his previous coment, not in my review. in my review i didnt know that habby horse had been changed and they where the same thing. i wish i did so that people reading my review would know, but that bit of info was never given to me and i dont remember it being anounced anywhere.

After reading this tonight before leaving work, I decided that I was going to have X13/Habby Horse for dinner. First thing to come to mind was my favorite way of eating it. Cocktail sauce! Mix Habby Horse with Ketchup to taste and you have a great cocktail sauce with a little kick to it. So I stopped off at a local fish & chips for a shrimp and flounder platter to go. That’s not the end of it though. upon arriving home and checking the fridge, i discovered that I was out of Ketchup. But right before my eyes was what I deemed to be a suitable substitute. Sriracha! Talk about putting the cock in cocktail sauce! LOL! I’ve found a permanent replacement ketchup. Lots more heat and the flavor was way better than using the ketchup.
Either way though, mixed with ketchup or Srircha, Habby Horse makes the best cocktail sauce ! Mmmmm! ๐

This is true. I read this first thing this morning and well, basic math or not I think Justin gave a good fair review. It is hard when you give everything points then total them and find that something you absolutely love didn’t score how you like it. Justin, you have to add all of the scores and divide by the number of categories. I wasn’t going to point that out. Keep up the good work. Don’t take the comments too personal.

I’m gonna try to jump in here without being attacked by either side but in an attempt to be fair, a reviewer can rate a sauce anything he or she wants to rate it and shouldn’t be subject to criticism. A review is just that: an opinion. Everyone here has one. I have one. Rate it want you want. This isn’t exactly a science or something similar to scoring a boxing card. And if we weren’t at least somewhat interested in the opinion of someone else, this forum wouldn’t even exist. Read ’em, take notice or not, and move on.

the heat is 6/10 thats 10 being super hot and one being not hot at all, i rate extract and non extract sauces seperatly. 6/10 is the perfect heat level for this product. if i was rating it 1-10 with 10 being the perfect heat level and 1 being not even close to the level it should be it would be a 10. 10+10+9=29 devided by 3 is really close to a perfect 10 score for overall its just all about the way i rated the heat. hope this clears everything up and everybody understands what im trying to say!!

Justin-Great review. I reviewed X-13 the first time, and Thank God we can have multiple reviews because after all I might prefer something more than someone else. Hello everyone else?? Did you hear that??? Jutsin, take all the sh@t from everyone else like a great big grain of salt. Here’s the thing buddy, you have all these people that are using this forum to vent at each other while you’re doing just that little thing we’re meant to do: review hot sauces. And frankly, if your review was that bad, wouldn’t the Creator (and I hate to bring him into this) have said something more that what he had already said before? You do great reviews, keep it that way.
I find it amazing that nearly any review turns into a mud slinging match between the same people.

I think the point here is, that people can say pretty much what they want on here. (yea, I know, the whole accusation of censorship BS) But it seems that most of what is said on reviews lately ends up sprouting into some kind of attack or criticism. Whether itรขโฌโขs on the reviewer, the way a sauce is reviewed, how many times itรขโฌโขs been reviewed, the rating system used, or the fact that some reviewers are unknown. Whatever it is. It will always cause the รขโฌลsee it from both sidesรขโฌย responses. Thatรขโฌโขs people, and thatรขโฌโขs life. So a lot of people now shy away from making comments, or just are tired of the same old stuff.
Iรขโฌโขm not going to reminisce about what the HSB used to be like. Those here awhile remember. Just keep in mind that there are a whole lot more people that read this stuff then the handful of รขโฌลregular commenterรขโฌโขsรขโฌย that post here. So I think itรขโฌโขs up to each person to decide what they put out for the world to see.
