Urgent – West Dean Chilli Fiesta – Possible Date Change!

An email has been sent to stall holders regarding the West Dean Chilli Fiesta, we have been sent a copy:-

“Dear Stallholder

As I’m sure many of you are aware; it’s been unseasonably rainy this year!

Having assessed the ground conditions where over 10,000 cars would park – we feel that we are not able to run the event at the end of July as we would wish.   As part of our land management responsibilities we have a duty to ensure that we minimise any potential damage to our historic landscape.

We are therefore moving the Chilli Fiesta to the August Bank Holiday weekend – Saturday, Sunday and Monday 25 – 27 August.

I am hoping that you can make this move with us.  Please respond to this email by return – we need to have an idea by Friday lunchtime how many stallholders can make this new date. We can then start alerting those that have already booked tickets (we have all their emails); and get the word out about the new date.

If you wish to join us for the new date we will assume that your booking will be as your original. If you do need to change any pitch details there’ll be an opportunity to do so in due course.

I, or one of my colleagues, will also be calling you this afternoon or tomorrow morning. “

Let hope this is not the case, but we just wanted to warn as many of our readers as possible, we will keep you up to date with any further information.

West Dean would not change the event if they did not think is was necessary, I am sure all the stall holders and visitors will do there best to support West Dean in what was I am sure a hard decision to make, at least we know now and it has not be rained off at the last minute.
