I of course wanted everyone to be able to take their bottle home with them and believe me it would be easier than shipping 99 bottles around the country for free. But it would suck to get a call from a Chilipal after they got home from the show that their bottle broke from an Airline. So I am certain this is the best way.

I can’t wait for ZF though. I get more excited every day. I do think that Blair is doing the best thing as far as shipping the T-99 goes. Less moving it around decreases the possiblity for damage.

I was wondering about the wing sauce too. It’s a shame 200 cases had to be trashed!! Can’t wat for it to come out!
Surpise surprise. Only 99 bottles, 4 different wax jobs and such. 99/4=24.75 of each wax job. So are the fractioned bottles going to be worth more? Wait, that’s not possible. And last I heard, its only 2 per person. This just means yet again, there are going to be a select few that receive some “soecial” bottles that of course are going to be worth more on the secondary market than the others. So once again, people will be paying for the same thing, but not receiving the same thing. If each and every one of us had a business and were purchasing these for retail purposes, unless we were divided into different classes, this would be considered anti-trust. Now a lot of these will be purchased for resale, we all know it. So are the people with actual retail establishments going to get different bottles than the people that are just collecting and/or selling on ebay?
Anyone that is planning on purchasing collectible bottles at ZF should have already planned on having their purchases shipped home via UPS or other carrier. So to be able to purchase at the show shouuld be no problem, because I honestly don’t believe that anyone is going down there strictly to get the T-99. People could just ship it back with the rest of their stuff.
As a consumer, if I went to a car dealership and decided to purchase the same car as another person – with all the same bells and whistles – I would expect that if we paid the same amount of money, we would both get the same car. That is not the case with Blair anymore. If Blair were an auto dealer, we would all pay the same amount of money, but some would be gettting the base model, while others were getting all the upgrades, which on the secondary auto market, guess who’s would be worth more after driving it 10,000 miles? Same thing with jewelery. If me and the guy behind me pay the same amount of money for a diamond, but I get a 1/4 ct SI1 clarity D color round cut and the next guy gets the same quality in 1ct…there’s a bit of a problem there. Its called poor business practice. I know the BBB would have something to say about it as well.
I’m not trying to sway anyone from buying one of these, I’m just saying that its not right to sell 4 different items under the same name, at the same price, that have different values. That’s bad karma in my book, but that’s just me.

sounds like a good idea to me. but also make it equally fair to everyone in that catagory too. maybe like a pick a number between 1 and 1,000 or have Blair put so many skulls in a jar, take a picture of it and have those people email him and guess the number. i just believe that it should be equal. and also about the mailing thing, i support Blair’s decision 110%.

Salsa is awesome, you should be getting yours this week. Just picked another 15 lbs. of habbys. That is 30 lbs this year so far. Turned my 45 lbs of jalapenos into mash and did that with my first 15 lbs. of habbys. Pretty sure that is what I will do with 15 lbs.I just picked. Going to be busy tomorrow canning.

Well Henry, its like this. With the firecracker, there were 3 variations on the bottle (nevermind the gold skull ones, misprints, etc…) Red, White, and Blue. The fact that there was an equal number of Red and Blue, but a very small number of White is what made all the difference. The fact that there were less of the White makes it more difficult to obtain on the secondary market, so the demand is up, thus the white is worth more to the collector than the Red or the Blue.
Now in the case of the T-99, there are FOUR different wax jobs. 99 is not evenly divided by 4. So there is going to be less of at least one color that will be worth more to the collectors on the secondary market. Blair has now taken away the purchasers ability to choose what color they get so he can choose for us…like the firecracker.
A buddy of mine brought up a good point today. There’s only 99 of the T-99, 299 of the Halloween 06, and 299 Holiday 06. There’s a 3 part message that can only be put together if you have all 3 of these…but here’s the catch. If each person that buys a T-99 only buys 1, only those 99 people have the opportunity to have the complete message because there is 200 more of the other two. Potentially 200 people will not be able to have the whole “trilogy” (we all know that people will buy more than 1 of each, so that’s even less).
So you see, Henry, the value bit is directly associated with rarity, in conjunction with a manufacturer’s popularity and built up hype. Blair will select who gets what, as always, and has made it impossible for more than 99 complete sets. And if you REALLY want to get technical, he’s made it impossible to have more than 2 complete sets due to the Firecracker fiasco. How many people are going to disapointed this time around because they didn’t get what they wanted? I know there were a lot of people hoping to get the white firecracker and were disapointed when they got a regular red or blue. I know there were a lot of people disapointed when Blair chose who got the 05 holiday based on how much money people had or had not spent on him in the past.
I’m tired, hopped up on vicodin, and just ranting now, but you get the point. At least we have other manufacturers that are willing to give people the opportunity to get the same thing for the same price…even limited editions like the Caveat Emptor. There’s not going to be different bottles at ZF, and you can actually get your hands on it at the show.

I received 2 bottles mailed one to me one to a friend. The one to me was my second bottle ever (first was Holloween ’05 and I ordered only one bottle), and the second one My friend ordered was the first bottle they ever ordered.

Ask Blair, I don’t read the man’s mind, I just went off of what he said himself. Its posted here on the blog under the 05 Holiday Reserve thread. He said the the people he chooses to receive the 05 holiday would be based on past purchases. For crying out loud, Blair is not the second coming, he’s a hot sauce manufacturer. He’s not perfect.
