TEA, S.D. (AP) “” A South Dakotan may be new world-record holder when it comes to swallowing Tabasco sauce. Levi Johnson of Tea drank 5.5 ounces of the hot sauce, or nearly 3 bottles, in 30 seconds at a sports bar in that community.
The Guinness Book of World Records lists the previous record at 5.07 ounces. Johnson’s feat must be verified by Guinness publishers before it is considered official.
Wow – who knew that was a record to break? I’m guessing he drank the sauce out of a glass and not the little bottles. I bet a number of readers could beat this one in no time…

Found it a while back. The post just reminded me of it. It’s not the guy you were talking about, but it should clarify some things about what’s required for the record. In my opinion, 5.5 ounces straight from a tabasco bottle is quite a feat. LOL!! I wonder if they would allow chugging from one of the gallon jugs? Hehehe!!!!

What exactly is the record anyway. Being an idiot and using a bottle with no mouth on it or the actual ounces? I can walk into my kitchen right now with my bigger bottle and beat that and come back with time to spare. Someone call guiness for me. Man I think I put that much in my Thanksgiving challenge recipe. lol
It has to be the straight from the botle thing…..just sounds too easy otherwise. I predict that record will fall with a blogger winning it if it can be properly sanctioned.
Tabasco is water to me. The problem is getting that stuff through the tiny hole in the bottle fast enough. Heat isnt the problem, getting it out of the bottle fast is.
yeah the bottle is key otherwise I guarantee I could do it in 4 seconds or less.
That was silly! It’s like watching a baby suck on a bottle. Tabasco has about the same heat level as baby formula!
Interesting that it’s from the bottle. I wonder how much suction he ends up with when he finishes the bottle off.

Love your site. Just one question. Do you have like an all time best of list. There is so much hot stuff to sort through I am trying to find a list of the very best hot sauce, or the very best salsa etc.

I’ve witnesed three different feats that blow this out of the water 20 oz by one 21 0z by another and finally 24 0z last night thats 12 bottles emptied into a pint glass and a rocks glass. Done in less than 30 seconds. h
