My Hot Sauce Hottie and I were in Cuba just the other week. Unfortunately we were not able to shop outside of our resort so I couldn’t get the chance to find any local hot sauces. I did however have no trouble finding Tabasco. This Tabasco shot was taken at our hotel the Melia Cayo Coco. A fabulous resort (adults only) and for our HSB readers outside of the US we highly recommend it.

You know I tried! I was even asking the tour guide the one day on our Jeep tour but he didn’t recommend stopping in the city we were in. Other than tabasco the closest I got was the grown chili peppers there but they were equivalent to a cayenne. You never know – maybe next time!

A Mojito is Rum (lots of it), crushed mint leaf, soda water and bitters. They are great at first…….
ahhhh, now I don’t feel so stupid asking, i am not a drinker….it sounds icky by the description…

Perhaps you should heed their warnings…You might wash up on the shore of Miami lacking a few vital organs.

It tastes as bad as it sounds…..and I am a drinker!
yeah, I don’t think I’ll be trying one anytime soon….bitters and mint just don’t sound appetizing to me.
1.5 oz BACARDI Rum
12 fresh spearmint leaves
1/2 lime
7 oz club soda
2 tbsp. simple syrup
(or 4 tsp. sugar)
This makes a much better (less ‘bitter’) Mojito. The secret is to crush the mint in the bottom of the glass with the lime juice. Add the sugar, then the rum and soda. These are great on a hot day, and they go down really easy, so be careful. After two (or four) you just don’t care anymore! They get on top of you pretty quick.
Now that is the kind I’ve had a few of. Not bad at all:)

We have …
-slinging carp…please someone tell me what this refers too, I am at a loss I did not see the original post it was used in.
-hill of beans. I like this one means something is meaningless (as a hill of beans would be i guess, cuz what you gonna do with a hill of beans) or at least my interpretation of it.
-and now icky
there are only 2-3 things i can think of in life that really deserve the term icky, and none of them can be posted on a family blog
OK OK I am board waiting at work for the HSH to finnish so we can car pool home because gas is at stoopid prices.
Slinging carp is from comment #149 and on from the Pimp You Sauce Contest Winners post.
And don’t forget “raising cane”.

Oh, not at all ma’am
I was introduced to them by a Cuban friend while on a cruise ship and they were wonderful
Certainly a bit ‘different’ but refreshing nonetheless.
Oh, goodness! Leave the bitters out of the mojito! If you are a drinker and like rum you will likely find them delicious. I thought they sounded like they would be too alcoholic-tasting, but having tried them I think they are quite good!
I tried Mojito and like the mint and bitters at first but they turned nasty second time. I couldn’t understand the reason. Otherwise it was ok.
