Womersley – Tomato & Chilli Chutney
Womersley Foods was started in 1979 by Martin and Aline Parsons they used home grown herbs and fruits to create a range of vinegars and jellies. In 2009 their son Rupert joined the team and he has overseen the move to new bespoke premises and the re-branding of the company.
The whole range looks superb, I have tried the vinegars on a number of occasions to make the most amazing dressings, or just dribbled over some roast.
Pop the lid of there new Tomato & Chilli Chutney and there is an instant aroma of fresh tomatoes and apples, you can see in the chutney nice pieces of onion, peppers. The tastes is just like I had just made it myself.
There are some very plump sultanas that give a burst of sweetness, not a lot of chilli heat in here, but this is not needed in such a tasty chutney.
Ingredients: Tomatoes (35%), Onions, Apples, Sugar, Red Peppers, Spirit Vinegar, Sultanas, Chilli Powder, Cornstarch, Spices (Including Mustard seeds), Salt.
Jar kindly provided by Womersley Foods
This is one of the best chutneys I have tasted in a long while, it is not overly sweet and stickly the flavours of the ingredients work so well together and it like one the best home made products you could hope to make.
The packaging fits the brand with it arts and crafts illustrations and clean simple design, my only complaint is that I cannot see this for sale anywhere and the jar is almost empty.
I think we are going to need another jar..
