Yeah… just went. Lots of good stuff on there…
Very good deals – website is going a little slow, must be everyone on it shopping around, but once you find what your looking for – it’s a steal
It’s a sad day here in Albuquerque. Their shop was the friendliest and had the most selection of anyone here in town.

It’s all Blane’s fault
Why do hot sauce stores always seem to go out of business? Is it the nature of the product? The industry? The consumer? Is there an academic paper out there about this, that perhaps hotsauceblog could blog about?

It’s a low margin business (unless you sell collectibles) – so you have to have a place that does high volume or doesn’t rely on only hot sauce to make $. I’ve never seen a research paper done on it, but would love to know if anyone else has.
This sucks that place was cool.

This was one of the nicest hot shops I’ve visited. Great people too.

In our case it was a lack of local customer support. We did okay with the tourists–that is to say the ones that aren’t scared of hot. When we were forced to move out of the mall due to the mall renovation (which never even took place by the way), it killed us. We even had over 12,000 flyers (with a coupon) handed out for us at The Fiery Food Show in March and we only got back 7 of the coupons. It’s sad, but we just couldn’t continue to loose money day after day. The only time we did okay was during Christmas. Somehow the locals thought hot foods were only good for Christmas gifts.
Of course there are some execptions, like the chile heads here!

You guys sure know how to make us feel better while in a bad situation! BTW, John, we’ll get you paid as soon as we can.
They have EVERYTHING not just hot sauce. They have shirts, snacks, BBQ, wing sauce (DEFCON), books…you name it… and want my product when I get to that point. At least they’re keeping they’re on-line store.
Are you close to that point DevilDuck????
Sherrie…my heart goes out to you….we hear that tune too often with a small business…..locals make or break…..but think though of all the people you made smile who walked through your door………thats a beautiful thing……..I know I’ve been there …………………………………….
Good luck to the both of you. I’m sorry things turned out like they did. It was nice being able to meet you guys in Albuquerque. Perhaps you’ll be at the show next year, I’ll buy the first round…

when full-body protection alone just isnt enough
It can get pretty messy around these parts, maybe “Dirty Jobs” could do a show about it sometime?
Thats sucks about the store – what a cool place. Pat, Sherrie, and the kids are rad – I wish it would’ve worked forever for them.

Hey, Danny—thanks! BTW, Bryan’s favorite sauce is STILL Bottled Up Anger. When we run out, he’ll be your best retail customer!
This was the last thing I wanted to read first thing this morning.
Pat and Sherrie’ are the greatest people you will meet. Their store had everything you could think of. I wish them well in what ever their next venture will be.
You were our very first customer! This was the Best most beautiful store EVER in this very tough business. We wish you all the best in your new endevours. Thanks for being such great friends!
