Because of the incredibly mild weather last week I got to make one of my favorite and very simple grilled sensations.
Supplies:
1+ slabs of spare ribs (or whatever amount you want)
At least 2 bottles of Raspberry Chipotle Sauce (you can even make your own)
Shaker of your favorite meat seasoning

Step 1
Go ahead and clean off whatever fat is on the ribs and wash them thoroughly.

Step 2
Put the slabs of ribs in a large pot that will easily accommodate them and fill with enough water to cover the ribs. Add a little extra for evaporation and add A LOT of the seasoning salt to the water. You don’t need to put it on the meat itself; it will get plenty from the water. Put the pot on the stove and boil on high for about 2.5 hours

Step 3
With a hot grill, lay the ribs out flat and smother with Raspberry Chipotle sauce. Use a brush to rub the sauce in. Now you don’t need to cook the ribs very long because they have already been cooked. What you are trying to do is give them a grilled taste and fire the sauce into the ribs. Keep flipping the ribs and adding sauce every ?? minutes. Be sure to save some sauce to use for dipping later. I usually use about one and a half bottles while grilling and I save about half of a bottle for dipping.

Step 4
Dig in!

First review – very nice EMAN. But how long is “every ?? minutes” 🙂
I love step 4 – my favorite part in any grilling recipe!
Welcome aboard eman! Great first article!
Nice looking Ribs!!! I will always have a place in my heart for boiled ribs done on charcoal like yours, reminds me of home and youthful days long past. That sauce looks good to, where did you get it????
OMG did you just boil ribs?
I think he did!
I would hope that this method of rib cooking (boiling) is not held in high regard.
But hey, if it tastes good to you…
actually it is an old method of cooking ribs boiling them first to precook and shed alot of the fat. softens em up too if you cook long enough i think. Then cook to brown on BBQ … my mom used to do it that way and I have a few times too.,
Although I may prefer slow smoked ribs there is no way I would turn those down! When I first saw the title I thought it said Rasberry chocolate ribs. I was like what?! Rasberry chipotle sounds more like it!! Ribs are one of my top favorite foods though. Crawfish, wings, and ribs are quite nice! I don’t know what it is about having to work for my food but give them to me!
Way to go eman, the ribs look great. We also boil our ribs- they make the meat very soft like pmac said, it practically falls off the bone. Good stuff.
I work in a restaurant and we often boil our ribs as well. They’re not on the menu, but I use them for caterings, etc. I don’t have a smoker, so it’s really the next best way to make sure they turn out tender in the end. I might have to try these raspberry chipotle as a special some day soon!
woops, sorry about the ???? for flipping times. Had my wife check for spelling/grammer and forgot to edit it. It really depends on how high the flame is. I always grill them on low flame so they get a good smokey flavor and they don’t burn. Remember, they have actualy already been cooked when boiling so you are just giving them that grilled flavor and getting the sauce to stick to them. Just grill untill your desired darkness.
And as far as the boiling goes, it is essential to get the meat to fall off the bone. Very, very tender!
Cheffy- you can see in the picture the names of the 2 different sauces i used – i get them at the local store in the bbq section and they both have their own websites
all i can say is try these— they are incredible!!!!!!!
My Dad (who is a Chef) boils them as well. Best ribs I have ever had!
sorry. Boiling ribs is not a what I care to desire. All u all can mark on eman, but I say boiling ribs is a curse.
have you ever tried them?
but I do enjoy putting eggs in a boiling pot, removing the entire pot for exactly 17 mins, draining and puttin them in ice water for two minutes. Perfect egg.
well, wether you boil them or not try the raspberry chipotle, it’s awesome
oh, it’s inportant that u remove the entire pot from the heat as soon as you put the eggs in….
eggs or ribs………gota say ribs
To a true BBQ fan, boiling ribs is a mortal sin! Ask any chef or a competitor on the BBQ circuit and they will tell you that the flavor is in the fat, blood and juices of the meat – which boiling removes. IMO, what you are really enjoying here is the taste of sauce. Absolutely nothing beats low temp, slow cooked ribs.
I agree with mwc. When you boil the meat, you absolutely NEED the sauce because boiling them makes the meat taste bland. Coming from Texas, I gotta say. While many of my friends here in Germany(from different parts of the states) boil their meat, I cant do it. I still eat them if they are prepared that way with a whole troth of sauce to save the flavor but to let the seasoning and sauce cook throughout the meat during the entire time of slow cooking-now THAT’S how you cook ’em. IMO I takes a little longer but the reward is outstanding.
