Salsa De Rosa Wins Scovie
Redmond, WA – November 3, 2005 — Results from the “2006 Fiery Foods and Barbeque National Food Contest” have just been announced and Salsa de Rosa, a small family-owned company based in Redmond, Washington rocked the salsa world and walked away with a First and Second Place awards in the Fresh Salsa category.
The Fiery Foods and BBQ Food Competition was held in Albuquerque, NM on Monday, October 10th, 2005. The contest is among the largest spicy food competitions in the USA drawing around 600 entries from across the country, all competing for the coveted “Scovie Award”. Scovie Awards are named after Wilbur Scoville the creator of the scale used to determine the heat in peppers.
Salsa de Rosa’s Hot took First Place in the “Fresh salsa, Hot” category and their Extreme Heat placed second in the “Fresh salsa, Habanero” category.
Owners of the six year old company, Steven and Rosemarie Bryar, were extremely pleased with the results. “Not a lot of companies make a truly fresh salsa and we take a lot of pride in making a quality product,” explains Rosemarie, “and these awards are a fantastic tribute to that fact.”
These recent awards aren’t the companies first. Earlier this year, they won three awards in the America’s Zesty Best Food Competition and in 2004 they won two other Scovie Awards.
Started in January, 1999, Salsa de Rosa has grown steadily. Available in many local northwest independent grocers, health food stores and co-ops from Bellingham to Portland, OR, Award Winning Salsa de Rosa is also available online through their website at www.salsaderosa.com.
