The 2nd Annual HSB Wing Off
With the Super Bowl fast approaching, the HSB is proud to announce the 2nd Annual Hot Sauce Blog Wing Off. An online wing eating contest you ask? No, that would raise to many hackles when it came to the judging ๐ This contest will focus on the recipe & visual appeal of the wings created – how you make them and eat them is up to you!
The HSB Wing Off entries will be judged on the following categories:
- Ingredients
- Overall Recipe & Prep
- Display & Visual Appeal
The Prizes:
1st Place: 1 NFL Jersey of your choice + a Party Sized selection of Wing Sauces + a copy of Wing It
2nd Place: A Hot Wing Sauce Gift Basket + a copy of Wing It
3rd Place: A copy of Wing It: Delectable Recipes for Everyone’s Favorite Bar Snack
Rules:
– Entries must be received by 1/29/08
– Entires must include the recipe, your creative recipe name and a photo of the finished product/display.
– Entrants can send all entries to: HSB Contests
That’s it! All entries will be posted before Super Bowl Sunday (so that readers can make the recipes if they choose) and the winners will be announced on Super Bowl Sunday. Have fun with it!

Ok here is my entry, bake some buffalo wings by tyson on a non stick foil for 8 minutes at 450, flip them and another 8-10 minutes. Warm some Defcon 1 in a saucepan, pour them over the baked wings. Shake them so they are coated nicely. Presto chango, best wings! ๐

Let’s see what you all got! I don’t know how many entries there were last year but I personally intend on stacking the deck in my favor! I bought 10#s of wings today and probably will need to buy more. I know there are some serious pro and amateur chefs reading this so bring it!!!
Oh, I forgot to add that since I am currently running a couple of businesses and working a swing shift, I will probably be cooking by moonlight. I want to see wings that are to die for! My jersey choice will be Seattle Seahawks #51 Lofa Tatupu!!!
Young Sam, I am pretty sure I am in this. I bought 2#s of wings today Myself. Oh. Did I mention right now I am not currently working anywhere and I don’t have anything else to do. I might find some time between beverages to fire up the pit, however it will be sometime when the sun is warm.I don’t know if these wings will be good enough for you to die for but, Since I don’t have a fav. team in the hunt I could work you a deal on that jersey you want.
Made a batch of my submission this morning, brought them into work and received comments such as “this was the best wing I have ever had” – that was after only one wing. Don’t worry either, they are hot!
I have a winner this year! Can’t wait to see everybody else’s submissions.

Check into the flight on Delta out of LaGuardia that leaves on the 29th into Atlanta. It leaves around 8am and leaves out of Atlanta 11:20am which is flight 1433. That is the flight I am on into Albuddahquerque. I am meeting my friend Steve from that flight out of NY. Return flight(#1680) is Monday Mar 3rd into Atlanta 11:05-4:02pm.
